There is literally a stream on Thursday with Xbox, so we will have to wait until then to declare that Xbox is no longer commited to Japan, and Sony is being good again, while spitting in Japan Studio face.
Xbox being in official TGS is already saying they care. It’s an uphill battle and while there are likes of Square, they’re not going down without a fight.
Xbox is getting way more than “three Japanese games” from Japanese devs. And are you guys really complaining about a show that had a day one gamepass announcement and Japanese exclusive game announcement as not having enough lol?
That’s for sure, I was being sarcastic for those saying Xbox suddenly doesn’t care about Japan.
There is always a bit of doom and gloom after a Sony show for some reason.
It’s about showing JP games specifically. If an Xbox show is 98% Western games and then they do “uh oh yeah Japanese game” at the end it doesn’t help make Xbox look like a good place to play JP games… And I don’t mean to sound like, they need to pad their show with 15 farming JRPGs like Direct just did, but they need more JP content on their shows to give Xbox a better image for people who play these types of games, and they did a much better job of that in E3 2018 and 2019 when they had a lot of JP content spread throughout the shows, rather than 3 (really 2, Kojima wasn’t a game) suddenly at the end.
And yet all Japanese content were among those that were noticed the most by people online.
So let me get this straight:
Microsoft acquires Double Fine, funds Psychonauts 2 to the point that it becomes a vastly better game than the original scope (confirmed by devs multiple times; game ends up being a GOTY contender and DFs highest rated game ever), but still honors the announced PS4 version.
They acquire Bethesda after Sony paid to keep Deathloop and Ghostwire: Tokyo off of Xbox, but still choose to honor the contracts for PS exclusivity, and it’s a few days from a whole ass year since it launched and they cannot even talk about the Xbox version due to them choosing to honor the contract (when in reality they could’ve paid the fine from the clause in the contract for the games to be multiplatform and no entity would bat an eyelash as they are in their rights to do so; not like theyre making the games exclusive which they would also be in the rights to do so but it looks worse).
They offer to keep CoD on PlayStation for at least until the end of this generation, preemptively, without any concession to do so, which far exceeds the industry standard.
Yet… Sony is merely publishing Project Eve and completely cancels the confirmed Xbox version?
Is this real life? lol, I wonder if any media will talk about this.
Like others have said, one step at a time lol.
We’re lucky that MS is still even trying in that market, if Switch and Sony were doing Xbox numbers in Japan, they wouldn’t even bother with it.
Atleast wait until TGS before all of this concern posts.
It will be funny if Xbox brings Project Eve game to exhibit in the court.
It’s an uphill battle alright and that is why I have come to peace with accepting that I will miss out on some games (and that is totally OK) but yeah things are much better now than what they were before 3-4 years. Phil and the rest of the team are definitely doing their best to bring quality Japanese content on Xbox.
Thing is, Game Pass is also a vital part of Xbox now and I don’t really want to see games that are not coming to Game Pass on the shows. I enjoy knowing that everything I watch, I get in my library when it releases. Makes me much more interested in a lot of titles.
I wonder if this is their showcase. That or maybe they will use the next show for PSVR2 showing.
Every major MS show has always been mostly western game, it’s a western company. This e3 had the persona series announcement, wo long, and the partnership with kojima for an exclusive game.
MS has way more studios than everyone else and they also have gamepass, so they aren’t gonna feel the need to pay to show off Capcom’s or whoever’s games at e3 when they rather show.off their own games
Also there wasn’t Octopath Traveler 1 for PS… So PS is just getting 2 and missing 1. Huh?
Square being Square.
Not to mention, they did focus only 12 months, while with Sony, you don’t know when they will show up.
Im talking about what they show, im obviously not saying Xbox is only getting 3 Japanese games, im talking about their showcase on top of what they are actually funding
and no, its really not even close to enough when the competition can announce 2 big Asian exclusives in a random State of Play
Xbox used to have tonnes of exclusive Japanese games in the Xbox and 360 days, back when they didn’t even have close to the support they have now so there’s no excuses anymore
It remains to be seen how “big” project eve and ronin will be. Relax.
The numbers are irrelevant its about the software support from thst country. Those games sell globally
only Ragnarok interested me, but I’m glad most of the other big names are coming to the platform like Tekken 8 and Yakuza.
