So are there specifically horror-y side-quests you’d recommend?
Of all things BGS improved NPC A.I. is not one of those. I can shoot around and truly nobody cares. Not in this clip, but I threw a grenade on the ground where a lot of people were standing and the reaction was zero. Lol.
So far for me human enemy A.I. hasn’t been too hot either. I’m probably misremembering, but right now it feels as if enemy reactions were better in Fallout 4, but I could be way off there.
I didn’t expect RDR A.I. and reactions, but this is less than what Cyberpunk does. I can laugh about it, but of all things I really hope they DO bother making this more believable for TES VI.
I think one of the Crimson Fleet quests had major Dead Space vibes.
You could also go to the Schrodinger System and board the Colander.
You definitely misremembering it. Fallout AI was slightly better than Skyrim excluding stealth.
In Starfield playing as a stealth character the enemies are very aware about you. It’s actually very fun playing on the highest difficulty as a stealth solo character.
See, I don’t notice these things. As I’m not roleplaying a psychopath I do not randomly drop grenades on civilians. This goes for a lot of the weirder things you see out there, bugs or glitches etc. As someone who plays games immersively I rarely encounter such things.
Not only in this game either of course.
I actually am having a lot of fun just pickpocketing folk in NA, thats kinda stealth too I guess. But I will try putting it on hardest. However, if a gun fight does break out, won’t the enemies be bullet sponges?
But as for grenades, didn’t baddies in Fallout 4 scream and try to get away from them when you threw them?
You and I differ in those aspects. I always try the most random shit you can think of. I recently came back from RDR2 and I had been really paying attention to the realism of how NPCs reacted to stuff. What you say makes sense though. It was just for trying out, but I did expect some kind of reactions. Starfield is not the kind of “mess around” game that GTA and RDR2 (to an extent) are.
The citizen NPCs are just bad no question, but I don’t even engage with them, I could easily pass their lack of reaction because it’s not a real part of the game anyway.
Enemy AI I’d say is inconsistent, they give a good fight but their pathing and positioning can be all over the place sometimes, I think some ares have too much stuff going on in the layout that the AI pathing gets confused, that needs some work. As a reaction, meaning hit reaction, they’re fine and it’s different depending on the weapon.
Yea Xbox aren’t allowed to be happy about their games it seems.
Yep. It would be nice if they can patch it so that it’s at least consistent. Good AI can make combat encounters so much fun.
As for reactions, I solely meant how NPCs react to stuff such as gunfire around them and explosions or grenades being thrown. The hit reactions I’ve noticed can look a bit bullet spongey, I shot a few human enemies and they didn’t really react to being hit, didn’t flinch, sometimes they did. I do like how they react to being hit with a wrench or by fists though. This is promising for sword combat in TES VI whereas it was like hitting a tree when you attacked human enemies in Skyrim.
Yes, but if you max out your weapon skills especially Tier 4 and Concealment it’s not that bad.
Would you say that the higher the difficulty, the more easily they spot you? I tried stealthing on Kreet, but they immediately spotted me, and that was on normal. ![]()
Stealth is something you invest in, Kreet is way too early for you to consider it. Skills and some equipment with concealment traits is the best start
Nope.
What helps the most is leveling up your Stealth perk and when indoor unequip your Jetpack, Spacesuit and Helmet.
Also don’t “run” while sneaking and dont use a companion. Concealment lvl 2 helps with the running part.
I also think the weight of your weapon effects your detection, but I’m not too sure.
I think the AI is pretty decent where it makes sense. I had a tough fight against a squad of Eclipse mercenaries last night, they used elevation, flanking, pushed and used cover very well. I got my ass handed to me lol.
I also have the random Spacer trying to rush me in melee where it makes no sense. Then, it does considering the faction is being made up by randoms thugs.
I do not expect every enemy I fight to be Navy Seals, quite the opposite since that would be super weird.
Has someone found a good guide on finding magazines, the ones that are randomly placed?
Hm nah, I’ve not come to the “guide part” of my Starfield journey yet lol.
I find a lot of magazines though, always keeping an eye out at the usual places. They have all been placed in pretty logical places where you’d put a magazine which makes it easier.
I have been exploring NA a lot today and I am very impressed and surprised by how you can get to many places you’d think you wouldn’t be able to. Then I actually got here…
Foolish me thought NA was simply the city and that’s it. Until I opened the map, had no idea there’s explorable ground outside the city too. What a surprise!
In NEON I also kept wandering and falling to areas down below where I thought I was definitely going to die and reload but it kept going and the were areas that were still connected and I could climb back to the city.
Yeah, it’s stuff you wouldn’t expect, cool!
Is there a way to “equip” your fists? My guy is good at boxing, it’s a skill, but it seems I have to first go into inventory and unequip the gun to be able to use my fists. The quick inventory with dpad doesn’t help me, because as soon as I tap RT it equips the gun again.
I find the melee fun, and the hit reactions are satisfying. ![]()
