The change in narrative between Microsoft and Sony is facinating to watch

What specific things do you dislike that Jim Ryan has done? Well, that is, the closure of the Ps3, Vita store … were in the plans back in 2016. Nobody takes your games away from you. You can continue to play them. So that’s it. What other questions do you have about his leadership?

I found this rather amusing actually, it was like a damage control thread because of the recent news (it was posted on the same day as the Jason article came out) it was so bloody obvious. It is interesting how things are going this generation already and we’re just at the start.

The Xbox team aligned the Xbox divison more with the overall goals and disruptive strategy of Microsoft since Satya Nadella took over. Now they act more like a significant part of Microsoft and not like a garage band (which also had some charm). And we haven’t seen the end of it. This wasn’t easy, took a lot of time and work and still even not all Xbox fans are convinced (see the other thread), but more are day by day. Getting better press than 2013 is nice and fascinating, yes.

Having really different strategies and product portfolios on all platform holders is refreshing for me and interesting and to watch.

Btw i like the banner picture in OP, should be a rendering sample scene like Sponza to check if your lighting solution works

Since PS5s are selling out in Japan, there goes the narrative that Japanese gamers are only interested in super compact gaming systems because of tiny dwellings. Plenty of Japanese games for those who don’t care for the Western ‘walking simulators’ like Persona, Ghosts of Tsushima, Yakuza and so on. Sony is smart in that they market one way in Japan and other ways in the West. Xbox could learn a lot from that. You don’t even hint to Japanese gamers that Doritos/Mountain Dew/brogamers exist.

a lot of people imo are just hedging their bets

The only reason threads like that are required is because games forums do a horrible job enforcing standard rules for being decent to people. All of them. If everyone was required to be a decent human being or face moderation repercussions you wouldn’t get the big divides and one up man ship in the community.

If instead of that thread, which is a bandaid, it was a staff announcement that basically said “Hey we haven’t been fair. We haven’t been equitable. We let some people get away with whatever they want and over moderate others. We let popularity instead of the rules determine moderation decisions and this is what we’re doing to fix it” you’d actually be on to something.

And that’s not an Era dig. It’s a gaming thing. Era, GAF, Twitter, YouTube, Reddit… Hell, probably here if it ever gets popular enough to have multiple communities.

Absolute weird first post.

It’d mostly Game Pass that’s changing the narrative, the value is too high that it’s making Playstation and its model look like a dinosaur.

Is that all you can say? I asked the person what specific grudges Jim was causing him. If you want, you can answer instead.

Exactly and Sony know this. Everytime a third party game comes day and date to gamepass, Sony look bad. When battlefield 6 comes too, it’ll just get worse.

By investing only in blockbuster games, they are making the problem worse.

It will be nice to be an Xbox fan on the internet and not be forced out of just about every gaming forum and trolled to death by Sony fans that have nothing better to do.

Investors? Don’t think so.

This is super offensive. People can like things no matter what country they are from. Suggesting that anything other than what you list are brogamer games (is that term even relevant in the last decade?) is stupid.

nah not investors

influencers, media etc

I hear you. The other place has the cockroaches coming out because one “insider” stated that some MS games are years away…

I read a couple of comments and checked out.

Do you work for Sony?

Leadership has consequences.

Phil DMA Spencer is a gamer through and through so he will approach things as a gamer first and it shows. Xbox ecosystem is holistic, best h/w, best services and soon best s/w.

Jim Ryan is a finance guy and a suit. He doesn’t even have a PSN. He is Sony’s Don Mattrick and making decisions to cut the fat everywhere without thinking how it’ll impact the mindshare.

Xbox smells blood and going for the kill. With full MS backing, it’s going to be an amazing gen compared to the crappy xbox one gen.

Some Sony fans fight tooth and nail to come up with reasons to not just buy an Xbox. It is weird it’s like they think their house is going to burn down if a console with an Xbox label gets put under their TV.

Xbox has had better communication than Sony for 3 + years. Sony decided they did not need to talk to it’s customers and seem to find it a nuisance that any Sony customer would ever question them.

PS5 software sales in Japan are abysmal, what seems to be happening is that a ton of PS5s in Japan are being bought only to then be sold to the Chinese black market or to Taiwan or South Korea, markets where there are fewer PS5 shipments but higher demand.
