The Big ol' Xbox 3rd Party Releases Discussion Thread (HiFi, SoT, Pentiment, Grounded) (Part 2)

Seems to me like Microsoft is trying to put some games on PS to let their fans see how good some of the games actually are and have them then question themselves of why they are paying 70 dollars per game when they can play every game Bethesda/ABK/XGS make for a subscription price.

At the same time, there is no regulatory argument that Microsoft is withholding the content or degrading it because some of these games have worked better on PS. Microsoft is well below the monopoly threshold what’s to stop them from buying Take-Two & EA if the games are going everywhere and their console sales are abysmal?

It almost seems like this is a well-thought-out plan to make money while failing hardware wise at the same time being able to buy more publishers and prepare for a console-less future 10-20 years out.

Was I mad and upset about exclusivity at first i was but if people want to pay 70 a pop good on them as long as i can play in game pass and future Xbox hardware will exist I’m good. Put the games everywhere they can let PS and Nintendo players subsidize the bigger 3rd party titles we get in Game Pass and money to buy more Publishers.

Well said. Game Pass is their business now and if it takes off after this showcase that will in my opinion determine their pivot. Just the games that are now releasing in Game Pass shows how much they are pushing it. All they need now is to market it to the casuals like at a Superbowl game. I would imagine if game Pass blows up really big all this multiplats talk will be of less importance heck it might determine the future of console gaming with the way sales have been going.

At this point I can’t take anything Microsoft plans or does seriously.

According Nate Drake this Tom Warren list isn’t nearly complete.

Nate/Shinobi said nothing is off the table.

The can of worms has already been opened. All Xbox games going forward are going to be in discussion for multiplatform release.

To be fair…maybe this is what keeps the brand / games in the mind of players.

So…good?..I guess…

Nate Drake, same guy that backtracked the Starfield rumour. Also said few years ago that Banjo is in development.

We know nothing is off the table. Don’t need people repeating the same stuff over and over again.

You have to necessarily look at everything before ever deciding what is on or off the table. Right now, I think they are just purposely misleading everyone. They are getting to a place where they will make official answers available to the big press like they did with COD.

Oh for sure. I remember this exact writer Tom Warren making an article about Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II being “considered” for PS5.

Until it becomes official. his write-up is a huge nothing-burger, only written to provoke and stir up clicks lol.

They are never going to draw a line in the sand and give the clarity so many desire. They will give corpro speak and dance around the issue. Expecting anything else from them is a complete waste of time in my opinion.

Even if they do lay everything out in complete black and white, people won’t believe them anyway.

Unless he has first hand new info, but…i think you could be right.

Even Xbox centric channels, can he just not wait until after Sunday? Guess not.

Here is @Jez’s article, well worth a click.

So it sounds like the word “considered” is doing a lot of heavy lifting from the original article from the Verge. As Jez said yes things can change but it’s very interesting that he says as of this month a lot of the games mentioned by the Verge aren’t in active development for the PS5.

So it comes down to who’s sources are best/most up to date it seems. Regardless (yes i know it’s technically on Microsoft in some way) it’s a shame that all this noise is coming so close to the showcase

Edit: A shame Jez couldnt shed any further light on this so called Halo Remaster. I must admit if it ended up being a Resident Evil 4 style remake of Combat Evolved i’d very much be excited by that!

halo on ps is where I think of phils words saying if they lose thier way with halo they lost it with xbox. To me the console is done at that point,

Honestly, he was overstating the IPs importance at this point. Halo hasn’t pushed Xbox sales in 15 years.

it doesn’t matter. its the flagship IP. Halo is XBOX.

Enjoy the games for now.

If Xbox consoles disappear/stop receiving most of third party games, look elsewhere.

If it’s a UE5 remake then sure, I’m interested. But if it’s just another remaster then why.

Seems like as safe a test as the could do with the Halo IP on other consoles. Would rather see Halo Infinite’s excellent multi-player get an even larger player base, but I understand how that could send some Xbox fans into a downward spiral.
