Starfield |OT| You're Finally Awake... In Space!

But graphically it looks great but I wonder, is it the face animations or the fact that there are in fact mini loading screens to walk into every building and cave on every planet? They’re minimal though but I think it’s true that there are some engine limitations,I understand the game not getting high 90s but low 80s is still baffling to me.

(I know the PC version has an 87 ok Metacritic).

Hopefully Bethesda is able to work those little things out for ES6, like face animations, AI etc.

Starfield does not look good graphically compared to Harry Potter.

It is the art style in Starfield that is amazing.

There is difference between art style being good and graphics being good.

This kind of crap really gets my goat. I know it’s irrational but it makes me annoyed at mods and modders in general. The whole, “This modder is more talented than the real developers!!1” thing when (1) any work that a modder has accomplished is 1% effort built on top of and only made possible by 99% of the work that the real developers did and (2) most of the time there’s bugs or compatibility issues that the mods cause that a modder doesn’t have to worry about but a real dev would be crucified for.

Disappointed that Luke Stephens would go this route, he’s usually pretty astute.

Personally from what I’ve seen from him, it’s on brand. But maybe I’ve just been exposed to his worst.

Maybe I’ve just been lucky. :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

This mod makes ship combat insanely difficult because, of course, your ship is exponentially faster than light speed.

:joy:

Though it has hotkey to switch to normal speed

I’m still getting surprised by things like overhearing someone talk about a rumor they heard with another NPC, I get an activity: Go to XY, I go there and I get involved in a two hours+ sidequest with a good story, interesting characters and great rewards.

A little bit of event horizon too

It’s really just the faces

If the faces were up to par with the rest of the game, 90% of the graphics talk would be gone

I think so too. It’s the one area I feel they could improve a lot graphically. Graphics are not high on my priority list, tbh I don’t even factor it into my grades unless it’s particularly horrible. Faces could use some work though.

It’s definitely lower on my priorities but I do feel they are very weak in comparison to the rest of the game

Considering the scale, the game looks absolutely bonkers at times when it comes to environments and materials but then you look at some of the dead eyed, botox faces and it’s just a shame it overshadows the rest of the game for some people

Yeah, and it’s a game with a lot of people and dialogues so it’s very in your face (lol). I don’t pretend to know anything about it but it should be fixable.

I am falling in love with the exploration side of the game. Now that I am emotionally involved in the universe, it feels special to find the planets features. Its like pokemon but with rocks.

The constellation terminal mission are weirdly addictive and of course finding the materials to mass produce expensive stuff is a nice bonus.

This planet I’m on “Niira” is basically Fallout lol

Starfield’s graphics/visuals are excellent especially the interiors which are insanely detailed. The only negatives are the facial animations and the lip syncing which I can look past because of everything else that the game is doing at a high level.

Yeah, there are only two things that seem below the insane visual quality of everything else. The facial expressions of non questline NPCs, particularly the eyes. And the look of the foliage, the assets just look lower resolution or detail or something.

The UC Vanguard questline… Escalation

If I knew I would have probably waited a bit longer before tackling it. Holy shit though best questline so far!

All the quest lines are great. Even the single side quests are damn good. Best of all, a lot of them are interconnected with other quests. For example, that side quest activity where you have to go to The Well to check out the brown outs is connected to GalBank but I don’t know how it ends and don’t want to say anything else but going through part of that quest(line), I was like, damn, this is so freaking cool because I wasn’t expecting The Well brown out quest to really go anywhere but it does.

I have done 6 or 7 main story missions and just did the one with Walter as my companion which was good and just did the first 2 missions in the Crimson Fleet story line.

Quests alone are excellent and seriously giving The Witcher 3 a run for it’s money which for me personally, is the standard for RPG’s but BGS is seriously looking like it’s taking back that crown with Starfield because holy shit, their quest (lines) are great.
