Exactly. While I’m mostly on console myself, some people are waaaay too attached to their “exclusive” plastic boxes. What are we missing out on when games go multi-platform? More money for Xbox to develop more games and keep Game Pass prices low?
No, we’re missing out when third parties stop supporting the console when sales inevitably decrease.
The possibility that the “plastic box” doesn’t exist in the future as the console base collapses.
Doesnt really need to be explained.
If I were Sony, this Fall, I would launch the PS5 pro with all the “Xbox exclusives”. Remove the Xbox tax, add better graphics, and you have the best console launch in history, 10 10/10 games
It’s not about the games, it’s about the brand. Microsoft becomes Tencent. They no longer have any identity, they’re a company that buys studios like any other assets, sell them with a profit, or shut them down. That’s it.
The biggest lie they told was the vision through which they sold us Xbox Series, I would have jumped pc if I knew they were so duplicitous AND inept at selling the console, I thought they understood the market after X1 disaster, but they didn’t.
If you rewatch previous shows, now all their words about exclusives and ecosystem are full straight LIES, there is no way to sugarcoat the issue.
Like @raihous said, they also planned to LIE at our faces and drip feed the news to control the message. I’m happy the thing exploded in their hands, consumers deserve TRANSPARENCY, another thing among many Xbox has never had.
If this was always intentional, it would of been revealed during the ABK court case. It’s a very recent decision.
Xbox games will help cover PS lackluster 2024 with maybe 3 game launching this year?
PS is about to have FFrebirth (moneyhat mind you) and hifi rush and xbox
Condescending aren’t we?
We’re missing out on competition. What happened to “Let’s have competition” ? Let another lie from Microsoft
So true, the Irony of it LOL
It doesn’t make it right, it’s not like I changed my idea about something critical for my life and then all the things I did before become lies, it doesn’t make me better saying “I just change my idea, I’m not so bad”.
I guess I should have stayed out the ecosystem and not returning in 2018, outside FH, Ori, Gears 5 and few others, it’s not like they produced these masterpieces from 2018 to now, also they bought Bethesda and ABK, two sinking ships with policy and quality issues and it shows, lol.
People remained loyal because of promises and look at them spitting at fans faces, unforgivable.
I knew people defending them behind “they are making more money than ever” weren’t doing the right thing, they only provided them cover and divided fanbase even before this fallout.
You won’t be missing out on Xbox games that’s for sure but expect even more third parties to ignore Xbox even more than they already do as sales will get even worse inevitably.
When your major titles is indie scope games and pc ports of course your consoles won’t sell. I been stressing for years where is the gears halo etc caliber games, their competitors have released those scale games consistently
Yeah, their fisrt big game outside the trifecta was Starfield, this year was Indiana Jones (but non as big as those, lacking mp), their other studios were AA.
I think AAA industry is gonna crack pretty soon, so maybe it’s MS going away before being crippled by the ripple effect, but the intentional betrayal of fanbase is bad anyway.
Also the console won’t sell if outside NA you didn’t care, fans like me are saying since years and it’s ironic now the people who dismissed the issue because they lived in US now see the problem.
The ABK proceedings probably brought some forces to bear from other divisions within Microsoft that looked at the gaming division with a very critical eye. Someone obviously asked the question “why dont we sell games on the leading platforms?”
They’re fine smothering the hardware in the short/medium term for greater returns asap. Hardware is probably seen as a drag on profitability and putting the software on everything possible fits their MO as a company.
You dont drop $70bn and keep the status quo.
The thing is that once you lose your store, then it’s done, thier plan is worse than that: they thought they could maintain the store lying to us and controlling the messagging. Keeping Xbox hw and selling to others concurrently, they wanted it all. They won’t have neither, because their games won’t sell so much more in other places and those numbers will never compensate for destroying Xbox.
If they know that this is going to kill their console for good then fine but if they expect that they can have decent console sales while being multiplat they’ll probably get a rude awakening, wil also be interesting to see how much money they make without having a storefront, because their revenues currently include billions from game sales and subscriptions, without a console that money has to go down big.
I think people desperately wanted to downplay what Xbox wasn’t good at as minor concerns.
Xbox getting obliterated in sales outside of NA and also losing market share to Sony in NA ?
- “Actually here’s why that’s okay” as a response ain’t it and was never it. lol.
People defending a consumer brand doing bad using corporate points was never gonna cut it, videogames are still entertainment last time I checked. It’s sad because this corporative mentality spread within the fanbase, divided it and obfuscated the real problems until now. If all fanbase shouted about localisation, marketing, better messagging, etc I think things would have been better.
it’s his own bloody twitter he can post w/e he wants on there, stop being weird.
