Switch 2 officially announced by Nintendo

I can see this happening. It does give that filler sensation, though if they show announced Switch titles with release date, namely Metroid Prime 4, then it’s fine.

Yeah, that’s where I’m at; I already know I’ll be getting one eventually, I just wanted a bit more on the hardware details front. I also haven’t finished any of the Zeldas on the Switch, and as poorly as Link’s Awakening runs I really hope those enhancements are broad and as universally-applied as possible.

At least it seems to be bigger, the Switch and Joycons are made for toddlers. Not that mine will ever leave the dock. Day one I’ll put that in the dock, joycons in a drawer and get a pro controller.

While we don’t know the power and specs, as Steam Deck and other devices are catching on, more so the former, the saving grace is Nintendo’s titles, so that alone will keep them safe.

I like the design too, it’s a nice boost in size and how they did the accents over the original IMO.

As long as it just does a straight up boost clock to maximize OG Switch games’ variable frame rate and dynamic resolution I’ll get one ASAP. Not to mention it’ll have the best version of Prime 4, presumably.

Since we have a lot of time to wait, list feature or reason that need to happen to win you over day one.

That wasn’t particularly exciting as far as reveals go, but Day 1.

It looks like the joycon connection is designed for failure of snapping/breaking off, and the part isn’t on the replacable joycons but on the main unit itself. Maybe the images were just mockups and it’ll be extremely rigid metal housing, but who knows.

The date Nintendo picked for further reveal could be better. Why did they have to make it so close to April Fools Day. I can already see the media having fun with that, then seeing Nintendo do their real reveal and responses of “You’re kidding us, right?”.

Yeah that looks snappable… Good thing I’ll never use them.

All I will say is day freaking one!!! Just hoping they have the Pro controller ready at launch and an official backwards compatible list beforehand. Let’s go!!! :joy:

Ergonomics does what Nintendon’t. ™

I like the design too, minus the lack of ergonomics on the joycons - after finally getting the Hori and MobaPad solutions, it’s painful to go back to the lack of ergonomic bumps :frowning:

I like this pivot. For me, I keep hoping the LCD rumor is false (I know, I know) because that’s a definite turnoff as much as I use handhelds these days, but as long as the handling of BC and their potential enhancements are noticeable, and there’s a decent stable of new Switch 2-enhanced titles, I’m there.

Could turn out to be wrong, but I would expect universal BC except for a few titles that use the system in odd ways. Like Labo stuff or something.

I think it will be like Xbox Series not supporting Kinext games, basically.

That’s the hope.

This will be a real heavyweight main event when Mario Kart goes against Forza Horizon 6.

You’re expecting FH this year?

wOw i 1A PLAy ZELDA!

I mean GG already for PS5 Pro, but this would be a good price if the presentation showcase the hardware to be a necessary upgrade.

Well that was uneventful.

The joycons definitely looks like an improvement but I need to know the specs.

I’m not expecting anything groundbreaking, however I’m hoping it’s at least modern-ish.

Specs already leaked (allegedly from SDK)

TF is kind of a pointless number anymore, but the switch 2 leaked specs are:

  • 8 Core Arm Cortec-A78C CPU

Nvidia T239 GPU:

  • 1 Graphics Processing Cluster (GPC)
  • 12 Streaming Multiprocessors (SM)
  • 1534 CUDA cores
  • 6 Texture Processing Clusters (TPC)
  • 48 Gen 3 Tensor cores
  • 2 RTX ray-tracing cores

RAM:

  • 12GB RAM

Handheld:

  • CPU @ 1100.8 MHz
  • GPU @ 561 MHz, 1.72 TFLOPs
  • RAM @ 2133 MHz, 68.26 GB/s

Docked:

  • CPU @ 998.4 MHz
  • GPU @ 1007.3 MHz, 3.09 TFLOPs
  • RAM @ 3200 MHz, 102.40 GB/s

Honestly, its more powerful than I expected and really good for a handheld. Nintendo will really be able to work some magic with it.
