The Big ol' Xbox 3rd Party Releases Discussion Thread (HiFi, SoT, Pentiment, Grounded) (Part 1)

Comments like what Jez said, just makes it more likely to anger gamers and then hurt Xbox, so Microsoft is forced to put their games on other systems, so they can make money from that game.

I just wish people would stop adding wood to the fire and let Xbox breath again, because if not all these future Xbox games that are coming out soon, won’t do as well as they should, because people believe they will be on PlayStation soon.

We were just told only these four games and this just kills any excitement for Xbox or its future games.

So, I just wish people would stop trying to kill off Xbox, because gaming will be worse off with less competition and cost more money, because of what they did.

This is so silly IMO, Microsoft doesn’t even know what their plan will be in 4+ years from now when that game actually comes out.

This was Tom speculating, not reporting.

Absolutely not

It’s reporting when it backs up what you think lol

Exactly, while it’s probably a safe bet considering the way Xbox and the industry in general is going to go, the game is half a decade away, pointless to even talk about

I’ve seen enough Jez tweets to not take anything he says on there seriously, unless he put’s out an article, it’s usually nonsense or “feelings based Jez”

I honestly think they didn’t think it would be this big of a deal. So yeah, they kinda are out of touch lol.

I don’t think they would have just announced those games like that without saying anything.

Starfield was what, 6 years in development?

So Elder Scrolls 6 is next generation really, at least 5 years out - and they seriously need to upgrade the Creation engine further or make other plans, as a game in 2029 with a 5 second loading screen as you exit a tiny shop and every NPC only having 2/3 lines of dialogue outside of missions would bomb in reviews - this will be post GTA6 and many other “immersive” / boundary-pushing games.

(I say this as someone who did get 80 to 100 hours out of Starfield but thought it struggled against Hogwarts Legacy plus a number of AA games I played last year, and who adored Oblivion and Skyrim)

So either it’ll take much longer (in which case who knows the state of exclusives by then) or it’ll need all the help it can get review-wise anyway, where being on PlayStation too seems to help.

It’s also an existing franchise so one of the few instances I think a Day 1 release elsewhere might be acceptable (that plus GaaS) - it’s why I also understand Hellblade 2 if it did (would just be irritated that they’ve previously advertised it as a console exclusive)

TBH I’m not sure which would have been better or worse.

Maybe the uproar from the leaks caused them to postpone/cancel some other games they had planned.

Maybe it always was just these 4 games and with no build up would have been less dramatic and would have been similar to previous announcements e.g. Ori.

People really need to watch the clip, or even the whole podcast, before commenting smh.

Yeah he’s just speculating, his own thoughts not anything he’s heard - to be honest it’s Xbox’s official position anyway, existing franchises will still release elsewhere so it’s not some big revelation if it did happen

Seeing comments in that Reddit thread that 2030 is expected for next gen. I really, really doubt this. And not only for Xbox, PS just as much. Didn’t Sony say PS5 was entering it’s later stages of its life cycle or something? And we had rumors about next Xbox in 2026. No idea if that will happen, but neither do I believe as late as 2030.

As for TES VI, I bet with this new approach they will just wait and see how games will sell on other systems. And I guess we haven’t even gotten to that point yet, because these four games won’t exactly set the world on fire, sales wise, I’m guessing. I doubt that around the time of its release we’ll have reached the point where all their games are day and date elsewhere.

I just hope the game itself isn’t ridiculously far out, but if it is, I just hope they don’t worry about other versions. Xbox/PC first. I didn’t forget what Pete Hines said.

It’ll be 2026 I reckon or 2027.

GTA6 might be the jump start that this generation needs to pick up momentum.

No you don’t.

Nobody knows what will happen in 2030. For what it worth, games could come first on PC and later on consoles. This hypothesis has as much weight than all X posts of Jez.

I meant, It’s not information but it’s not a joke either, so I’m right.

nope, you were as wrong as it gets.

Yeah, I’m really curious to know wtf the plan actually was. If they had to rush a business update together and/or have it sooner than they planned and change things around, and that was like days before the games was revealed… When the hell did they plan to present it? And how?

These games were/are ready to go. I doubt the ports were thrown together in a couple weeks so should have had plenty of time to sell it to us.

Feels very disorganized.
