I doubt it pretty much, technology is advancing. Right now you have TVs beginning to implement game streaming, it’s only a matter of time before they start playing games nartively eliminating the use of consoles. Also console sold does not equal the users. Many hardcre gmers buy multiple consoles, many here will tell you they have 2, 3 maybe even more PS5s or series X/S consoles. Those console numbers don’t translate to users that engage and spend. Then you also have the reports that Sony has slashed their production from a million to 500,000 with a 17% drop in Uk and similar in the US. Consoles are just not growing especially in a market that has imitators and then there is Apple with their M chips already able to play current gen at low fidelity. What happens when they incorporate a better chip in the Apple TV. We all know how crazy Apple fandom their Apple Arcade is even way over 100 million subs.
I certainly think consoles are important as a foundation, but I think the wise thing is to use it to expand as much as possible.
I’m pretty happy with FM, was kinda buggy early in (PC) but the racing feels great and they’ve been adding on content at a decent clip IMO. It’s not a game I play regularly though, hop on occasionally for a few races.
I’m still confused as to why they can’t just let Activision and Blizzard’s games remain multiplatform and call it a day? Also the fact that as others have brought up Sony still aggressively seeks to keep games off of Xbox, it just makes the platform worse. Why get an xbox and miss out on games when you can buy a PS5 or PC and not miss out in this theoretical landscape where MS is putting their games on PS5. At least with ABK these games were always multiplatform. COD alone would make them far more money on launch week that SOT and HFR would in a lifetime. So is it really worth destroying consumer confidence for that?
That’s the biggest thing for me, less console’s sold leading to less third party support and I’m not talking big AAA’s that we know won’t skip, it’s everything else. They were saying KI going multiplatform would be a good idea. If every fighter should be multiplatform to be successful why did it take so long for Guilty Gear to finally come back to Xbox. Why isn’t DNF Duel on Xbox? Why can’t we get the re releases of Games like KOF 13 or P4 Arena Ultimax? ( yeah I’m still sore about that one )
Maybe if MS made more of an effort to get less games to skip the console , people might not be so resistant to the idea of games going elsewhere. Not everything is about “console wars” sometimes consumers don’t want to feel like they’re getting a lesser product.
ABK games stay multiplat, Bethesda games should get at least 1 year exclusivity, and XGS games stay exclusive. But all should be Day 1 Gamepass. Would make Xbox relavant imo and maximize profits.
Jez reported that Microsoft shut down departments dedicated to bringing Xbox games to physical retail.
The report that Walmart was purging Starfield physical discs.
Similar reports out of Europe with some retailers regarding Xbox physical games.
Xbox players are already mostly digital and they have the metrics to prove it.
Announcing they’re going all digital would qualify as a paradigm shift with the way they conduct their business as opposed to their competitors. Could this be part of what they’re going to talk about?
Potentially (although I think part of that was exaggerated, right?). You have to hope they have some exciting things to say there too, otherwise it’d be a bit awkward if its a bunch of “Here’s a papercut announcement”, followed by another.
I especially don’t want to see Starfield happening because I really rather not see BGS wasting time on PS platforms, even if this version is probably quite far along. If they were to decide to develop TES VI for PS5/6 too, it would only make the wait longer. No please.
Oh I get you. Yeah, Microsoft Store app is horrible and needs work.
I don’t get you on the console ceiling at all. How many more consoles do you need than 200 million? Not everyone in the world wants to play big-budget AAA games that take 60 hours to finish It’s not like we’re seeing massive growth in the PC sector if you look at Windows profits. It’s getting to the point where everyone who wants a PC has one the same for Smart Phones
200 million users is more than enough the issue is most of them are SONY sadly. Unless Xbox looks to address its pitiful PR it’s not going to begin to fix issues
Just look at Starfield you could have had a week-long NASA style advertising countdown to build up hype and excitement and let the world know the game is coming. Instead, we got nothing
And on the day XBox’s name is in the gutter. Sarah Bond says nothing and thinks it’s a good time for her to tweet a pic of her freebie game off SEGA.
I do not know what will happen next week, but any port news or breach of exclusivity will be trumpeted and exaggerated to death by the Sony mediasphere as the death of Xbox. What you have seen this week is just a taste of what’s to come. I hope Spencer knows what he will get in return.
As for X1, i would know how much the mid-gen refresh sold, since I bet it sold to X1 owners increasing the total units without increasing the userbase.
