Yeah. I am really starting to think Tom likes to make Xbox look really bad for its userbase. I mean, releasing this kind of ā€œnewsā€, that’s what i will call it, seems truly clickbait one on one, especially since the showcase its near for all to see.

Do i find it disengenuous? Absolutely but there’s nothing i can do, however i do like my Xbox but i wish for clarifications on certain matters that need actual folks from the brand to answer them.

If i was in charge of a game hardware company and saw this i would seething because of this.

Jeez it’s the same frickin ā€œinsidersā€, some with actual sites and some credibility, some just social media wannabes who love pushing anti-Xbox shite and we’re all having the same thoughts and arguments (me included).

At this point I want full multi-platform or a locked down ruleset so we can stop living Groundog Day lol

PS: I am however enjoying the one commentator on PushSquare reminding PS fans they don’t need Xbox games on PS5 as they can already play them on the gaming PCs they said they all had when trolling that Xbox had no real exclusives due to PC

I imaging Xbox UK posts a tweet on a black background with just the words

ā€˜Don’t believe the rumors till we confirm them. Also, Tom’s being a bit of a knob innit?’

They can do whatever they want with new titles, but they need to fight investors with all they get to don’t mess with titles that are DNA of Xbox, don’t touch Halo, Gears, Forza, Fable, etc… Keep them far away investor vampirism. Bringing Halo on PS is beyond outrageous for Xbox fanbase and brand identification.

If you want more big halo MP titles it needs to be everywhere. It can’t compete against others unless it is.

But this is the problem when Xbox opened themselves up to this sort of reporting, which is why people say it was a bad idea.

As now anything is plausible and the other sites podcasts will just regurgitate it all week.

And continue to bury and weaken the brand.

That’s the problem when open yourselves up to it.

You might make that money selling on ps5 etc but you lose in PR as a brand.

The studios and games may get more acclaim for their games

Microsoft may make more money

But the trade off is the perception of the need to want to be on the Xbox platform weakens

Is it confirmed this person works for Microsoft?

Well Scott Hansleman follows her. He is on the software side of Microsoft.

I’m right there with you, I’m so sick of sites reporting on the lamest and vaguest of rumors! WORST of all they report it as if it’s coming from the Xbox heads themselves with ā€œinsider knowledgeā€ it’s ridiculous.

The Truth is the games industry itself is stagnant. Over half of the 100 million PlayStation base still prefers to play on PS4. Why? The top games like GTA Online, Fortnite, Call of Duty, FIFA & Rocket league are all playable on last gen consoles. They have no real incentive to upgrade yet. PlayStation has released MOST of the BEST PS5 exclusives on PS4 (GT7, God of War Ragnarok and Horizon Forbidden West) again making the case for a PS5 less enticing. Then we have 2nd party exclusive games NOT selling well on PlayStation with Square Enix literally stating they’re no longer going to release their titles exclusively on platforms.

Why does this matter? Well it brings me to Xbox which has demonstrated the idea of bringing games to PlayStation to access a larger player base. We know console sales have stayed about the same for the past couple generations. The player base is NOT growing organically enough. This is where Xbox has been trying to think outside the box. With Gamepass players who own a freaking phone can play games like Starfield via Xbox Cloud Gaming which is actually brilliant. It opens up their service to over a billion devices going outside the normal console market. This is where I TRULY believe Xbox is playing the long game. We know AAA gaming can’t sustain it’s growing costs selling games at $70 a piece to a market cap that isn’t growing. This is why we’re seeing Sony bring it’s biggest PlayStation exclusives to PC, it needs the additional sales to recover the money invested to make the games.

Xbox is just now starting to hit it’s stride. In 2024 we have more exclusives launching for Xbox than PlayStation has! If someone told me in 2020 that Xbox would launch more exclusives in a year than PlayStation has in the last 2 years I would’ve laughed out loud but here we are. Aside from great exclusives in 2024 Xbox also has Call of Duty Black Ops 6 releasing straight into gamepass day one. This is absolutely HUGE for Xbox. Everyone with a smartphone could theoretically subscribe to gamepass to play the new COD. What’s more interesting is that it now makes the case for those 50 million people playing COD solely on PS4 to make the switch to Xbox. Why? Xbox has a cheap entry level next gen console that blows the PS4 out the water and can be paired with gamepass to make for the ultimate Call of Duty machine. It’s those casual players who’ve yet to upgrade that can potentially boost Xbox Series console sales thanks to Xbox now being home to the best selling first person shooter series of all time.

It makes some sense for all manufacturers to go multiplatform as some point. From a business perspective why sell a game to an audience of 50 million when it can sell the same game to an audience of 150 million. This is the reason COD is still releasing on last gen, it needs the biggest audience possible. I can guarantee at some point PlayStation will no longer be exclusive hell it’s already happening with them primarily being a PS5+PC publisher now. Just as Xbox has done with their Xbox+PC releases.

Now what bothers me the most is the biased Xbox hate that so clearly happens even from Xbox centric gaming sites. It’s crazy to witness stories released based on the lowest of rumor sources. One thing I see in comments is ā€œXbox needs to die alreadyā€ let me make something VERY CLEAR the game industry specifically the high end console market would NOT benefit from the death of Xbox. Sony would bend its playerbase over a barrel WORSE than it already does without competition from Xbox. We’ve seen leaked documents Sony wants to sell games for $150 per game which is why they’ve floated the idea of selling a game into 3 parts. $50 for part one, $50 for part 2 and $50 for part 3. Part of the reason things like that don’t happen is because of the market competition Xbox gives to PlayStation. Xbox and PlayStation BOTH push each other to become better.

TLDR lol I’m sorry for the long winded response. I’m a passionate gamer who loves both Xbox and PlayStation. Yes, I have a soft spot for Xbox due to the amazing people I’ve met on Xbox Live. Nothing I write is to be a fan boy or a console warrior but it’s coming from a gamer who owns both consoles and who’s owned both consoles every generation since the PS2 + OG Xbox era. I’ve invested time and money into these ecosystems & I want people to realize that at the end of the day we are here for the GAMES. The consoles would be nothing without the games! So let’s enjoy the GAMES and stop speculating the demise of an ecosystem. Instead be happy there’s another ecosystem for people to enjoy games in at all. Long Live Xbox, happy gaming :v:

I’m not convinced that bringing Halo to PS would be the solution. Did it you solved the issue on bringing it PC? I’m not following closely, but it really helped Sea of Thieves? They could create a Halo online free to play spinoff thing and bring it to all plataforms, but main line series?? Should never go PS, and I’m not even convinced was a good idea bringing it to PC, same for Gears of War.

Honestly this just feels like some copium nonsense.

People should accept the reality, there’s no coming back after MS started porting games, the first wave was about some minor and GaaS games, next wave won’t be Fable, of course, but it’ll be way bigger than the first one with Starfield, Hellblade 2, Doom, Etc

MS’s months away from being considered another third party, it is how it is, they aren’t going to kill Xbox Series tho anyways.

It was absolutely a good idea to bring it to PC. They’ve grown to be bigger than ever before as a company by doing that.

ā€œanother third party?ā€ really?

Yeah, I agree with you, but I’m talking specifically about Halo and Gears and how PC release didn’t really helped a lot to make them more popular. I don’t think everything in everywhere is best decision they could take. In my opinion, there are limits that if crossed will really damage the brand identity.

looks like Tom removed the Halo part in his article

Just another 3rd party platform holder

Okay, now I’m questioning this year to be a double turn year. Yes, I’m using wrestling terms and by that I mean those who are respected by Xbox fans are turning heel and vice versa. What a weird year.

It seems like we keep going around in circles with this multiplatform talk. I mean is it really a big deal? I just see it as: If Halo for example becomes really big on PS then sure Xbox loses an exclusive but gains a much larger franchise. If Halo doesn’t move the needle on PS, then no need to make it a muliform and maybe they steal away a few customers who really liked the game.

That said I still think this multiplat push is to help with government regulators.
