Starfield |OT| You're Finally Awake... In Space!

I can only stand rerolling so much though, so I settled for no all holster weapons are weigh 50% less. That was my first roll in NG, it was just so good that it made all other suits obsolete.

Rught now, I have +40 carry weight, veteran and 10% damage reduction from all sources.

I finished the main quest last night and it definitely landed perfectly for me, much like the faction quests, which all had their unique styles. I’ve clocked up 8 days since launch and I still want to play more, as I saw so many opportunities to do things differently.

Overall, I’d give the game a 9/10.

I just wanted to give all the aspects of the game a chance. I mostly enjoy the questing and combat so I’m just going to focus on that rather than the exploration. For various reasons it doesn’t hit that same spot as say Skyrim or Fallout exploration wise.

Handcrafted vs procedural is the issue.

Partially. For me in say Skyrim I would get a quest, set my marker, walk in that direction and get distracted by random things, find quests etc as I walked by. That’s not as much of a thing now. Get a quest her in my ship, really can’t just fly there so you fast travel. Sometimes you get a random space battle or distress signal or something which is fun. But with there being so many planets that you mostly just have to menu to, I don’t just get the urge to go explore them. You land pretty much where you need to be for missions to. And when you do explore the lack of handcrafted areas kind of wears me down.

So the almost forced exploration that gets you hooked is mostly gone.

That said I get why people still love exploring in this, it just doesn’t do it for me personally. I have started to like space battles and it’s almost more fun when your ship is still in danger and you don’t just destroy them instantly.

I swear, earthquakes get me every time that I play this game, I’m just minding my own business heading to a quest or exploring and suddenly the ground starts shaking and I’m always like ā€œWTF was that!ā€

Quakes you say? :face_with_raised_eyebrow: I’m well north of 125 hours and have never experienced one… crazy.

It’s similar to when they do the mining on Mars, but no warning what’s so ever. It also feels stronger, currently I have expirence at least 10, but 3-4 of them happened all at once. All but those 3-4 on different planets, not including Mars.

The other things I’ve been hit with from time to time is sand storms, with the 2 strongest making it hard to see more than a couple of meters.

This sounds awesome, I’ve never encountered one.

I myself am trying to find a volcano, I know someone on Reddit posted a picture of them standing on the edge of one. So far I have only found heat vents in volcanic areas.

So I updated the game, and now when I try to load my game as soon as it loads up and starts playing, the game crashes and goes back to the game start up sequence like a reboot. I have tried in about 10 times and the exact same thing happens every time. I tried loading the one save point before this one, and the same thing happens. How can an update actually fuck up your game? Anyone know a fix, or encountered the same thing?

The last update buggered up my game too, it was crashing continuously. Fortunately I was at a point where I only had the final main mission so I completed that and in NG+ it was all fixed.

If you have any big outposts I suggest deleting them as that seemed to help for me.

Yes! I found one, only i have no idea what planet. Kind of wish screenshots would label the planet you are on.

I think the game needs a digital Captain’s Log, like in Star Trek. Any planet feature you come across that you want to come back to, you have an option to store it there.

Oh that’s a great idea.

I know people have been asking for City Maps and that they’re looking into it but another quicker option would be for the shops and whatnot to have icons on the mini-map so you could just follow it that way and possibly have the icons in the world similar to Ubisoft games.

I dont know about you, but every time I land on Earth I feel extremely sad.

It doesn’t take long to learn where everything is, but I guess maps would make sense considering the setting. Arrive at a new hub, download the map from one of the information terminals to your watch. That sort of thing.

True but it is annoying. When I was in Akila City, I was looking for the vendor that was selling resources for like 10 minutes. I was going nuts. I was like come on. Why can’t there be an icon so I can just go right there? To me, one of my negatives with Starfield is the lack of quality of life stuff that should be in the game. Mostly minor issues but still, would make the game and experience even better.
