If new releases are Xbox and PC only, where you have to wait at least a year and pay for it elsewhere, while Game Pass subscribers get the first-class treatment of new things throughout the year for $10-$15/mo…why the fuck would you invest in Playstation for those games? And especially when you know Playstation games are all going PC eventually and there’s talks of raising game prices to $80.
With Game Pass / Xbox or PC, you are getting the most value for your dollar far and beyond what you can get elsewhere. What are you losing?
At that point, I’m considering Xbox or PC as my main platform to get all the big stuff day and date with Game Pass, while having PS or Switch as my consoles only for exclusives.
How does any other way make sense for someone wanting the most value for their money?
What if he didn’t want those specific exclusives though? Everyone will get to make that choice obviously, but acting like everything is going to be everywhere and assuming everyone has the exact same gaming tastes doesn’t make sense to me.
Anyway, I’m tired of trying to play devil’s advocate on this stuff. For those that are going to reply to me, you’re right, I’m wrong. Let’s just end it there, because this whole topic is the biggest waste of f***ing time I could possibly think of.
What I can’t quantify myself is, assuming the rumor is true, how much does bringing Hi-Fi to PlayStation move the needle for Xbox in regard to building IP cache and generating revenue?
How far back does that needle move when it comes to brand perception and value proposition? It doesn’t seem worth it.
If Developer Direct does happen this month, I think they should clear the air before it arrives. Chat room will be spammed to no end, even if it’s recorded.
500 dollars is a lot of money. Specially in countries with weaker financial conditions. Here in Brazil, a console is a luxury item, and probably a one in a decade purchase. When you buy something like that, you have to analyze the pros and cons of each product in this market.
IMO, the 2 biggest pros of Xbox were Game Pass and exclusives. If games go multiplatform, effectively one of these biggest pros is gone.
The problem isn’t that more people are playing games. It is that Microsoft was not upfront about it. They sold the Series X as the place to play Xbox exclusives, and this may not be true at all(I’m considering the worst case scenario).
Here I’m Brazil, a XSX is worth more than 3 months of minimum wage. Imagine working 3 months to acquire one console, and then you choose to spend these money on a Xbox because you want to play Halo, Sea of Thieves and Forza. Then, a few years laters these same games release on the PS5. You will just feel lied to.
