Starfield: Official Gameplay Reveal - Xbox & Bethesda Games Showcase 2022

this is inconsistent af lol, I wonder if they’re from the same capture or different builds, cuz there do seem to be cuts between for what wasn’t even that long of a fight. The same level 2 pirate at the start doesn’t react to the shots, but the one at 4:47 near the wall does?

I am actually curious what Reshade mods will achieve with Starfield too.

yeah I’m sure at launch we’ll see on youtube at least 200 “STARFIELD 4K ULTRA RTX ON DLSS EXTREME CINEMATIC GRAPHICS MOD” that are basically just reshade edits lol

oh and don’t forget to make it wet everywhere, even dry ass desert planets gotta be reflecting like a rainy night in New York.

I believe it was Pete Hines that said this yesterday about how the team all have their own experiences with the game while for example doing the same quest. You can choose to kill the enemy and steal his space ship or many of the other ways and choices.

I think they are pointing to the things Howard said last year about bringing some things back that were lacking in their previous games. Not that Fallout 4 didn’t have some drastic choices, just not nearly as much and good as Oblivion and while I haven’t played it…i would assume Morrowind even more so.

Oblivion and Morrowind have almost zero choices and when they have choices it almost had zero influence.

The only thing I can think about are the 3 houses and Thieves vs Fighters Guild in Morrowind.

And for Oblivion it was the final Arena quest. Before fighting the champion you can help him find his origin. In the end it had almost zero influence. You will be the champion.

Oh and the two sides in Oblivion SI. But still same outcome.

Starfield will play just like all other Bethesda games, yet people act as if Bethesda is doing something different.

the thing is there are no games like this in a looong time.

You’re right, I thought Oblivion had those but I was wrong. Fallout 3 on the other hand with for example Megaton, I loved that.

Oh I saw the hate for that one after launch, before I saw a lot of skepticism but nothing compared to Starfield.

Well, NMS was quite novel at that time.

Xbox Era team should start building an Xbox Planet with mods

@Doncabesa let’s make it happen in 2023

People were riding the hype wave in NMS. It was Hello Games first big indie game.

The problem for Starfield is the disappointment in FO76 and FO4.

If Hello Games would announce a new game as well and Sean Murray repeat his past behavior, people would be skeptical as well.

Yep.

This is something I really hope to see BGS improve a lot in. Seeing some hit reactions is already loads better than Fallout 4 where in real time they just don’t react at all, but VATS comes to the rescue and you barely have to use real-time combat. But VATS (sadly) isn’t here.

People say they don’t care, they will go explore and all that but combat clearly will play a big part in it, there will be plenty of shootouts and it would help a lot if they are at least fun. Same with TES VI, I really hope combat gets a big overhaul, let sword fighting actually feel like that, I don’t mean like Kingdom Come but at least fun, let baddies react to being slashed and stabbed and what not, lol.

I completely get the skepticism, it is understandable, but what we are seeing is some levels of absurdity above that. I saw the reddit thread on Xbox sub and it was nuts. Since when having no protagonist voice was an issue on a Bethesda game? 200K voice lines? RDR had 500 K = weak! 4 cities? This is low and disappointing (complete ignores 4 MAIN cites). No manual landing? generic game, as if it was a space sim!

It is insane, this is not skepticism imo. It is “gamers” being “gamers”, self entitled cry babies that likes to hate on everything.

This game looks to be huge.

Ok that’s hilarious. FO4 got criticized for a voiced protagonist and now Starfield is back to no voiced protagonist. Gamers don’t know what they want.

Exactly, the most acclaimed Bethesda were those without voiced protagonist. It is insanity.

So the thing about the 4 main cities. I think that these are Akila City, New Atlantis, Neon and Cydonia on Mars. I think that these our 4 main cities (like Markarth, Whiterun, Windhelm and Solitude for example but all way bigger) and then a ton of smaller cities.

We know the United Colonies is the most powerful faction in the Settled Systems so it will probably have more than 1 city. Same with the Freestar Collective.

It’s interesting that they are keeping the last city a secret and I don’t think that it’s on Earth but on Mars instead. Mostly because Earth is supposed to be destroyed

It is actually a question much bigger they are. I wonder if the character of city size from Morrowind to Skyrim.

It was in the leaks.
