Hope it’s not a monkey’s paw where it cost something else just to appease people who value playing keep away from PlayStation.
I don’t understand why they can’t just do Xbox game studios exclusive, Bethesda case by case basis. Activision multiplat. How do you not make money in that scenario. Honestly they would be fine with just Activision multiplat but they want roi asap and are willing to kill the Xbox brand in the process
They probably will do that
Stop jumping the gun and assuming the worst.
Yes they are having a business meeting to discuss the “future of Xbox” just to say:
“We’re not changing anything.”
What if XGS made a flop, Bethesda made a moderately successful 20 million player game and what if ABK made a 50 million console seller?
Would Xbox fans really want the exclusive flop and the Omega level game going to Playstation? I wouldnt.
Also…because regulators will 100% look at Microsofts history of acquired exclusives when considering their next major acquisition.
Its best to be opaque and keep them guessing.
Maybe the real exclusive was the friends we made along the way
Yup. Some big changes are gonna get announced, I don’t doubt it. That’s why this can’t possibly be a repeat of things Spencer has said before, such as case by case. It needs to be a lot more, and I’m sure it will be.
I wouldn’t mind a more normal Starfield discourse tbh. If I’m finally able to admit I like it openly, I would be fine with that decision. Just me.
I’ve browsed off and on a little bit on ResetEra and since a lot of this has started with Nate the Hate, I thought I’d summarize a few remarks/rumors he’s thrown out there over the last couple hours, in case it quells any of your fears about the other rumors going on:
- Xbox is staying in hardware and it will compete with the PS6
- He thinks the info about Starfield going multiplat may have been bad info and it is currently a “wait and see” situation.
- It was never going to be everything being ported and Xbox will stay have exclusives
- I may have been reading it wrong, but it seems like the list he has been made aware of includes Hi-Fi Rush, Sea of Thieves, consideration for Starfield/Gears/Indiana Jones. and two others that are getting ported and are not under consideration (he doesn’t expand on what those two are and he hasn’t seen articles about it).
Additionally, Tom Warren had this to say:
I just wanna make it very clear that most folks in Xbox don’t know the full details of what Microsoft will discuss next week. So people that are backtracking on certain stuff never really knew either.
Personally, it doesn’t really change my stance as I think if the games getting ported over are going to be a “case-by-case basis,” there’s going to be big question marks over every release as to if/how long game X will be exclusive; once the flood gates are opened, you can’t really shut them. I also think a lot of damage has been done, if nothing else but in the mindset of users.
We’ll wait and see what Xbox/Microsoft say next week.
I mean, at the end of the day it IS probably still going to come down to being a case by case basis. I don’t think there is going to be some hard rule they follow. What we might get is some perspective on the scale of their multiplatform plans.
Been playing myself. Loving it so far.
The issue is I’m not sure the money guys and/or Nadella would be happy with this business model.
They will have some kind of plan but ultimately I just feel it’s gonna boil down to this
(old Xbox One meme for those who don’t get it)
I get the concern if you are a console only player and has all your games and everything on only one place to play. I also see crazy fanboys on both side saying some of the most dumb ass stuff imaginable. Like how if a game that i enjoy go to another platform suddenly that game is now shit lol. This dumb mentality is mostly associated with PlayStation fanboys but now that this rumors is on-going, i also see many Xbox people saying some dumb crap. Gaming is a hobby, a children hobby if we are being honest. It really not that serious. As long as Xbox still make hardware for the people that only has a Xbox? Them putting all their games on as many platforms as they want really does not matter. Remember, its the games and not the plastic box that you play it on is what matters. Games.
I definitely think starting to port things will eventually lead to porting everything over, but who knows how far down the road that’ll be. Either way, at this point, we might as well wait and hear what they say next week. Whether or not anyone believe them is up to each of us.
“Business update” sounds like an awful, clinical HR meeting in early November where they tell employees that the party’s over and that they will have no bonus this year.
They should just be careful because as soon as Sony last gen saw what the issue was with gamers, they immediately made a video sealing Xbox one’s fate last gen. Making a PS5 pro with a marketing of the best place to play all games would be wild.
I’m sure their just waiting until the announcement then we’ll be seeing gifs on the playstation Twitter account with the ps logo photoshopped on Mike Tyson knocking out someone with the Xbox logo. Fade to black then the console war is over or some dumb shit.
The old playstation would do that idk how much they feed into the console war shit these days
I remember when they announce all Xbox games will release on PC, Some people was mad to. Saying they will sell their Xbox and cancel buying games lol. Phil even reply to one of them. After awhile it all cool down and was over and done with,

History seem to be repeating itself now with PlayStation and Switch. After a while it too will cool down and be over and done with.
"People are making wild assumptions that EVERY game is going multiplat – which is not the case.
Nor is MS going to exit the hardware industry.
The multiplat strategy is a slight shift in strategy, in which SOME titles go multiplat. MS will keep high profile games exclusive."
