The Big ol' Xbox 3rd Party Releases Discussion Thread (HiFi, SoT, Pentiment, Grounded) (Part 1)

People selling right now are basically the same people who invest in the stock market and sell after a week because they’ve lost 5% of their investment.

I have been a loyal Xbox fan since the original Xbox.

When you think Xbox came out in 1999, 2000 or 2001 I can’t remember the date I have spent several thousand dollars, maybe even ten thousand over the last twenty plus years on games and video consoles, so to end up with Microsoft giving me, you, everyone that supported Xbox the middle finger, plus a slap across the face is infuriating.

I have for years seen how much hate PlayStation gamers have to Xbox gamers. You couldn’t go a day without articles calling Xbox garbage and players saying all Xbox has is Halo, Gear and Forza. For a time Fable was part of that list and now Fable is returning, which is awesome, yet this has to happen.

I have seen it where you would see article, after article that games would finally come back to Xbox after the failure of Xbox One and guess what they did.

Last year was a great year for Xbox Series and it was better to have that over a PS5. This year looked like it would even be better this year than last year, yet now this news changes things for the worse.

PS5 owners will get most likely Starfield with the DLC being added into the game for free, while we Xbox Series owners have to pay to play it.

So we become the beta testers and they get an enhanced version.

I haven’t seen this much positivity for Xbox in years and why do I say that because you now see people saying Xbox doesn’t have fun games, when in the past they said Xbox has no games.

You know people want to play these games, they just can’t admit it.

So, if Microsoft goes through with this plan, they will make PlayStation gamers happy, because they get to play more than just Spider-Man or remakes and people like me who in truth would like to play Spider-Man, can’t.

This will Kill Xbox as a brand, because you will know in two or three years Xbox games will be on PlayStation with all the extra goodies thrown and possibly cheaper too.

I don’t like it, but in truth I could see niche Japanese games like Hi-Fi Rush or online games like Sea of Thieves make the jump to PlayStation, yet it never should have been that or worse everything.

I can’t believe no one at Microsoft thought how this would kill the excitement for Xbox, when this year, in 24 everything is in Xbox Series favor, you have no big PlayStation games and yet you decide to give PlayStation, Xbox exclusive games.

It just makes no sense and is sad to see.

This also means you will never see Xbox games pushing the system to the max, because it has to work on PlayStation too.

Plus, with now having to port Xbox games to PlayStation development time will increase and so having to wait to play those games is another awful bonus too.

So, I just hope some big wigs see the mess they made, not go this route and make known Xbox games, won’t be coming to PlayStation.

If there’s no real competition from Xbox, the PlayStation 6 is gonna make the PlayStation 3’s launch look downright charitable. Sony is going to own high-end gaming consoles in the same way Nintendo basically owns the family/handheld console market which allows them to do a ton of wacky stuff like not dropping their game prices years after they’ve been out.

Imagine if you’re Sony trying to build a successful GAAS for the day when CoD leaves your platform … like Concord and Microsoft releases Starfield on PS5 same day.

I can’t grasp the concept of people selling their Xbox Series consoles. Who’s going to buy it if everyone’s apparently selling their consoles as well since nobody wants it? How does it work?

I dont think Microsoft sees consoles as surviving beyond 10 years. The PS5 pro will be $600… which means next gen consoles could be$700! And the prices wont drop. Thats not going to be a big market.

My only hope is that Microsoft continues acquisitions and Xcloud until the day comes where we’re looking at $700 Playstations and Xbox has set up shop as the netflix of gaming with Call of Duty and GTA on every phone only on their store.

I forgot to add another thing this would lead to less competition, which isn’t good for anyone, be it Xbox or PlayStation gamers.

Just imagine if Sony sees Microsoft not making a new Xbox console, they could do as minimum as possible for the next system yet charge an arm and a leg. Then game prices could increase and honestly 70 dollars is already crazy expensive, when I remember paying 30 or 40 for Xbox games.

Just look at what Apple does with their phones and think what Sony could do with PlayStation without Microsoft and Xbox.

Apple may have competition from Android, but if they didn’t, it would be worse and no gamer, even PlayStation only gamers should hope to see Xbox leave the video game console business.

So, if any Microsoft executive sees my post, please don’t give up on Xbox and continue to keep Xbox games exclusive.

I think this is a good point. If Xbox is considering Gears of War as some would suggest, that likely means nothing is off the table and they are considering pretty much all their first party content. But “considering” doesn’t mean they’ll decide to do so, and considering all their titles doesn’t give any indication as to how many they’d actually release. I consider lots of dinner options, doesn’t mean I have more than one dinner. I think it’s safe to say some first party content is going multiplatform - but at this stage we have truly no indication just how much content will launch on other platforms.

As a bonus tiny bit of speculation - it’d be silly to launch Gears on other consoles without starting with the originals, so if they are considering gears that does make me think there is likely a handy dandy gears collection in the works as Nick says.

IMO…if Starfields on the table, it all is.

Remember, Sony’s financial report is coming out next week. It’s going to be a very interesting couple of weeks for BOTH Xbox and Playstation fans. I don’t think PS will pivot as hard as Xbox but it will not be business as usual for them.

why can’t PC/Steam be the competitor against PlayStation in the event Xbox does, hypothetically, leave the console space

It can but it doesn’t compete anywhere near as closely to PS as Xbox does, there’s still a very large audience out there for consoles, casuals aren’t picking up a PC over seeing a PS5 with Spiderman or whatever else on the cover

It only works if MS buys Steam, as Lord Gaben is a peaceful man and he doesn’t like competition. I think MS should make him an offer he can’t refuse, so the tables would be turned and Sony would now be publishing on a MS platform.

Depends on where you live maybe. I could prob offload mine for a good price easy because most people here are “disconnected” so they wouldn’t even know. Someone would buy it as a CoD box or something.

Doesn’t Steam have over 100 million users on steam ? I’m not sure I’m understanding the logic on this

“Think of the horrors of Sony monopolizing the industry!! …well, anyway, I’m gonna sell my Xbox and buy a PlayStation “

(Not directed at anyone specifically, just find the idea generally humorous)

Maybe they will reveal the controller with hapticks?

That’s what I think too. PC gaming was niche as fuck when Sony got crazy with the PS3 but I think it would easily eat Sony’s lunch now if they tried a $999 console with a $99 online sub or something. Same with Switch 2 even if it really does get most AAA releases.
