The Big ol' Xbox 3rd Party Releases Discussion Thread (HiFi, SoT, Pentiment, Grounded) (Part 1)

I never buy a game Day 1 almost and wait for sales, it’s quite easy to do if you wait a few months to buy all your stuff.

To my point earlier, I really don’t have a strong feeling about all of this one way or the other. And until we get actual confirmation that this stuff is happening, I will continue to be indifferent.

I still can’t believe the amount of traction “Jeff Grubb has heard that SoT might also be a game being considered” has gotten here.

I do own several of the analogue consoles to be able to play older classics as originally intended, as a lots of people do. Nintendo Switch Online exists you know and quite a lot of people play the older games there. You realize a lot of people play those older games, right? Heck, fucking AGDQ is basically a huge commercial for classic games. Game preservation is quite the important subject and not something to make fun of. The fact you make fun of it actually actually makes me doubt you actually care about games to be honest.

You act like people only play the latest and greatest. You realize a big reason why MS bought all those developers is for their back catalog, right?

Again, you’re missing the point, people have already spent money on Xbox’s platform, 100s if not 1000s of £/$

If person X spends money on Xbox and then finds out that those games are coming to another platform he could have bought that instead while also getting their exclusives too, that would have been the more worthwhile investment

Especially if all this leads to Xbox hardware being irrelevant as those 100s/1000s of £$ could have been spent on a platform with a hardware future like PS or PC

They’d probably make a week’s worth of COD DLC money. Maybe less lol. Doesn’t seem worth the PR headache to me.

Why wait for a sale when you can jump in right away and pay nothing extra?

Yeah, it’s about our personal finance people!!! We always forget that we are living in hard times right now, and money is tight for some folks.

What makes you think I am making fun old games? PC is just better at most of the emulation which is a fact.

Your old console may die due to age and you may not be able to find its replacement.

But emulation software will work on any new PC forever.

Why lend? It’s nothing, he can gift us 500$ each!

You are not even gifting “nothing” to fellow forum posters? Really disappointing!

Quite obvious to me that certain people are arguing in bad faith, I’ve seen no real argument from them beyond “lol console wars”. It’s pretty apparent now what that’s about.

Not exactly much better, the fact they are looking into it at all is pretty damning imo

Ya… This is the point I don’t get in all this. Maybe they don’t get headache from this.

Or, you know, I actually don’t care. Read the thread. I own almost 1000 games on Xbox alone. That money is gone. 5, 10, 15 years from now I will not care, at all, that my copy of Trepang2 that I paid $30 is no longer accessible. I have all kinds of Wii/Virtual console titles I paid good money for, they are gone. And I don’t care. I can just go download them off the internet.

And if you are making digital purchases you need to be aware that this is what you signed up for. You don’t own it, the law supports that you have no ownership of it, and you have essentially paid for an extended rental. It is what it is.

I am not telling YOU not to care. I am saying I dont.

The question shouldn’t be whether that person feels bad about their purchase retroactively based on possible future events (this still blows my mind, but whatever), but rather whether that person had fun with their purchase and felt like they got their money’s worth.

If these events make that person decide to buy something else going forward, that’s totally on that person and there’s nothing wrong with that.

I don’t lament my decision to not invest in Apple or Microsoft. I don’t bemoan my decision to buy a car when there’s another car that’s better ten years later.

Shit, I’m doing it again.

The lack of empathy and understanding in this thread is absolutely wack even if expected
