The Big ol' Xbox 3rd Party Releases Discussion Thread (HiFi, SoT, Pentiment, Grounded) (Part 1)

As I see it, so many of the recent posts have nothing to do with the actual topic about Microsoft publishing games on other platforms. It’s become something else entirely.

Nah. Still not a good idea. Even multiplayer games are Xbox games. They and [fans] have worked hard to get to the point the brand is in now. Xbox has never been in such a strong position since its inception. And now that the brand is on the ascend, putting even multiplayer games to competing platforms sends the wrong message to the entire gaming community. Xbox fans wont be ba happy about it because they’ve trusted the vision for the brand for decades, and now that its here, their trust is being trampled on for a few more sales. The rest of the industry will basically destroy Microsoft for such weak messaging and essentially going third party because they couldn’t beat the market leader.

Microsoft hasn’t even given their own strategy a chance by continuing to release banger games every quarter, day and date on Gamepass. This [rise] of Xbox is just beginning and they should really see it through. All this mixed messaging and shit is doing the brand no favors, either. One game (not contracted) turns over to the competing platforms will do massive damage to Xbox as a whole. I honestly hate speaking on rumors but there is alot going on here. More than before, it seems.

What I’m hoping is that Microsoft is basically saying we dont respond to rumors and are just letting the brand speak for itself. if there’s anymore to this rumor stuff, things will turn ugly very quickly.

I still cannot find the supposed info from the Zenimax employee. Where is it in that podcast? I’ve skimmed through and I don’t find the quotes anywhere? Is there even a Zenimax employee on the podcast and do we have his/her name to verify any of the info?

Sarah Bond when she addresses the Xbox strategy, CFGamer dream edition:

  • Nextbox will release in 2026
  • Launches with blades 2.0 dashboard
  • Xbox Live Gold merged with Game Pass Core, exists alongside Ultimate still
  • Launches with a lineup of FH6, Gears 6, Everwild and COD 2026 day one on Gamepass
  • Year 1 rounded off with a 2027 fall lineup of Elder Scrolls 6, Perfect Dark and Halo 3 Anniversary
  • Oh and the return of 1 vs 100
  • Absolutely no mention of Sea of Thieves or HiFi Rush, and it’s just never mentioned ever again, leaving insiders in shambles.

I mean, tell me we’re not cooking right there?

“you guys will be fine…” wonder what is meant with that. But it will be good to just get it over with. SoT, HFR and more games it is then, probably older stuff but what other games? There is like Halo games, Gears, Forza Motorsport and Horizon which ALL are the face of Xbox.

And clarity on their strategy for yet to be released first party studios would be good too.

no matter what to me i’m ride or die xbox to the end just like those wii u users

Man I’m with Tim Dog on this one, either go all in or don’t, I wouldn’t hold it against Xbox if they just went all at this point, clearly some Microsoft higherups want this, so do it then and see how that works out, the idea of playing everything on one console doesn’t sound bad all, sucks that that console wouldn’t be an Xbox console though.

It would suck even more because without any competition Sony could screw people over anyway they want because where else are they going to go?

Maybe the leaker who wrote about MS announcing this late February was right, he was right with Kojima (even tho there was a movie confirmed other than the SoP thing) and Indiana Jones.

Since it’s pretty much confirmed, i hope they talk about how’s the development of the PS and Switch ports going to be, MS really needs to acquire a porting/support studio right now, the state of their games or some PC ports is already quite meh on release, also having first party studios having to waste time on ports of already released games would suck

It’s probably not even that dire. I just read that part about how we shouldn’t be so concerned as we are. But yeah whatever, it’s still second hand information, let’s wait and see I guess.

Yeah, this has been one my main worries since this whole shit started. Game development already takes so incredibly long, I mean in May we actually finally get to play Hellblade 2(dont mean to sound ungrateful at all) let alone a game like TES VI and so on. Wasn’t it Pete Hines that said Starfield development (obviously) would’ve have taken much longer if they had to take PS into account as well? We really don’t want the actual devs wasting precious time on versions for two wholly different platforms. Sigh.

And it may very well not turn out to be something that warrants worrying, but I hate even the possibility of it. Xbox is finally super strong with all these studios man, ffs. Give it an actual shot, you know?

But…i shall not jump to conclusions.

i know but people in the community here and the otherera thread take it so seriously that it hard to have meaningful discussion beside MS being dumb,Phil spencer lied over and over that i’ll buy the next xbox while the people say they will switch to ps6 or pc and im like ok bye then since people who have been with xbox for a while should know stuff before jumping in like we barely get japanese game and xbox on pc if they expected more thats on them

I doubt all games will come, and even if they did, it would take years assuming the ports are even financially viable. I have a hard time believing they port big Xbox franchises like Halo or Gears.

Multiplayer games like the aforementioned Sea of Thieves are a given. Grounded seems like another good candidate. Im sure Tango would love to see HiFi Rush on more popular platforms in the same way Moon and MDHR did.

I have to admit, this news doesn’t inspire a lot of confidence in the brand. The X and S are excellent pieces of hardware and I have a lot of games on Xbox. I don’t particularly like playing on PC.

Idk It just feels like they didnt give their own strategy much time to pay off. This news certainly gives me pause when it come to investing any more in the platform. How can hardware be “crucial” to their strategy, but not a “focus?” Sounds like corporate double talk to me. I guess we’ll find out what their strategy is in a couple months.

Imagine all games are playable on the other consoles, but only through xcloud thanks to a special version of Gamepass that only has MS first party games…

Microsoft’s inconsistency causes people to always doubt their strategies, what if this doesn’t work? Will they stop releasing the rest of the games on other consoles and will they stop making hardware? and if it works, will we see the next Forza on PS or a Nintendo console? The problem is that Microsoft doesn’t seem to be following through on its own plans.

Something doesn’t add up honestly. We have some leaks, from a lot of people (still hard to track and know who’s bullshiting and who isn’t) about Hi Fi Rush and/or Sea of Thieves potentially releasing elsewhere. Now, we’ve had the developer direct with a bunch of games announced exclusively on Xbox/PC. We still have a bunch of 3rd party games coming to Xbox Series and 3rd party confidence seems to be on the way up and we all know that platform holders most likely share higher details with the higher ups at 3rd party partners in order for them to make enlightened decisions about whether or not to bring their titles to Xbox.

And now, all of a sudden, some unknown guy on a podcast, supposedly from Zenimax, apparently has all of the juicy details about Xbox leadership, more precisely Sarah Bond having an official announcement this spring about the multiplatform strategy, and from all 20k Xbox employees as well as 3rd parties, he’s the only one who’s leaked this and risked it all on an unknown podcast on youtube, and journalists have reported on this in Eurogamer (I use journalists loosely here) without confirming or verifying and of this, and this is now taken as guaranteed to happen by the gaming community at large?

Something doesn’t add up here, it just doesn’t make any sense, and it reeks of shit.

The thing i dislike the most about all of this is all this discourse some people have like we can’t complain, like “hey sony is not doing very well either so things are ok”, “sony games are releasing on pc too so they are behind”. One thing have nothing to do with the other.

I love my xbox experience and ive spent a lot of money in it but this is not a football team or some shit that i will blindly follow, if they want me to buy an xbox the next generation they have to win me over (like they did at the start of the generation). But if im not feeling respected as a consumer, i have no problem switching platforms.

I don’t care if sony/nintendo players will have access to this games, it’s good for them, but at the start of the next generation when i’ll have to decide wich new console i’ll buy things like this will probably matter.

At the end of the day this is just videogames, we are just consumers and money talks loudly.

But untill nothing is confirmed i won’t believe this shit

The employee supposedly isn’t one. Their twitter feed was also all PlayStation. Just more FUD.

Xbox is about to have a killer 2024. Playstation has no roadmap. Suddenly Xbox is doomed.
