“Sony’s pillars are dated and behind the competition”. That self-assessment must really hurt but at least internally they know the problems and are trying to fix it.
Been saying this for months, people keep banging on about how Xbox can’t lose the power narrative or whatever but this thing is going to be very, very expensive
I say let them get on with it, announce the “next-gen” xbox in 2025 for 26 while continuing to sell S/X
Those who want to upgrade to 2026 can or they can continuing buying the S/X that are already out there for cheap
New gens don’t need the hard cut off like they used to thanks to GP
Its down bad lol, even to the point that it became a contentious topic in the Xbox thread with some brigading going on lol
I think its funny this leak is being treated with kid gloves and some refusing to cover it but the MS leak was fine to dunk on.
More and more proof the media just treats XBOX different then Sony
I think they’ll treat it like the PS5 digital. They won’t really want to sell them because of the cost so they’ll make very few of them.
Lmao you know that’s the game director of Hifi Rush right? He’s just annoyed about the shit situation with his peers.
The Xbox court leaks are “bad” for Xbox employees and devs too but gotta stick it to big bad trillion dollar company amirite? lol
Only way I ever see Spider-Man Online working is if it’s very MultiVerse focus. No one wants to play as plain humans like Mary Jane. Everyone wants to be a Spider-Man.
Spiderman MP can def work if they made a better version of the sunset overdrive MP. The MP in that game was very fun, and I can see a spiderman version somewhat working, but they would need to add some variety in weapons, gadgets, and characters
Kinda funny decides it would be wrong to talk about the leaks…
Where the hell was this for MS?
Only really checking back in on the gaming news space because of the Insomniac stuff (gaming conversation is really bad these days) and its just been a brutal reminder of how tight a grip the PS brand has across the industry.
You now have a generation of journalists who grew up being fans and wanted to be as close to the brand as possible and writing for games and getting exclusive access to people or the games or invites to Hollywood style events (Game Awards etc) must have been such a strong motivator. Now that the traditional games press is crumbling from the rise of streamers who have ZERO accountability and can just be openly paid to shill products, the need to keep good relations with Sony and others is now very publicly showing the cracks in their “journalistic integrity” that used to separate them from those disruptive influencers.
Most people who were smart and passionate about writing about games in a professional manner left long ago or became independent or just moved to a new industry, they saw which way the wind was blowing, all that’s left are the bag holders scrambling to reinvent themselves and it makes me sad.
There is a very clear way to report on stuff like this and to just not cover the whole topic with a “brave statement.jpg” on twitter and put your head in the sand hoping PR was pleased is pathetic. I can only hope this reveals to more people how this shit really works and just gets more people to think for themselves, none of these people are your friends or are looking out for you by not reporting on this. The responsibility is with you the consumer, reader, individual to choose if you want to know about it or not. (Obviously don’t spread around peoples personal info that’s actually harmful)
It’s frustrating seeing the entire games media use the personal information aspect of this as a cart blanche excuse to ignore the entirety of the leak. If they had taken this type of stance before, I would be ok with it, but they’re just showing themselves to be the miserable hypocrites that they are. If this same exact scenario had happened to Microsoft or any other gaming company, they would not be taking this moralistic stance.
I’m not surprised, just disappointed. There’s no bias though. Nope, none at all.
As always with Gaming media
Sony = good and must be protected MS= bad and must be taken down
This attitude would have been very different if it was Call of duty/Blizzard/EA or some other non-beloved studios. No doubt about it.
Agreed with the hand-waiving, and if the media was serious about actual journalism, maybe the question should finally be asked: is Sony using Norton for their security or some shit? This isn’t just the first, second, or even third major hack Sony has suffered from in the last several years.
Now, this is obviously wrong and I’m not saying anyone should do anything but it would be interesting to see what Naughty Dog is up to…
Sony still use Vaios with Win7, latest security update like 5 yrs ago or something. Cerny’s PS5 presentation, look at the laptop
I mean you don’t have to imagine it. Ubisoft and Rockstar stuff has been leaked how many times - no concerns. Those are big bad mean companies so those devs don’t count I guess. “Well this is different because it was a ransomware attack and included harmful personal information about employees” - just like Capcom but that was fair game too.
Like just stop all the hand wringing about protecting the devs if it’s going to be so transparent that only your favorites count.
Youd figure after the 2011 hack and PS online being shut down for a month Sony would take this security thing more seriously
i thought it died ages ago
