Starfield |OT| You're Finally Awake... In Space!

Fair. Either way it wasn’t a strong opening. You touched something and had a vision that was pretty simple, now drop your life to go find out what it means cause some stranger told you to even though he has no idea what it means and for all he knows you just had some sweet drugs. Again im going to restart the game tonight and maybe it was just me being tired found it bad.

The opening is pretty dull imo

First couple of hours I wasn’t really feeling it but after I finished the first quest on Kreet and just went exploring I’v been hooked

30+ hours and I feel like iv done virtually nothing, never experienced a game so huge and with so much content, it really is overwhelming even after over 30 hours

For me as openings go it’s on par or better than all the other Bethesda openings, because they were all pretty ok at best.

I think it did it’s job well. You got some mechanics explained, created your character and most importantly your raison d’etre was established.

Opening was some ass but openings for RPG’s are like the last thing I care about.

I will no doubt ask a few annoying questions if i allow myself… apologies. Only just started, a few hours in. (Where does everyone get their hours played count from?)

How do u know where u need a certain suit and helmet on or is this auto in the game ?

It seems u can only run a short distance and then ur fooked, am i doing something wrong here ?

And i havent failed a lock pick yet, seems to easy… i cant see how u fail ?? Fill me in lads.

The release of this game has done wonders in terms of knowing who to block/ignore in the gaming world, an unheralded way to look at it. This will tussle with RD2 for me in terms of all time fave.

There are different difficulty lock challenges, they do definitely get harder.

  1. Check your save options, it’ll say the amount of hours.

  2. Your running stamina is dependent on your oxygen that will show on your watch.

  3. Novice pick locks are really easy.

Your ingame save file or TA.

It’s automatic. You can choose what you want to display for cosmetic purposes though in areas where f.e a helmet or suit is not needed.

Correct. It’s your oxygen level, think of it as a stamina bar. If you carry too much stuff it will drain faster too.

Good. The locks get more complicated at higher level, but it’s the same idea of patterns and logic.

Agreed!

  1. I knew this would show me up as a fool. Cheers

  2. Is there an ongoing thing about c02 in the lungs and long term damage ?

  3. But even though ok for now, i literally dont get how u can fail, is it harder in the future because u select the wrong type on the right ?

I wouldn’t fear CO2 too much. Doesn’t kill you, it just decreases your health bar which can be healed fairly quick.

Cheers for the patience guys, i know some questions can look so lame to the whipper snappers

Fallout 3 had an incredible opening. Skyrims did a really good job at quickly setting up the story in a way that didn’t feel incredibly rushed, same with Oblivion. Fallout 4s opening might be the best part of the game.

For the first time in a very long time last night, i looked across to my wife who was buying random silly things on the temu app, and automatically thought “you should go on a nice long holiday, alone!”. I didnt speak the words, but they rang true and solid in my mind.

The best I can explain it is with harder locks in addition to adding more cores/layers that need to be unlocked, you also get more spinning pick sections or whatever you want to call them, and they start giving you ones you don’t need to confuse you, and some of them could hypothetically be used on more than one layer. So I mostly need to try to solve the whole thing before I start it. Thankfully it also starts highlighting what section of the lock each piece can be used for.

On Xbox press the menu button on the game, pick game card and pick official club from there scroll to progress and stats.

Space suits for the most part seem to be wear what you want, but that will lead to issues in areas where temperature will cause you issues like frostbite.

Sprinting(when we press the sprint button) depends on how much oxygen we have but we can sprint until the red bar is completely full, if we’re over your carry weight the running (from just hold the stick all the way) will cause you to lose oxygen. If over the carry weight running with full red bar will cause us damage, but we don’t really have to stop as it doesn’t kill us, we just stop if we want to get oxygen to be able to sprint.

Lock picking isn’t based on if you fail, you lose a lock pick whenever you open it and every time you reset any of the locks, we also bank auto lockpicking the more points we invest in the skill.

Have fun!

Yeah it’s all about thinking every step through before commiting. If you are decent at patterns and puzzles it’s still pretty fast at the most difficult locks.

Thats a very solid way of describing it, well done.

The one thing I’ve seen on Lock Picking is to start lining up the lock picks with the inner-most ring, then move your way out layer by layer. Only once you have everything lined up should you start unlocking.

See the thing is, that’s all subjective. You can say it’s amazing and the best thing ever, I would prefer to have a way to skip it(Oblivion/Morrowind as well) like I do with Skyrim and Fallout 4.
