Looking at this from the outside and as someone who likes to write, I tend to agree. If anything I consider writing a struggling, sympathetic, victim, type character as one of the safest characters you can create. There is nothing difficult about putting your characters though hardship to garner sympathy and to provoke emotion from the viewer. It is much harder to create a standout character that is just “normal”.
If anything it takes some damn guts to make a game that gets a “trans game” label which you know is going to cut off a lot of buyers and at the same time not completely milk the trauma angle.
I played for an hour. I really like the atmosphere, the details and the two characters. The image is super sharp on X. I like where they taking the story. It could have been Life is Strange 3 from the look of it. It shares some of the same themes too. I’m impressed.

I like these style if games, love a good story.
Loved Life is Strange, so really looking forward to playing this.

It is a really simple list, but there are some missable achievements you have to worry about. The chapter select in this game is pretty good, though, so I recommend going in blindly.
Also, while there are no achievements for grabbing every collectible, there might be one when the rest of the chapters drop.

I loved life is strange and found life is strange 2 to be even better. The ending of that game really hit me hard. Can’t wait to play this.
Yeah… I’ll do a blind playthrough as the episodes releases and then do another one to also pick up any missed achievements when they are all released.
Man, I’m behind on Dontnod games, and I really love their stuff. Will have to play this.
Finished the first episode and this is way better than LiS2. Alaska is an incredible backdrop, the mystery is intriguing and i like the more puzzle oriented approach.

Episode One was amazing. Also, I’m not going to speak for trans people from a cis position, but that said as an autistic person I would love a representation like Tyler’s. Complex and nuanced without playing it for Inspiration Porn or inadvertantly falling into phobic attitudes, at least from what I’ve played thus far.

Just finished episode 1, damn it was nice.
Excited to see where the story goes but god damn that ending was creepy!, I had a feeling something like that was going to happen tho when one of them mentioned the mother created a specific creepy character.
So glad the tech finally feels like a step forward from Life is Strange and the gameplay also seems like a solid step forward. Looking forward to keep playing.

Agreed, especially on the creepy part! Really intrigued by that that shadowy monster thing was? Would interesting to see if maybe this took a turn into horror!
This normally is not my type of game am more of a fps guy but downloaded this and played it through and am hooked what an amazing way of telling a story twists and turns all the way and left as it was getting really good looking forward to the nest chapters

Much better looking than the Life is Strange games, game looks great on Xbox One X.
As usual from dontnod it’s a great story and it had me playing through the whole episode in one sitting. Something about the setting and environnements that makes you feel right at home and somewhere I’d like to visit myself. Just has a comfy vibe to it.
Story is great so far, it’s a sensitive subject I guess although still very actual in 2020 and it’s nice to see it tackled in game form on Xbox no less! The connection between the 2 main characters and all the little stories around it and lore (goblins, mad hunter) and the way it all connects with the story is intriguing and well thought out.
Can’t wait for episode 2, definitely a good 85/100 for me.

This is really good! Better than LiS2.
hmmm this game has a reaaally slow pacing… had to put it down several times because I almost fall to sleep. It was certainly not enough mystery for me. Something to give it a nice twist like LiS. This is just a family drama right now.
6/10 for me atm…
