Indeed, but its not going to be a mass exodus. Its going to be somewhere between.
Yes, if you’re financially responsible there are ways to get similiar entertainment value, but that also requires a change. A bit of mentality change in not having the try and play any game from that menu and having impulse control and not being hit with FOMO. I’m not sure most people can change. I am sure nost people can not be financially responsible either.
It’s also about comfort and laziness, if one system has all the games and one doesn’t… That might play a big part too even if you remove the financial responsibility thing.
I will say if Xbox is able to run steam and I really can play those steam games on a switch like device or console. It’s 2ecosystems in one. Maybe even Sony games too unless that’ gets blocked by them. It really could be a system with everything a gamer needs everything on one Xbox …………an Xbox ….one
This is exactly it imo. If they go this route, then it doesn’t make sense to spend $500 on a console + $15/month for a reccuring sub.
Games these days drop in price quickly, so I am sure some would be okay to wait for certain xbox games when they launch on a Playstation console . There are of course some day ones, but not everybody buys games at launch and many just wait for a price drop, which will happen with some of these games.
Absolutely. No sense in not going where your enjoyment is only available at. Fortunately for consumers, its been a boon to most devs and publishers to become or remain multiplatform.
MS needs to keep or lower the barrier to getting “xbox ports” when working on PC versions. Make it effortless or cheap enough from time and resources perspective, that none would pass it up.
Unless it’s from software game or god of war I buy every game on ps at 20 bucks or less. 20 is rare really I buy most games for 10 bucks plus vplay the free games with ps plus. I also tend to 100%/platinum games and I beat all games I start. The issue is that really doesn’t make a subscription worth it for me as I’m not playing tons of games . It’s something I consider
Are those purchases digital or physical, if physical, is it new games at bargain prices or from the used/second hand market?
Sidenote: from a Sony Corporation perspective, if anyone is mostly buying used physical games then they are part of the problem Sony has with margins. Nothing wrong with this consumer behavior, but its not doing the company financials any good. This is not our concern until the company tries to force an unsuitable solution.
Sounds like that shadowz guy who said he’s “hearing about the gears collection/ps5” shit doesn’t actually have any sources. Just that he’s seen what the “xbox 2, jeff grubb, and tomwarren” are saying…
add in a little “ps5 port” spice and engagement is go!
I mean, i did hear he was always a good journalist. But i also did hear he tends to to annoy the hell of some game developers for some of the questions like the one mentioned previously, which seems like the one question that really makes some of them angry with him.
