Has he been the only one that ā€œconfirmedā€ FH5 existence? I do recall seeing some other folks teasing Mexico a little, but apart from that…

Klobrille and Jez have been pretty vocal as well. Klobrille was especially adamant about FH5 surely being this year yesterday during the whole Starfield debacle lol

That does make me feel better. Jason Ronald’s off hand comment could be suggestive of FH5 too.

yep, I think that’s the biggest evidence right now given nothing else corroborates to it being any other game that’s first party and is still unannounced. I do think it’ll be crossgen but that won’t matter, if marketed well, looks amazing and the game itself is genuinely good (not unlikely given the franchise’ track record), it’ll be the biggest launch the franchise has seen yet.

ā€œtease a release dateā€

ā€œannounce a specific dateā€

Tease or specifically announce? Which one is it, Jason? :chief_think:

At least both times he’s stating this to make things very clear

It’s just crazy to see Bethesda announcing a Holiday (or truly specific like November) 2022 release date when it’s 1.5 years off.

I just gotta wonder if waiting for E3 next year wouldn’t have been better, for a full showcase/deep dive and have a guaranteed release date.

When people say they think starfield is complete…I believe it. But is it in a working less buggy state…thats the question.

I have no doubts the game as far as story is complete.

I hope Todd is a romanceable character. He’s just so darn dreamy.

I believe Oblivion had a long marketing window. It’s been awhile but I remember Tod Howard showing Oblivion with alot of tech that never made it into the game. Because of the long marketing window, alot of people forgot about the promised tech.

The game is in the polishing phase, it’s that simple.

They’re just taking their time with it.

I do recall that a while ago he said it was fully playable, from beginning to end iirc.

Has anyone thought about the cancelled Bethesda space game the 10th planet

https://web.archive.org/web/19971012034806/http://www.pcgamer.com:80/p_10thplanet.html

From 1997 interview:

Will put spoiler tag just in case

PC Gamer: Set up the scenario of The 10th Planet. What is the storyline? Bethesda: The story of The 10th Planet is an alien invasion of our solar system. Without warning and without provocation, a research base on Pluto is annihilated by an alien war fleet. You are the only survivor, escapin in a tiny one-man fighter. As the game progresses, the aliens spread throughout the solar system, attacking human bases and stations, and setting up their own. The player must fight to save Earth, while also trying to discover the alien’s mysterious motive. I won’t give away the ending, but as you can tell from the game’s title, the player discovers that the aliens come from an undiscovered 10th planet in our solar system.

I think Starfield is going to be a spiritual successor to that and not a galaxy spanning epic.

Human tech will be like an evolution of modern stuff and not some made up discoveries and materials like Mass effect

They could use an Alcubierre warp drive which is an FTL method that can actually be done, given the right materials and a way to generate the energy but the FTL looking thing at the end of Starfield teaser looks a wormhole the station was dragged in, not something it caused.

Someone on Reddit also pointed out the planet could be Pluto

I do think some part of the solar system will be in the game, if it isn’t the entire map. Solar system is more manageable than a galaxy, and there’s plenty of cool places like Titan, Ganymede, Io, Europa that it doesn’t need to be galaxy spanning epic

Do people take this guy seriously? Can’t stand him.

I hope Starfield has stolen a lot from the greatest show of all time, The Expanse.

Yessirrrrrr

One of my dream projects that I’ve mentioned in this forum is InXile making a game either set in the world of Expanse or the show itself. It’d just fit amazingly, it’d be a bit like Mass Effect but without as much alien stuff. The alien stuff would be more mysterious and less present unlike these other space games.

There’d be a crew, you’d have a companion system, factions, branching stories, insane side quests, space walking and shit, damn I could go on.

Realistic sci-fi, not sure how to interpret that. I mean this is his big, epic sci - fi thing he’s always wanted to make. I just hope we can expect some crazy planets, space city(ies) and of course weird and cool wild creatures both friendly and hostile. When I read realistic…I don’t know if any of that could be in there then.

On the other hand, no way we’ll only encounter human enemies, there’s no way. So probably some stuff will be more realistic while there’s still aliens, unique creatures and such. Truly hope they don’t limit themselves because of realism. BGS creature design is great, I want to see some crazy stuff.

I imagine it being hard sci-fi with some nasapunk style to it. We should get some more ā€œrealisticā€ aliens in the form of wild animals or some tribal species.

Yeah, this would be a dream come true, sci-fi games are still too light on naval mechanics (outside simulators like Elite Dangerous and similar titles), it’s only a teleport mechanic like TOW, ME, etc…
