I would be surprised if you have trouble getting HW in central Europe. We still have Amazon and MS store.
If they sell their IPs there wouldn’t the hardware have to be available? I honestly doubt they’d rely on sales on other platforms for that only, unless the whole Xbox ecosystem goes to PC and even then
Don’t underestimate how dire it is for Xbox in Europe now though, but I hope you’re right.
I know I live in Germany lol.
If Steam can sell Steamdeck in Europe why should it be a problem for Xbox.
That’s true. So it should be OK, unless they disable the option for Europeans to order one. But why would they, right? We’d probably have to buy a different power cable though, since US and European power sockets are different. But maybe we won’t even need that. We’ll see.
You’d likely still be able to order it on the MS website - I imagine like most multi-nationals they probably keep stock in a few central locations then ship from there, so they’d have the UK one plus a few in certain parts of Europe that would cover you.
Also Amazon would definitely sell it still - and they definitely ship stuff from all over, as about a third of my parcels come from their mainland European depots rather than the UK ones.
At the moment we don’t know anything - even Jez says it’s just the expected stuff at the moment - so let’s see how it plays out.
It’s possible they don’t actually release that much (as someone said, it takes a while to port games), or they go everything but given console sales are supposedly 5 to 1 in PS’s favour this last quarter it may not make much difference anyway as those sales can’t go down by much more even if it’s just people buying them to be Game Pass machines.
Basically, if the numbers are skewed that much in PS’s favour anyway, it might not make much difference what the plan is - in that case, them releasing major games such as CoD on Game Pass and doing something different next gen (a dockable handheld and a powerful one, both able to use PC stores for example is a major innovation) may be the only way to fight back, much more so than exclusives.
None of our current exclusives seemed to have moved the needle much, so I’m a bit meh on them going elsewhere anyway now - we’ll still likely have exclusivity (at least for a decent while) on Gears 6, Forza Horizon 6 and many others anyway, and if they’re still not enough then at least we’ve got the roll of the dice with the new consoles and their “something different”.
In the future scenario, even if the Series consoles don’t sell much more and none of the new games move the needle, we’ll still have access to a new console that has all these games on Game Pass (which will likely still be enough to sell a few million consoles at the minimum, enough for Microsoft to continue HW production) and it seems likely we’d also be able to play all the PC games too - and that would likely help those Xbox sales be much higher than a normal straight fight against PlayStation would be.
And in that world, we’ve way more games than PlayStation to play.
So chill out, no one really knows anything yet - let’s just wait and see how it plays out, save panicking for actual confirmed bad news, not just rumours
And Xbox is much bigger than the Surface brand and we can get a Surface laptop without a problem in Europe.
There has been 0 indication of xbox leaving hardware. The only indications point to more hardware than ever before.
Is there a scenario where xbox makes a console that sells to hardcore xbox fans, maybe 30-40 million units, and most third party devs still support the platform? That is all i reaply care about at this point.
There’s no reason for devs to skip the platform unless it’s for a very niche title or very small indie. Anyone who acts like publishers are going to leave the platform are just being dicks
Unlikely, they can’t even sell 30M Series X and S nearly 4 years into the gen
They are at about 30 million sold in 4 years so in a hypothetical scenario where Xbox has a high end PC and handheld i think they could succeed in selling to 25-30 million customers
Do we have evidence of a 30M number? Because right now I’m reading 22M
Even then they sold 800k in a quarter which comes out to 3.2M per year, this is with the console having some exclusives
an Xbox with no exclusives and with Game Pass offerings being extremely mid lately and the rumored price hike, I doubt the next Xbox will even match the OG Xbox numbers
It’s looking like Xbox is gonna be the next EA, Ubisoft, who have their own stores but 1st party available everywhere else to purchase. I’m at the point where I’m at peace with that. Still have a store to buy games from, both 1st and 3rd party games. Sell a cut down PC with the Xbox and Microsoft Store apps on it I’m in on that. Everything else like this article is noise to me.
only time I’ll get the alarms ringing is if they ditch their platform entirely. No more store, only sell games to competitors yeah small chance that happens but it’s not 0%. that’s when I’m gonna panic if that happens lol
Gamepass is absolutely killing it, and that’s before Avowed, Indy, and COD
The 800k is an assumption not a fact. It could be less or more. I think someone said it was like 1.3 million but who knows.
About a year ago there was a leak from an ID@Xbox event where they claimed they had sold 21 million consoles. We know they sold around 8 million consoles last year and a large bulk of those were during the holidays. We also have analysts who have estimated they are around 30 million sold.
The scenario is the one where MS merges Pc and console development into one better than ever before so that devs don’t have to develop 2 different versions, which guarantees everything can come to Xbox. I think that’s where they’re heading to be honest, at least according to leaks and to what they allude to in interviews.
Who said it was 1.3M?
