It just further highlights that the gaming media is just a PR arm for Sony and Sony can use threats of blacklisting to get the media to do whatever they want for Sony’s benefit.

Damn you, Elden Ring!
Yeah it sucks to see such a talented development house stuck on Marvel. Personally, I’m pretty burnt out on Marvel/DC including TV, movies and games. Although, I did really enjoy that Guardians game by SE.

Its why Sony is just not very apealing. They go in on one formula and milk it till they kill it. Sad dad walking sims is becoming Marvel game for Sony. Sony has little variety and just pushes the same crap.
I liked Jeff Grubb’s take on this whole controversy on Last of the Nintendogs with Mike Minotti. Basically, he thinks (1) the media has a responsibility to report the news, (2) there isn’t an ethics concern because no one is reporting the leaked personal info, and (3) the leaked gaming info is already public, so refusing to report it is just abdicating that task to people less equipped to do so (leading to a worse outcome ultimately).
Imo this is all very clearly common sense stuff that anyone who reports the news should agree with, but hey I guess that has been shown to be not the case.
Wonder how Tam feels about the Giantbomb podcast reporting it? He’s a part of GB.
Yeah hes part of it but not influential in any decisions. Wasnt even on the podcast
But gamespot very hypocritical when it comes to leaks so noone gives a shit anyway
Fair play to Grubb dor discussing it
So Grubb has gone over the leaked stuff? If so, then props to him for being the only person in gaming media that’s doing their actual job.
Wouldn’t be much of an exclusivity deal, if they could just release a “remaster” on other platforms.
I don’t think the IP is important enough for either Sony and MS to care quite frankly, regardless of who owns what
Yeah he dedicated a large portion of the GB podcast’s news section to it including Insomniac’s future roadmap and the Sony stuff regarding sales and ABK.
Nice. Massive props to Grubb as he’s the only one who’s covering all this stuff.
While disheartening whos to say this is not what the heads of insomniac want to do… much like Blade being done by Arkane… A spiderman trilogy could be fun (not for me I am not a big fan of marvel IP) but this might be what the studio wanted… dishearting as a fan of insomniac but it is what it is.
Yesterday IGN had a bunch of the leaked stories on their front. Now they are nowhere to be found on the front page or on their playstation tab on the front page. Did Sony pressure them to take it all down?
Most likely yes. Just goes to show how news sites are being controlled.
i say it’s a fair play from Sony. we as a regular folks aren’t supposed to see those confidenteal stuff. just like how other dev like Kojima had attempted to take down the early Overdose clip leaks.
And yet going off that lifetime sales to date numbers makes it seem like they will entirely miss their 2023 Guidance for 25 Million PS5 sold. The stock market won’t like that.
Context: PS5 hits 50 million sales, Sony achieves 14 million PS5 console sell-through in 3 quarters
A bit ago, Sony published PS5 sell-through figures in its annual Games & Network Services strategic meeting presentation. As of the end of FY22, the PS5 had sold-through 36 million consoles. A bit of math shows that Sony has managed to sell-through over 14 million PS5 consoles in the last 9-month, 3-quarter period, with the majority of December’s PS5 sales not counted in the figure.
Removing information from internet seems quite futile.
