The Big ol' Xbox 3rd Party Releases Discussion Thread (HiFi, SoT, Pentiment, Grounded) (Part 1)

So… why do you own an Xbox now? All games are already on PC.

The only thing that would change is that you’d have an extra option to play these titles. The most expensive option too. As it will be the only platform (presumably) that will have Microsoft published titles without a subscription service option.

It was all I could afford in terms of a powerful PC and PS5 and Xbox I didn’t have the cash.

Now I do. So at the start of next gen I can get a PS6 and a solid PC. Then for all the Xbox games I’ll get 1 months of game pass at the end of each year to play them all.

Xbox goes from getting all my Xbox expenses right now to £8 a year.

If they Xbox future is the value offer they may win some people but they’ve got the value offer now and they’ve haven’t improved console sales at all.

I want to be clear I don’t want this to happen but I’ve accepted and am ready to let go.

Does Game Pass not offer value to you? I know not everyone uses it, but just a serious question because it’s huge for me. Has completely changed the way I consume games and Xbox could be Game Pass only and I’d still buy.

Not everyone wants to game on a PC. It’s easier to use a console or the PC is more of a device for work and you want to seperat your work and private life.

It does but I’d just buy 1 months PC game pass a year for £8 to play all the Xbox titles. Compared to currently Xbox getting all my gaming expenses.

I mean, it’s impossible to buy a pc as good as a series X for nearly the same price. Even more so when lots of console gamers don’t have monitors, keyboards and mouses.

Also, lots of people love the simplicity of consoles. Playing games without having to worry about your specs is amazing. Just turning on your console and playing games, without having to worry about updating or drivers or anything like that.

But… isn’t this a win for you? Don’t understand why you wouldn’t want this, lol.

Personally Game Pass has completely changed Xbox for me. I don’t buy games super often anymore, unless they are in a crazy sale too good to ignore.

So as long as MS makes consoles not much will change for me. Except that I just don’t want to see Xbox going this route. And earlier today someone mentioned what Nick said in the podcast, what if the whole thing doesn’t work out, that he believes they will do away with hardware in a heartbeat. Well, I hope not.

But let’s go with the scenario that they do bring all games to other platforms, how can that not work out? Those platforms have huge install bases, surely people will buy those games? And I just really hope they will have other studios for these ports, don’t let the current studios work on them. And last but not least, third parties? Some have mentioned that Xbox might get less third party support. See, that would be very bad and potentially another good reason to hate these changes.

Whatever happens y’all, I’m proud of the Xbox fans of keeping the Xbox community alive as long as we could. The company who owns it might be full of sh*t, but the fanbase is amazing.

It’s going to be funny when it turns out to be nothing in then end.

Social media and all the rumours that spread around for no reason is really getting tiring. Why is everyone becoming a trusted source and leaking stuff out of nowhere and people are believing it, it’s driving me crazy to think about it.

And I don’t t know how people want Xbox executives to come out and comment every rumour that comes out as that’s all they’d be doing all day long. They say Xbox does all this harm to themselves, but in reality it’s the social media pandering and clickbait crap people do for views that is doing the most damage. MS is basically just trying to truck along and make Xbox the best place to play, and people keep pushing some false narratives to garner user engagement on their social media accounts and try to make a quick buck.

The new generation of online users are really stupid honestly, taking everything they see on YouTube or Twitter as gospel when most of it comes from basement dwellers that have no credibility.

At this point I wouldn’t even be surprised if those shirt textures in HiFi Rush were put in there to troll us to be honest.

Way too much smoke and it’s not like some fraud talked about those rumours. We know who’s reliable and they all said the same thing.

What if Xbox uses some of the additional income (and government approval from being multiplatform) to buy more third parties?

This week has made me feel the opposite, actually. Plenty of great people, but the loud fanbase has been nauseating and miserable. Led on by influencers who are the worst.

Why would you want this? How does it make any financial sense for MS?

Well there are crazy fanboys who don’t deserve the attention, but there are those who stuck through during its darkest times in the Xbox One era. They kept the community alive.

Their bet is that enough people stick around that their console business isn’t harmed that much, they get a lot more money from being multiplatform, and continue to grow Game Pass (and size) through that increased money.

I think they see a change coming in the industry and are positioning themselves for it. They just can’t leave behind what they have because there is so much money there and they also need to convert those new users.

Nate who’s been saying for like 3 years that a new Banjo Kazooie is in the works? How can he be trusted honestly. Everyone is just like “I’ve heard it’s been considered”, heard from whom? I always have a hard time believing some people know some stuff that would be only talked at the executive level and yet, none of the main Xbox leakers know anything or have seen anything.

It’s easy for Jez or Shinobi to just quote and be like “you’ll see, I heard the same”. If they know why would anyone wait for someone else to start the ball rolling when they could be the ones braking the news?

We had people see very early stuff from Avowed for example, but no one can be certain if there is someone working on SoT or Hi-fi ports? Something just doesn’t add up here.

Sure, Bethesda would add a literal brand perception bomb on their files just for the giggles. Xbox doesn’t even do April first jokes anymore, why the hell would they do this.

Sure, Nick, Jez, Warren, Henderson all have been wrong on the past, even tho their rumors have more of a chance of being true than false. But they’re all agreeing and all to adamant of it being true. Something is definitely happening.

Didn’t Grubb and Tom Warren talked about it as well ?

At least Tom Warren is mentioning it all the time on Twitter.
