There’s just no mind pretzeling to “everything will be fine.” They’re porting Starfield to PS5. They’re letting outlets just run with “Xbox is done”.
Jez seems like he’d think a handheld announcement will save everything.

The comments section on pretty much any social media platform is like a mental asylum. I try to avoid reading them wherever possible.
I’m just going with nobody knows shit
It’s clear there been some big change in strategy otherwise they wouldn’t be holding an event like this to begin with but this flip flopping from people I can’t take serious whether it’s good news or bad
Was it Jez who claimed multiplatform was a pipe dream in December and last month he said he knew of rumours in November. I dont trust Jez fully but prefer to put faith in Colt, Tom Warren, Ryan Mc and Destin.
Never trust Jez.
I believe Jez said the multi platform rumours were “hard copium from fanboys”.
Jez has went from never happening, to ok maybe some gams, to yes definitely some games, to meltdown, to not as bad as expected
When the first Xbox game gets ported, someone should do a Backdraft meme of the climactic “You go, we go” scene with the faces being the logo for the ported Xbox game and that popular Xbox-Bethesda-merger graphic with all of the studios. Then you have “xbox community” yelling noooo as they fall into the fire. Maybe also label the fire as PS and Nintendo.
That bad huh? Guess I should have realised this way sooner.
This is dismissive of all the things he got right before. Jez is just all over the place sometimes, doesn’t mean he was never to be trusted.
You just need to be careful with the info you take as fact from Jez, particularly on twitter. He tends to get emotional so i personally wait a while if he is reacting a lot to something till he calms down and thats usually closer to what is actually happening.
Sadly reminds me of what happened to Pro Evolution Soccer. Was in second place behind Fifa for many years, but had a fiercely loyal console/pc fanbase. One year they just announced “we’re going after the mobile market” and the fans went ballistic. Konami stuck to their plan, told the fans to deal with it, and now the mobile game does record numbers. Konami happy, new mobile fans happy, original loyal fans left in the past. Feels very similar.
His track record IMO is 15% accurate and 85% wrong and largely outweighed by the strength of what was correct. Getting scoops on Ara History untold, Pentiment and South of Midnight are a far cry from “Project Odyssey is almost finished” and “Indiana Jones isn’t Xbox exclusive”, which are massive misses.
True. He has said good, legit stuff too but now and then has tweets that make you say “BREH” as well. I would hope that he could just be a bit more serious at times like these.
Colt?
Those latter ones were opinions though, not actual articles
Most things he actually writes about tend to be correct because he has legit sources usually, odyssey and IJ were based on nothing but his own feelings
Regardless, I don’t think anyone should be trusting anyone right now, everything might be in flux until this event happens
Better to assume on this, he knows absolutely nothing, then he was secretly advised of a brighter outlook.
He’s doing it to farm for engagement. He even said he only writes an article when he’s 100% sure his information is waterproof.
I would always look if they have a blue mark. Because when they have it you know they will farm for attention.
Iirc I think Jez only does an article when he gets documents. Yeah, the leaks he really believes in go into articles.
It’s possible that he does. He is an insider that doesn’t really say anything but knows it. It’s also possible that he has a direct tie with Xbox team. That all said it could be either he knows what will happen or has been assured that nothing drastic (like Gears going PS for example) will happen. It’s hard to say. I wouldn’t be surprised if Xbox team is now talking to personal/insider to understand their vision behind closed doors.
What I want to know is why a week. Series S got outed and then they just announce it. This feels like a ploy to understand what really needs to be done. That or use it against the Board like why the idea they’re going would be bad. I heard there were internal struggle based on what this site reported. Hell, I start to feel that is what happening in wrestling as well, like production was told to take shots in a subtle way. In fact, the story is similar to Xbox’s situation with creative vs. Board.
Let’s not forget Xbox Live price was raised and it backfired immediately, so they backtracked it. Why? By that I mean why they thought of it in the first place, knowing the reactions would be like that. One would argue the insider was purposely leaking the story about multiplatform to raise our voices of concern. I don’t know, but this has to be one of the most active moment in gaming history.
This is where I’m kind of at with it as well. Not worth keeping track of as we’ll know for sure soon enough and the regular talking heads will be like “Told you so!” afterwards anyways.
I will say after going to the Starfield games showcase in a movie theater, filled with so many promises of a strong console future, seeing Xbox apparently pivoting away from that sucks. I probably won’t attend things like that in the future as I will be jaded by this whole scenario to be real.
