The Big ol' Xbox 3rd Party Releases Discussion Thread (HiFi, SoT, Pentiment, Grounded) (Part 1)

Welcome.

Yeah, it’s the manifest futility of the endeavour which confuses me the most.

Exactly my idea, years of Starfield PS5 clickbait wasn’t enough apparently.

I’m waiting the thing becomes real for hearing some MS wishy washy statement about it.

Simply because this is just the beginning, they are not releasing Hi Fi Rush and SoT because one is on its last days (still sells well actually) and the other didn’t sell much.

It feels like back in 2020 with the Horizon game going to PC case, nah it wasn’t just a game, it was the beginning of a big move.

I’m 100% sure and i’d even bet money Hi Fi Rush and SoT wont be the only 2 first party games from MS that we know that are going to PS5 too.

I guess it makes sense for MS to test the waters and release some games elsewhere, but consumers want clarity and to have confidence in the brand.

I feel like they are opening a can of worms with Hi-Fi Rush going multiplatform as it’s not a small game. If it was me, I would have locked that game and Psychonauts 2 too.

It’s not gatekeeping, it is getting the value where it matters the most and having a clear message to the consumer.

Hi-Fi Rush could have a sequel release that we know now won’t be exclusive anymore. It kind of suck, even though it’s cool more people play this game.

And what about other games ? Flight Sim ? Forza ? Age of Empires ? Because they’re kind of niche too.

MS/Xbox is up for some shenanigans again and I don’t like it.

Well I’ve been saying it many many times. Very few here or in the Xbox community are going to care about Microsoft Gaming being the biggest publisher in the world. Like how there wasn’t “Tencent fans” or “ABK fans”. People are very attached to the Xbox console hardware and this is a pretty big devalue to it.

Microsoft Gaming to me at least is glorified ABK.

I think SoT makes a lot of sense though, the community needs a shot in the arm.

I don’t think anyone arguing in good faith can, hand on heart, suggest that they expect to see Halo or Gears or Forza etc etc on Playstation - no matter their reasons for putting HFR out there.

We’ve been having this discussion for years though. At the time of the Zenimax acquisition because there was evidence Starfield and Elder Scrolls 6 would be console multiplat. Shortly after we had reputable sources suggesting MS were readying GamePass console multiplat. On and on it goes.

Meanwhile people have been upset at Ori 2 and Psychonauts 2 and other games going elsewhere, but it’s been so infrequent, so particular, and so drowned out by the many MS studios that are remaining first party that it’s mute.

ABK and TenCent don’t have hardware and I see no reason to think Xbox will not.

If people want to wait much, their choice, I can also argue the same with PS games, especially that Spiderman 2 PC got leaked and fixed probably eight to twelve months before its intended release, just yesterday they got Until Dawn remaster. Whats a Playstation for?

I’ll stand by my statement that ABK deal going through killed Xbox . PlayStation will get hifi rush before we even get ABK games on gamepass lol

I mean, SoT is made by Rare which is an Xbox studio since many current Xbox fans weren’t even born (not me, I’m old enough to have played with Master System), it would be much more significant than HFR, being it a big game.

I see no credible scenario for being this a great move, it makes no sense for me to jeopardize an entire platform for the sake of a small game and of a gaas on the way down (even if sot dies in its 7th years, good riddance imo)

Microsoft will always make an Xbox console, purely for game pass. If the the unlikely scenario they go nuclear and put everything on PS/Switch day 1 does that mean death of the xbox? No chance.

There’s always going to be a core of 20-25 million gamers that prefer Xbox regardless of multiplatform games, and that number is more than enough to sustain the console and decent third party support. Let’s not forget there’s several million Xbox One players who have yet to move on to Xbox Series and will do so as the boatload of current gen games comes over the next couple of years.

You should all be positive, their first party looks increasingly better than Sony’s over the coming years and I think there’ll be a lot more console sales than people expect.

He got from Tumblr but there was an update today

I mean, the real value of Xbox is Game Pass. Nothings changed? Like I couldn’t actually buy a PS5 and cough up €70 a game and I wouldn’t. I wouldn’t have payed for HFR if I had to, but I played it because it was right there on GP.

WTF is Tumblr?

I’ve bit my tongue on this subject thus far but with there being more and more mounting evidence that Xbox will be porting 1st Party Exclusives to rival platforms I can’t help but feel somewhat bitter. As others have already stated I think it’s insane that Sony are out there doing backroom deals to ensure that IP’s that they don’t even own like Final Fantasy and Silent Hill never come to Xbox while Phil and Co are drawing up plans on how best to make Playstation users happy by giving away some of Xbox’s most sought after games. Sony are in a first party drought this year and are vulnerable for the first time in ages thanks to the ABK acquisition, and you want to alleviate that now of all times by porting one of the most critically acclaimed games of 2023 just a year after it’s release while 4 years on we still can’t even get a rats fart with of info on Final Fantasy 7 Remake? Why can Xbox never be as ruthless as their competitors?

He follows up by saying that someone else datamined it and posted it on Tumblr. He simply found it.

It’s still legit.

A random guy found a random post on tumblr, we can’t say “it’s legit”. We don’t actually know that
