The Big ol' Xbox 3rd Party Releases Discussion Thread (HiFi, SoT, Pentiment, Grounded) (Part 1)

They’re just busy coming up with a way to spin it to quell the panic. The funny part being there is no way to spin this, beyond just flat out saying it ain’t happening.

Most of the people in charge of thse social media posts have 0 interest in games and just doing a job in the most tone deaf blank way possible. I know because i know the sort of people corporations hire.

Or thats its happening for select few titles that involve their 80 billion dollar acquisitons.

Dont be throwing gears on playstation. What has sony don to deserve this? Oh wait yes moneyhat more games from you.

Thats the only concern i have. Dont give a shit about bethesda games. But core xbox games have brand recognition tou cant just throw onto a console and company that will never put games on your console

3rd party games like ff16 doesnt count

Lets see sony put spiderman on xbox. Will never happen

Good post.

For me the most troubling aspect of the industry over the past decade is the nagging feeling bean counters i.e. accountants have taken over everything. GAAS & its predominance was just a symptom of that.

Don’t get me wrong, i.e. people in this industry have always chased money, but not like we’re seeing now. There’s this sense that everyone working under the umbrella of a major corporation (Microsoft, Sony, Tencent, EA, Ubisoft, Embracer etc.) literally works with a gun pointed at their head at all times with insane profit objectives.

I mean come on now, i.e. this is the entertainment industry. There’s always going to be creative risk with every venture. Treating it like selling household appliances, computer operating systems or anything aimed at mass consumption with predictable growth expectations is asinine IMO.

Indiana Jones for example isn’t Windows. It could be great, or it could falter. That’s the nature of creative work. It could also be great but not find an audience (like Alan Wake 2 recently). That’s also an inherent risk.

The point I’m making here is I don’t like the impression that MS now sees Xbox as a division with extremely ambitious profit objectives to meet ‘or else’ they radically shift policy. Which is IMO what we’re seeing. If that’s its fate, then Xbox as a gaming division would have been better off just being left on the periphery of Microsoft.

For me as a gamer with the gamepad in my hand, I don’t like the feeling someone is watching me & wanting me to spend more. It’s a bit off-putting.

Yep, like I said and even with a u-turn, they won’t cancel this bad feeling around the platform for a long time, people are wary now, after 22 years I had my first Xbox, I feel lost, they consistently stumbled, mislead and change directions in cycle since after Peter Moore left.

I swear MS/Xbox are absolute masters at killing their own momentum. They had so much fanfare coming out of an excellent generation( barring RROD) with the 360 only to kill their momentum with the XB1. It’s funny because it happened similarly with rumors of Xbox going with weaker hardware. Xbox fans were in denial of it , myself included. " Microsoft would never do that after the 360 trounced the PS3 on third party games, that would make no sense" only for them to do exactly that along with TV,TV DRM shit.

Now this year. Coming off a successful Developer Direct after having arguably a great year for games last year, people feeling great about Xbox’s future. Looking forward to the summer games fest, only for this “lol we’re putting our games everywhere now!” bullshit to suddenly manifest. I was sure it was FUD due to the timing, no MS is just that fucking tone def. Should have known.

If it were only that , sure. Though I don’t even see a need for Bethesda games going anywhere. The regulators never questioned them about that purchase , they were just fine making everything exclusive. Hell why not just keep everything that Activision and Blizzard make multiplatform and treat them like Minecraft ( I thought that was the play tbh) and let them continue to print money.

At this point I’ve just accepted it, it’s a shame to see it go this way but it is what it is

I’ll cope by trying to enjoy the inevitable drama and chaos lol

Let’s say for the sake of argument that this is real, who wants to bet he will probably come out with some generic pr corpo speech?

Wouldn’t trust anyone with that name lol.

In disbelief that Spencer and Bond are prepared to let this spiral into a new week.

If the rumours are indeed true, I think they would want to craft a very thorough explanation rather than just send out a generic press release.

Yeah, all discussions about any Xbox/Bethesda/Activision game will be about this until they address it. No point in marketing when all the comments and discussion about your productive is negative

Sarah tweeted a short while ago about Persona unboxing, you’d think they wouldn’t tweet at all at the moment given the replies they are getting. Unless it’s scheduled of course.

Don’t know if the tweet is real or not, but I think Xboxera planned to release the Starfield Playstation article on Monday but because of some reasons they dropped it yesterday. Was listening to the live show yesterday but too tired to listen closely.

So it could be the reason why the released it one day earlier than planned.

The strategy he addressed months ago was gamepass not going to PlayStation… that doesn’t adress the rumours at hand.

If its on CNBC rather than a direct statement to consumers, you can expect corporate puff piece.

It doesn’t look real but let’s wait and see :joy:

Even if this is true, it doesn’t matter. The headline make it looks like it will be more of the same corporate speech that has carefully constructed phrases that have 10 different meaning so they can mean anything. They won’t cut the bs.

Great post and covers my main point of concern at these rumours. The biggest draw of the Xbox eco-system for me is the variety, in terms of genres and scope that they’ve been able to provide. Discovering some awesome indie title I’d never have played (Unpacking, Powerwash Simulator, etc.) via Game Pass.

If we see a lot less of that, due to the bean counters being more risk-averse and only backing sure things, that’d be the biggest loss for me.

Hey MS, if you’re really going to do this can you do me a solid and port over Gears Tactics as well? Thx.
