The Big ol' Xbox 3rd Party Releases Discussion Thread (HiFi, SoT, Pentiment, Grounded) (Part 1)

Cuz I don’t want to pay $70 for it

There is nothing to clear up when it is just a ‘rumour’ and even if it is confirmed, it is only an edge case. I find it extremely hard to believe that someone who has invested in their digital library on a certain platform, which also offers Game Pass, would decide to leave all that for another platform that will be another $500 investment with the assumption that all the exclusives will eventually show up on this platform years later AND that you would be willing to pay full price on it. You would do this instead of playing an exclusive day and date on the best subscription service? Sorry, I am not buying that.

Id keep my S, for sure. Id still have the games I’ve purchased. But I’d definitely switch if this is the route they decide to go. $500 isn’t that bad for me. Not to mention all the games I’ve never rocked on the other systems. That’s just me, though

Been randomly thinking about this the last couple of days, can’t speak for anyone else but yeah, even if xbox exclusives went day and date on PS for example it still wouldn’t get me unless it had Game Pass as well

I have absolutely no interest in paying 70 quid for games, quite frankly I don’t have much interest in buying games at all since GP was a thing, far too many games to play as it is

I’m weirdly of a different mindset. I feel like there’s too much to play, which is making me debate about lowering myself to GP Core.

I’ve been too busy with the backlog to really play too much on the sub service itself. Heck, I’m not really picking up anything on sales either lately.

I also come form the mindset though of buying the stuff I really enjoy (or really look forward to) even if its coming to Game Pass (especially if its something Japanese that could use the extra support).

Now, if you play multiple games on the service every month, I absolutely understand where your sentiment is. I just feel like I’ve only used GP for… well Party Animals as of late. lol

It’s on the show they did earlier today.

This quote of “published everywhere” gave me a panic attack!

The year was 2007, I was in college completing my final semester of my bachelors degree.

I received a phone call saying leave $10,000 at the docks or your photo’s will be published everywhere. For context I had done a photo shoot in the summer of 2005 dressed up as a baby with an oversized novelty lollipop.

They even had a video of me say Mmmmmm I like Wowwypop.

My point is this. Once the photos were published everywhere it was somewhat freeing and I had found solace in that.

Ya. Gamers love to pay high money. They are very proud of it.

Then do it now. Buy PS5 or switch now.

I can get money for doing that?

The anti-Xbox sentiment online is so profitable that Microsoft has decided to choose who can speak for the company, and who cannot. Now, Microsoft dictates the Xbox communication. By not answering these tweets, they send the message that these accounts are irrelevant to us gamers.

It doesn’t matter who was right or wrong: Nate, Jeff, Shinoni and Colt are hurting the company for their personal interests. Nate’s comment that “*if all of us rumongers say it’s true then it is”*was a wake-up call for me… It’s negation of all the fundamentals of journalism for the sake of his bank account, and it was painful to read.

I guess because Rand and co know Nate and are cool with him that they don’t want to say what they probably would had it been said by someone else, that this is more than likely FUD. Again the timing of this rumor is so suspect to me. I am not friends with Nate nor know him personally so I have zero reason to trust anything he has to say nor care about his reasoning for it. Neither Rand nor Jez are co signing Nate’s claims either making it that much more suspect.

The FUD did it’s job perfectly too , obviously. Since right now people are talking about this rumor as much if not more than the upcoming Developer Direct with Indiana Jones gameplay for the first time! ( not to mention the chance that it may be dropping this year) Any game they show will be questioned if it will eventually come to PS, this vapid conversation that plagued the Blade reveal will do so for every game now with no end in sight.

I have largely move on from this conversation, it’s just a wait and see for me, but all this sudden rise of “insider” info’s floating around is very sus not gonna lie. Shinobi in particular rubs me the wrong way imo. For a supposed “game” dev , his lips are way too loose, so it’s either he don’t care/or not scared about leaking things or he is full of shit.

There definitely was a market for it. Between that and stealing peoples dogs and returning them for reward money. That was my main source of income for over a decade!

Yes, it’s probably FUD basically all the credible insiders like Grubb ever heard was Sea of thieves or GAAS which has been a speculation that has been around since Xbox got Minecraft, there was even the Halo one which was at some point discussed but Frank said no code was ever touched. The fact that no one else knows of Hi-Fi rush in my opinion says it’s probably not true. Another thing is most studios that do GAAS are large for Rare to take SOT multiplat they will probably need to hire more as an external studio might have to at some point want to move on with their own things.

One question to ask is what sells consoles, or these platforms and the answer is probably going to be a mix of different things. I for one don’t think exclusives are what’s driving sales. The top selling games on consoles are all multiplatform games. I would think for me it’s the experience.

It seems he’s talking about ABK here, but mixing PR talk with this is going to make stuff messy. If they ever release a non-ABK game on other platforms then they need to explain themselves

I’m sure he’s being cagey a little here, but this is still a future they see.

The thing is, MS is already doing exactly what Satya is saying with COD, Fallout 76, ES: Online, Overwatch, etc.

If I develop three different games (let’s call them A, B and C) and give Xbox A, Sony B and Nintendo C, I am building great games and delivering them to folks across all platforms.

The problem is, you are going to have the media and others with poor comprehension skills run with this as ‘Oh No, Xbox is full third party now’.
