Starfield |OT| You're Finally Awake... In Space!

Yes, it’s the mod system used across BGS games - specifically Fallout 4 and Skyrim.

Apologies, was in doc appointments.

Watched the May Update for Starfield and yeah, it’s really good and a lot more stuff that I was expecting. I was expecting to just be able to increase the numbers for MASS and Vendor Credits to my liking but it appears that it’s based on which option you select. I’m hoping Vendor Credits is at least 10000 for every vendor which from the video does appear that it can surpass that so this should be good. They showed picking up potatoes but didn’t show what the actual MASS limit is for each option that is available to you. I’m hoping for at least 1000 MASS limit minimum because since I literally loot everything that’s not nailed down, im always around 1000 and sometimes, I go past it but 1000 is a good solid number.

The city maps look great and very detailed with an overhead view as well as seeing all the icons when in the city like New Atlantis. However, I do have an issue which wasn’t shown in the video nor was it an option when scanning the planet to see all the icons and that’s the ability to “way point” an icon so it goes on the mini-map and it just guides you there as it should. If I can do this, then I will have gotten exactly what I wanted.

Love the option for a 60FPS mode and since I have the LG CX OLED, I do have VRR so while I will wait and see how the frame rate actually is at 60FPS, if it can be a locked and consistent 60FPS or at least 55+ at all times, that would be awesome even though I will say that 30FPS felt great in first person on foot but in third person felt off to me.

The camera option for when taking to NPC’s is a good addition. Not one I was looking for or needed especially since I played exclusively in first person when on foot but actually looks cool.

Vehicle wise, I was hoping for an ATV but a buggy which is also an off-road vehicle is perfectly fine by me because im sorry, a Jetpack simply wasn’t good enough when exploring the surface as a lot of points of interest are far apart from each other. Granted, this will be later on but to know it’s coming and that they’re working on it is great news.

Last thing which is a pet peeve of mine in every game is that im hoping there’s an option to turn off the background for subtitles/dialogue. But this is just a personal preference.

Anyway, overall, a great update and more customization options that I was expecting. Hoping the vehicle update is in the summer before the expansion releases which is rumored for September so I can get back into the game with everything I wanted before Shattered Space hits. :joy: :joy: :joy:

Re: credits:

That’s from the Steam beta, so I suppose it could technically change prior to console release, but I suspect it won’t. I think the beta is more about bugs than balance.

Awesome!! Thanks. :joy:

Now, just waiting to see people talk about the MASS options. :joy:

I’m honestly fine with both.

With the original you really see the nice details on some of these outfits. I dig that stuff. I’ve never been against how BGS does conversations. Would I dig it even more if they were more realistic like in Cyberpunk? Oh for sure.

@Doncabesa

Jesse, I saw that you were playing the May Update Beta earlier today. Did you happen to check out the MASS limit options and how much the increases are? If so, can you please let know? Thanks.

Interior maps looking great:

Here’s a look at exterior maps, and maybe calling these ones great is not accurate. This is closer to awesome.

That’s some great mapping, things I want to see in the future:

A toggle to disable the invisible walls at the zone limit (more likely will be a mod).

More melee weapons and upgrades for melee weapons, because they fall so far behind guns, when we can’t give them more damage that doesn’t come from a legendary effect. The only time I have been able to take full advantage of melee and have it be somewhat comparable and sometimes better is when I get a Va’ruun Pain Blade with instigating, doing nearly always one-shot stealth attacks.

Hand to Hand weapons (and upgrades too), being able to knock anything out with a lucky hit is awesome, but not having the damage to end a fight quick is not. I remember having to knock out, stealth attack head punch some enemies at least twice to do so. Others it wasn’t worth it. (I am hoping these 2 points are address by the Shattered Space DLC)

I also remember someone on Nosodium testing the new survival mechanics and how the suits protection was paper thin. I should look up if the new settings increase those protections, but I also want to explore that on my own.

Thanks for posting this, maps were very low on my list things I wanted. But the way they have implemented it is like looking at survey data or shooting a probe down onto the planet.

Be much better to pick and choose where I want to go on a planet, really rather great. With mods I can’t wait to see the expansion of POI locations.

The invisible zone limit seems to be gone already

Here’s a write-up of the changes coming May 15th. Nothing new, but nice to have a written compilation of it for reference. Also, the piece have short videos (taken from the original) showcasing each change.

So it sounds like none of the changes will affect my upgrade path going forward?

I planned it all out while watching some videos on the various perks and it seems like some of them were actually pretty useless. It sounds like they made no changes to that so I’m going to just max out what I’ve chosen so far.

That all looks great especially seeing points of interest that you haven’t visited or scanned yet on the map. I just hope that we can way point these undiscovered points of interest because being able to do so would entice me to travel to them and explore the location.

On a related note - I really can’t wait for the buggy. Combined with the maps, that’s going to be freaking awesome!!!

Maybe, I’m getting some conflicting info from some NoSodium posters. But then again you have been playing the beta, so fingers crossed it comes Xbox.

Really? What happens does it spawn in another tile?

Edit

Reading more about it, seems like they are still there, but laying the ground work to remove them or at least change the way they behave.

A user was able to bypass them, in the past it would crash, but they noticed it now streams a new tile and updates the map as well.

Hopefully that’s correct, It’s currently not the most priority as it is very rare for a normal playthrough, but once they add the land vehicles it’s definitely gonna be important to have.

Bonus shot of a decorated Guardian bridge at the end.

Also, there’s this:

While I’m happy to be able to do that, apparently she doesn’t actually say or do anything, which is a bit of a bummer. Maybe in a later update, if they have to bring in the actress for additional line readings for something more substantial. Crossing my fingers.

Good video regarding the newest update and beta. A lot of good info and 1180 mass limit when using the greatly increased option. Vendor credits are insane too!! But im not complaining!! lol

The vendor credits should have been changed a long time ago, I have tonnes of stuff in storage that I currently can’t sell as I’d get less money than they are worth (over 13k).

The fact that many of the vendors are currently capped at 5k is still stupid IMO, glad they are making that change.
