One thing we know in tech. specifically gaming plans change all the time. For all we know in a year Sony is the one doing third party stuff and Xbox decided not to. Lol
Stranger things have happened.
I’d much rather MS insulate the Xbox ecosystem by continuing to expand and diversify how MS can make good revenue and allow the hardware to be subsidized by all the other income streams possible. Mobile with ABK will be a windfall of easy revenue .
If releasing some exclusives that make sense like Sea of thieves and other games where a larger palyer base will help the game expand then I’m all for it, l do not care if Sony players help subsidized the improvement and release of future Xbox hardware let them help my own gaming habits. Its the least they can do for me after decades of being annoying fucking internet trolls.
If MS continued to rely SOLELY on hardware sales and did not diversify the revenue stream Xbox probably would have already been shut down.
MS actions make it easier to keep putting out good hardware without the need to fully depend on it for everything.
So… Jez has created a really weird poll on Twitter to ask Xbox fans…
What do you prefer?
- All Xbox first party games are 100% exclusive but they no longer release day one on GP
- All (most?) Xbox first party games go multiplatform but they still release day one on GP
I think there may be something happening behind the scenes.
In the second scenario, will people still find purchasing Xbox consoles worth it?
I doubt either of those scenarios are going to happen, Jez is most likely just farming engagement using extremes.
He is just an attention whore.
Nah. Its just Jez having idiotic takes again.
It’s more of fun scenario to talk about. Don’t read into it. That said interesting choice.
Option one directly impacts me and will cost me way more money a year almost making gamepass not worth it.
Let other platforms get these games if it saves me hundreds of dollars a year.
With ABK Xboxs first party is massive I want these on gamepass.
Well personally I think both choices are bad but I’m firmly in the GP or nothing position, I’m done paying for games anymore, especially at £70, id barely play games at all anymore without GP so it would be option B for me since unless GP came to PS it wouldn’t really change much for me
for 100% exclusive option would the xbox games join gamepass after 6-12 months? I think Microsoft can’t walk back on day 1s on gamepass because that pretty much kills the entire value proposition of it and it becomes PS+ extra/premium. I think a valid question if he’s going with that scenario is COD and Blizzard games not day one but everything else is. I think that’s the only scenario would make sense if moving away from day 1
I think a lot of stuff like Sea of Thieves for example and even Halo Infinite or Fallout 76 could be ported over to mobile as free to plays to great success. Sea of Thieves especially I could see it work really well in the mobile realm now that they’re adding fast travel and quicker rewards when you are short on time.
Don’t need those games on other systems, mobile is there to the rescue!
Game Pass is important enough to me that they could release every game on other consoles and I’d still buy an Xbox if it was the only platform with Game Pass.
Yep, I think the possibility of COD on GP is making people, inside and outside MS, question many things. Is there a risk of losing a percentage of its revenue? What do you do? Create a higher tier? Price increase? Not putting it on GP? (Worse option imo), etc…
Yeah, I think only valid discussion about that is COD not being day one and possibly blizzard games. I don’t think they can create a tier higher than ultimate because that’s messy. Personally, I wouldn’t be shocked if they reconsider COD due to how much it sells, but including COD day one is for them to test out and see the power COD can have to increase subs.
Maybe, just maybe, NateTheHate and others got the company wrong and it’s not Xbox but Playstation. A few of these were in GoTY discussions.
TLOU Part 2, God of War Ragnarok, Demon’s Souls, Ghost of Tsushima, Gran Turismo 7
More like they were spreading FUD to distract from the fact that Sony were doing this. The notion that Xbox/MS NEED Playstation in order to succeed in gaming is one that I wish would die already tbh. It’s clearly not the case.
COD, Minecraft, the odd MP games even Sea of Thieves if they want , sure . But Halo, Forza Gear , KI etc are doing just fine without being on Playstation and have been for years.
I think I general it makes sense for Xbox to have their games in more places if they are making people go into their ecosystem. So something like an app with a launcher and store like Amazon Prime Video is.
I don’t use Game Pass, so it is an easy choice, on what one I’d choose.
First of all, his poll did NOT say most games will go multiplatform. Rather there will be day 1 releases on GP, but more games will go multiplatform.
