It’s what they did with Hi-fi Rush and apparently weren’t happy with the sales results, so then they decide to do so again with a game that’s super niche.
I mean I’m not justifying it either, there’s not really true justification to port smaller titles to other platforms.
They’re not going to make much money on Pentiment or Hi Fi Rush. They’re certainly not hinging their entire business model on how well these titles well. That would be idiotic of them to put so much weight on a visual novel rpg, smaller scale action game and 2 community games.
This is just all simply training Xbox users to get accustomed to a potential future where multiplat form is the norm, not the rarity.
I think it’s fine. They want to be validated. Life as an insider is their reputation.
Sometimes when I go into the rumour subreddit I see so many people bash Nick even tho hes more right than wrong is kinda crazy.
They even bash Nick for a rumour that he never said lmao.
Folks, it’s simply time to admit I’ve been betting on the wrong horse.
Xbox got me because I believed in their Xbox ecosystem vision. My Xbox account syncing everything between console, PC and cloud, while also letting me continue to play my games purchased on Xbox Live in 2005. They did not sell their Xbox console to me because of some kind of all platforms vision in 2018 and 2020. Even back at the Bethesda roundtable in 2021, they promised exclusives to Xbox players. They barely released big titles since, and if they did, they often didn’t meet expectations. This is on the Xbox studios, not on us consumers.
I get it, the market is changing, and marketing promises are nothing more than marketing. But why should I believe their new empty and hollow commitments? I simply don’t.
I’ll say it: To me, the Xbox console is a sinking ship. Maybe not right now, but the next Xbox hardware will be the last one, with more and more indies and Japanese games skipping. I’m moving to PC where I also don’t have to deal with all of those timed exclusives anymore. I’ll still be very interested in Xbox first-party games, as I love the studios, and I will cheer for these teams to do well. But as for the console, I will stop all purchases that are not Play Anywhere. Buying anything console-only feels like buying games on the Wii U digital store by now. It’s a shame, but this is how I feel, because this is only the beginning of what is to come when Xbox starts porting their big games.
I’m really happy for more people to play great games. I’m angry at myself for being a fool in 2018 to switch back from PS4.
Today’s feelings: Xbox give away games and publishers skip Xbox.
Not a good day. Not a good day for us.
The console and hardware space is a sinking ship for all platforms. The future is cloud.
He was the guy who practically said FU to Kojima Team when leaking OD.
Grubb says a lot of things and most of it is pure fiction.
I would just like to be able to play my library on PC and on other capable devices so I can play my games on the go. As it is all these new handhelds are only good for Game Pass and not my Xbox library unless the Play Anywhere titles.
Partially maybe. But the 200 million console players is a global figure. I doubt there’s lots of additional console players that would add to that if Microsoft did better at localization in Europe and Asia. Maybe they’d steal more of that 200 million console players from Sony or Nintendo. But that 200 million figure seems to be the bigger issue.
It probably also has more to do with tablets and phones being a more accessible and cheaper way, since people already have them, to access gaming. PC high end, tablets and phones entry stream… consoles are stuck in the middle.
Probably not for another decade at least. If Xbox were to announce a solution to bring my whole Xbox library to PC, and unify their Xbox and PC offerings, I‘d say I‘d have to walk back on a lot of my points from above. But I don‘t see them doing that, and foresee that I will have a fractured library in a few years, with a Xbox console that won‘t be a good choice anymore. Anything console-only on the store feels like a purchase I shouldn‘t make anymore.
Microsoft still need hardware for their server blades. And they make more money being a platform holder than being a third party publisher.
For the near future we are fine. But the distant future is definitely Cloud.
Hopefully that future is far, far away.
I won’t be interested until the experience is 100% the same as our console experience now. Now artefacts, no lags, visuals, framerate all good. Then I won’t have an issue with it.
I mean, no?
Why should he fabricate stuff ? He’s always a reliable leaker and has a great track record.
Both PS and xbox fans have been betting on the wrong horse.
Summary
Time to invest into Apple Arcade. The only true gaming platform with Tim Apple as the boss.
When he’s caught making stuff up, he just blames the queen’s death lol.
For all we know these four games ARE the only games and they are indeed just testing the waters.
Don’t necessarily have to mean they announce more this year.
It’s neither here or there to me, it’s just the need to be validated. Especially the tweet quoted all seems a bit clout chasing.
Like look at me I knew something you didn’t
