Curious, but which features are missing in spiderman that xbox games get docked points for?
Personally, I don’t mind that Xbox games (and the platform) get criticized. It forces Xbox to get better. What is sad is that games on competing platforms do not receive the same level of scrutiny. Zelda’s performance is absolutely atrocious and the game got 10s across the board. The last third of Baldur’s Gate 3 runs at 20fps on PS5 and yet that version sits at 96 on Metacritic.
At the end of the day video games are an entertainment industry, so perhaps the press should sometimes overlook flaws to keep the outlook positive, but it makes Xbox stand out as the whipping boy.

CoD is almost always the highest selling video game title every year but that does not necessarily mean it is the most beloved IP, right?
Don’t get me wrong, I really like Spider-Man, but the most beloved superhero character ever? I don’t think so, IMO. Maybe for today’s generation I guess.

Oh, that comment was just for me personally.
I think the discourse from the media is it’s own thing. Lots of bad faith actors out there.

I don’t think Starfield is really polarizing at all with the player base that actually played it. I do think it’s polarizing for the hardcore Bethesda community but I don’t believe it deserves a “polarizing” tag beside it.
It’s simply a great game that should have long legs, it isn’t the next Skyrim or Fallout of this generation but it’s a great comeback story from a studio that deserves it.

To be fair, I do think the platform running the game should be considered and put into context for reviews. Zelda’s performance is at or near 30fps most of the time outside of the more populated areas and when using the building mechanic. I don’t think it’s all that bad, especially considering it’s running on a switch of all things. And the PS5 BG3 score is apparently a carry over from the PC since there aren’t any critic scores listed.
I think it’s pretty obvious that Spider-Man is the most beloved superhero of this generation especially, you’d kinda have to be out of touch to think not so. Even before this generation, he was always in contention for #1 or 2.
It’s the most popular superhero of this generation with arguably one of the most beloved AAA studios of this gen making it. It’s a no brainer to me as to why there’s no hit pieces for it.

No, NES games were running at 60fps already. The hardware is no excuse (or shouldn;t be). Additionally, you had entire swaths of press claiming 30fps is not acceptable on at least two occasions this year. And yet Zelda frequently dropping to 15fps did not bother them at all.

No, the PS5 version is listed with 32 reviews, the PC version has 104 reviews. Why are you being intentionally obtuse?

Doesn’t change the fact that no multimedia IP has ever surpassed a gaming originated IP in any relevant metric, especially popularity. There is still a higher chance a new IP will become the bestselling game than an existing multimedia IP.

Considering the hardware should definitely be considered imo. That consideration should be weighed against what the game is trying to accomplish. The more a game pushes a piece of hardware, the less expectations for 60+fps will be.
And I’m not being obtuse. Either MC is broken for me on mobile or I’m smoking something because I load it up and see below. You guys could chill some.

That uproar existed because replaying missions was an established feature of Halo since day one. I thought it was stupid as hell to be missing. This is in no way comparable.
Never said otherwise. I’m just simply saying I don’t think it’s too complicated to understand why the Insomniac Spider-Man games have been so popular.
They’re visually stunning, engaging storyline, have the Batman Arkham combat formula and is an open world game. Pretty good recipe to build a hit game haha.
The whole whataboutisms in comparing it to Xbox games don’t really hold weight to me. We know there are bad faith actors within the reviewing industry when it comes to Xbox or Bethesda.

I forgot that RE4R also came out this year, and SF too. I really don’t think anymore that Starfield will be nominated for GOTY. Nobody should be surprised, nor should we really care much. I hope Todd and Xbox don’t either.

These are video games we’re discussing and you’re acting like I’m intentionally lying as if there’s anything to gain from that.

Actually that line is blurring everyday. But as others have said we are pretty tired of being Gas lighted for pointing out the obvious. Sony does not get the same scrutiny as Xbox does from gamers and the Media. Their are two different standards that each is held to and we would simply like that to go away and each platform is held to the same standards.
Pretty simple and not really asking to much.
