Nate really did all that vague teasing for god damn Pentiment. Clownery.
It wouldn’t be the company doing it, it means he has sources he trusts.
Assinine. Lot of fuss about nothing. How much money is really in those games being released years later anyway?
Just add more MTX to Call of Duty and Overwatch 2.
I know it’s not the most positive reaction given I’ve said I don’t think it’s worst case scenario - but the honest answer is it does feel a bit rubbish when my friends who jumped ship are playing new exclusives and have another just about to come out - in addition to the multi-platform games I’m playing / planning on playing (and very likely soon some of the games from our side).
Yes it’s a bit childish, when my more-into gaming friends say I’m being silly not going PlayStation (and said it last time), and for the second generation running they can honestly say I’ve chosen poorly so far.
I’m looking at what they’re playing, and it looks really decent - none of them felt they were missing out on Starfield or Forza once they’d released, but I do feel like I’m missing out and just like last generation will likely end up getting a PlayStation as well despite me hating Sony’s business practices.
It’s negative, it’s stupid and I wish I could be more grown up about it - but sometimes I just have to be honest it’s frustrating being a fan with just the one box when the other side is getting stuff…
Are you saying Xbox hasn’t had any good games/exclusives this generation? They have, and with Game Pass you haven’t had to spend $1000 to play them all.
It reads as the culmination of his sources said as well as some others about “multiple hardware in work.” Pentiment sounds like it should have been said in a long time yet never did for whatever reason. Anyway, Thursday is the day Xbox crew will have to explain the vision thoroughly, true or false. The main hurdle based on reactions here and even the article is the console holder.
I dont think I have the energy to get up in arms about pentiment getting ported…Sawyer wanted it to go to Switch anyway.
Quicker and easier to port the small games first. I think eventually everything will go but as a game pass member I’m very happy with the console.
Maybe some of the rumors will turn out to be true, but Spencer wasn’t gonna deny one rumor or a few and confirm the others. They never do that. He’s jumping to conclusions.
For sure, I would compare showcases in a direct fashion if I wanted to measure them up but I’m just saying it’s in interesting contrast in regards to what’s happening on Thursday.
Really though, it’s just an added update to the regularly scheduled Xbox podcast programming.
It’s a level of access and transparency that you don’t see anywhere else.
Your friends though are playing new exclusives but are missing out on all Xbox exclusives right now, according to leaks will only get a few small ones, and let’s be honest, they are missing out on the biggest exclusive of al: Gamepass.
Honestly I laugh at my friends who spend 80-160$ per month on new games will I spend that much (even less actually) per year and end up playing a lot more games than them and put everything else in my savings account.
If they say they are not missing out on anything, honestly either they never liked Xbox, or are purely lying to defend their point. There is no way they look at Grounded, Starfield, Halo Infinite, Forza Horizon 5 and feel like they are not missing out.
The Verge article at the end :
If you can play Xbox games anywhere — including PC, the cloud, the Nintendo Switch, and the PS5 — then why would you want an Xbox? That’s the big question that Microsoft needs to answer on Thursday.
That answer for me personally I quite simple, day and date releases on Game Pass for those games. So instead of shelling out the full sum of money on PS5, you get them in Game Pass. That is assuming they don’t make any drastic changes to Game Pass, if they have any sense, they won’t.
After reading that article I have a feeling it won’t be anything too shocking Thursday. Even though I will not like seeing Starfield and Indiana Jones go multiplatform, and if those go, the question will always remain how many more in the (near) future.
It’s impossible for them to say or know what consequences a strategy like this could have on their Xbox hardware. Also the article says employees were indeed told hardware is staying, but nothing about games yet, so even they are still in the dark.
Agreed, the “small games” approach if confirmed is best case scenario.
If big games are mentioned or may go over too, then it’s more trouble as every game will be “is this going elsewhere too?”.
Yes but I’m now of the age where I’ve more money for gaming than time (the opposite of my teenage years) - and while I love Game Pass as I can try loads of games without risk, I will buy games I love to keep them, and still buy other games.
My favourite games this generation have been Hogwarts Legacy, Forza Horizon 5, HiFi Rush, Pentiment, Unpacking, Powerwash Simulator and Escape Academy.
Of those, one I’d have got a better version on PS5 (Hogwarts), three are multi-plat but I’ll admit Game Pass introduced me to them, two I could eventually have played on a PS5 and only one is likely to remain Xbox exclusive.
My partner (who’s PS5 only) has a list of God of War Ragnarok, Returnal, Final Fantasy 16, Helldivers 2, Demon Souls, Hogwarts Legacy and Horizon Forbidden West - and is soon getting FF7 Rebirth.
We’ve both enjoyed other third-party games, but I can’t help but compare the general quality - and it’s just annoying they’ll be helping PlayStation get even more games when we won’t get anything back in return
Can’t see it happening.
If Tom is correct that these titles are due to Game Pass “slowing” …then porting a couple of budget games and a 6 + year old Xbox One game isn’t going to muster up much $$$ to offset (or it doesn’t have much to offset if it does)
Were it not for game pass itself, SoT would have been on games with gold a few years ago. It’s arguably less damaging then making Minecraft Legends multiplatform from day 1.
And when GP does eventually hit 100m? Guess they’ll stop porting things.
It’s hard to see these things driven by money and damage the brand (however minute) then just increase CoD MTX by 25 cents
Ok but there’s still a ton of games that have come to Xbox and not PS5, especially around launch as timed Game Pass exclusives. You’re listing PS5 games that you could play if your partner owns them anyways? Both systems have pros, both systems have cons, and someone with more money than time can own both.
Thanks. I dont listen to podcasts. I never realised podcasts could be in video form, I half expected a different name if that ever came in. As another poster said, Booty Phil and Sarah havent explained their roles since the promotions so a discussion would make sense. Id prefer it not hitched to the doom rumours.
Tom mentions Starfield and Indiana Jones too, if that happens then the whole small games stuff goes right out of the window. Hopefully they can make clear what will fall under “under consideration” because it can get tricky and unclear and annoying.
Exactly, not a damn thing. And I really don’t think anything will change regarding that. We certainly won’t hear anything about that Thursday. Therefore I really don’t think we as Xbox players will have anything new or great to look forward to. At best it won’t sound as terrible as some of the rumors last week did.
We don’t live together and generally game at the same times, and I’ve tried suggesting we swap consoles for a bit sometimes to play each other’s games - did not go well lol.
Yep I suspect I’m going that way again, although I’ll probably wait for a PS5 Pro - just frustrated as I really wanted to support Xbox’s approach this generation rather than reward Sony’s money hatting, but I guess I’m bad with FOMO lol.
It just makes me a little sad as I honestly thought the Series consoles had a chance of overturning Sony this generation, which I realise now was a very unlikely event
I, for one, am excited for the future of Xbox. More sales means more games, for us, on Game Pass, I hope.
Time to put a ring on it, so that you can get their PS5
