The Great Game Robbery
I think it will be forgotten about in two months, probably less.
I’m just happy it’s not as bad as everyone thought. Man I thought Xbox was fucking done. Im still gonna wait for this business meeting before I buy this SSD expansion card tho lol.
It’s honestly crazy tho how bad it got and all because of some dumbass insiders engagement farming
so is xbox era backing off on the rumor about starfield comming to ps5 or do they still stand by that
No, not even a little. We stand by our report, and you can see that Nate has completely backed down and made clear that he was only talking about himself.
Planning is a part of considering. How do you truly consider something like this without planning how you would do it?
Still, I have no clue as I’m no insider. I trust Jon, he worked on this for a while and got backed up by multiple other people with similar info.
Thanks for confirming that Jesse
Question is how you move forward in this type of climate. Consoles seem to be dropping off, people I ask about sales Here in the U.S talk about PS5s being returned for PS4s. Even the big publishers like Take 2 aren't doing so well. We're going to see a year of drops in console sales in the UK this year, mainly because last year was so big (due to PS5 finally being in stock). In January, Xbox Series S and X sales were down 7%, PS5 sales were down 17% while Nintendo Switch sales were down 31% year-on-year

For decades gaming has had a seemingly endless growth runway by acquiring new players and more share of time.
That's not the case anymore. We are hitting ceilings on % of people playing and average time spent playing. https://t.co/mddUa04RfM
I have a feeling something new is about to come out and eat everyone's lunch. The time of change is at hand. The story of the 2024 video game market seems more and more to be 'just make it to 2025'.

Thats why I would hope to see MS/Xbox talk about more thing than just games in this “business update”
As much as PS5 console sold well, the software isn’t really translating well with it. Sony’s earning call is coming, so they will have to inform investors the goal for this year.
Consoles are hitting their ceiling. Transformative games are coming from indies and not the Triple A devs, cost are out of control and the new generation tends to stick more to PCs. Tablets and Mobile as well as FTP games. Also FTP games are now becoming platforms further eroding the need for a console. I fear the console market might be overstaying it’s tenure. What I’d prefer for Microsoft to do is unify their PC and mobile platform with Xbox all as one. That way all my library becomes available on all 3 platforms and can be played on them similar to the Steam Deck idea. All the devices simply become extensions. That 500 dollar price is a gate that limits people. If they can eradicate it Game Pass would blow up.
For that to work for me, they’d need to figure out a way to make everything already released on Xbox playable natively on Windows. If MS can figure out a way to make our library follow us on the PC side, I’ll be honest here, I’d drop all consoles and go mini PC in the living room and Lenovo Legion Go for traveling. I just don’t know how possible it would be for Xbox to create some sort of emulator on PC that can run the old Xbox generations. That would be awesome for consumer goodwill and trust in the long term.
For sure they could have it all happen in the cloud, it’s just not as convenient or as nice for power users so both solutions need to be supported. There needs, however, a full unification in my opinion for all of it to work.
Or you know, just buy Steam!
I’d think it’d be fairly easy to accomplish for Xbox One and Xbox Series tbh. They already run PC internals with some customization, they run in a virtualiztaion layer, and run on an OS based on Windows.
Someone said Grubb was the one who speculated that MS was going to have the event at the end of February but thats incorrect, It was The Verge who mentioned the event:
We’re told Microsoft was originally planning this business update for later this month, alongside an announcement of Hi-Fi Rush for PS5 and Nintendo Switch. After speculation around Hi-Fi Rush , Starfield , and other Xbox games coming to PS5 intensified over the weekend, Microsoft has responded with an announcement of a “business update event” for next week.
They both did
Why not have family friendly or smaller budget games on Xbox, pc and switch(or its successor) and gaas games on Xbox pc and PlayStation. Big exclusives stay xbox/pc exclusives.
If youre one of those idiots(not you just in general) who sold their xbox immediately got no sympathy for you
I’ve always been in the camp of Multiplayer games releasing everywhere (and doing the impossible to have switch/switch 2 ports) releasing old GAAS everywhere too (SOT, state of decay 2, grounded…etc) and after some time the 3rd party exclusive games (depending of the game of course) like tell me why, Pentiment…etc.
Oh.
It might be controversial and I doubt that’s the intent but this whole drama did one thing for certain: unveil and eliminate the faithless/weak and expose the actual color. It’s like saying you hate your kids since end of the world is coming only it was a hoax. The worst can bring the truth of a man.
After the event, Xbox seriously need to distant itself from the toxic public fanboys. Guys like timdog need to
I saw on reddit about an xbox town hall meeting to assure internally that xbox hardware isn’t going anywhere.
## Will Xbox exclusives migrate to the PS5?
Amid rumors swirling about Xbox exclusive Starfield making its way over to the PlayStation 5, Xbox chief Phil Spencer posted on Monday, “We’re listening and we hear you. We’ve been planning a business update event for next week, where we look forward to sharing more details with you about our vision for the future of Xbox. Stay tuned.”
The company held an internal Tuesday townhall where Spencer told employees that there were no plans to stop making consoles, and that Xboxes would continue to be part of a strategy that involves multiple kinds of devices. Xbox did not immediately return a request for comment
Whatever happens next week, they’ve handled all this about as badly as possible. I get Microsoft has always been poor with communication for multiple reasons, they’re predominantly an enterprise company with only xbox, surface and windows/office being for consumers while at the same time being either the largest or second largest companies on the planet so there’s a lot more care taken on what they say for legal reasons. Still they’ve known this for a long time and should have a better feel for this sort of thing blowing up and preventing it.
I can’t see what they are going to say next week, if as the current rumors are true that it’s just SOT and hifi rush how do you reassure users what will and won’t be releasing on other platforms down the road. I’m sure they will confirm hardware won’t go away, along with day and date with gamepass and if that will include ABK. But with what they told regulators and bringing a couple of games to other platforms I doubt they can be all that clear for the future which isn’t going to help. At one stage I though cancel hifi rush and just say GaaS but even that won’t work because it would arguably include halo, gears and forza which would go down like a turd in the punch bowl. I wouldn’t want to be the one trying to put this presentation together.
