I get the sense that these structures in New Atlantis are alien too, like the artifacts, they seem to be made of the same stuff as the artifacts to me but I’m probably looking too much into them, wouldn’t be the first time I’ve seen something like that in a game though (MASS EFFECT 1 SPOILERS NEXT) in Mass Effect the Citadel is basically a giant alien structure and the giant structure in the middle was made by them to transport themselves to the citadel.
But 100% sure about this: I think there’s more to House Va’runn, I think there’s more to that Serpent God they worship, as of right now nobody other some Va’runn members know where coordinates to their home planet is and how to return and I get the feeling that “Serpent” is some sort of ancient alien also related to the artifacts who their founder Jinan met and maybe was brainwashed by, maybe of the same species as the creators, when we meet “us” in the end my character told me that I wouldn’t meet them today or something like that, that makes me think we will meet them eventually in a future expansion and that story will probably begin with us traveling to the House Va’ruun planet in the Shattered Space DLC.
I gotta say I was a bit disappointed at the end but also got a bit of goosebumps when I saw my own character talking to me, I always expected the game to end with a teaser of an actual intelligent alien race to set up future DLC and I guess that’s still possible, who knows if that character that looks like us was just some alien or maybe “us” from a very advanced human civilization.
Either way, excited for the future of this game’s universe, there’s so much they can do here and hopefully we get them in future expansions and not a sequel 10+ years away, I think Bethesda should also try to find a way to let us fly our ship with having to fast travel in sol systems, I understand trying to do that for the whole game is probably not possible but maybe with a future update they can let us do it in each sol system.
I was also disappointed with the Free Star and United Colonies not playing a role in the main story at all, especially the United Colonies, how come Constellation has found all these artifacts and temples but a huge government like the United Colonies hasn’t…? I always expected them to come into constellation asking questions at some point but it never happened.
My working theory is that the visions that the Va’ruun have gotten are all related to the Artifacts. As part of their function is to give the first person that touches them a vision.
Now why are the Artifacts responsible? Because Grav Drive technology was created from studying them, so in my head everytime people travel to through space using the Grav Drive they open themselves up to be able to commune with the Unity. But that’s a low chance of it happening, which is why most people don’t experience it.
The Great Serpent may even be something related to the creators of the Unity or maybe even the Pilgrim, as Pilgrim went out if his way to contact 3 different groups to convey a message on how to find The Unity and died 3 times during his confrontation with Jinan Va’ruun. We now know that Grav Drive tech was created to purposely destroy the Earth, because the Nasa doctor was given a vision that humanity wouldn’t explore and settle the galaxy if they still had the Earth to call home. Which goes into my the Pilgrim is the Serpent theory by having them be the one that gave the doctor those visions after he touched the Artifact on Mars.
As for the statues, there’s never any mention on who had them commission. My thinking is that Keeper Aquilus is the one who does so on every time line, as he is a Starborn like his Hunter self. The statues likely represent the armillary, the key to the Unity.
Going into NG+2, and I made some different choices this time to see what the end result would be.
Ryujin as I thought can’t be trusted to go along with the internal Neural Amp. As they use it too dominate the minds of people everywhere and give people in power too much power.
The Microbe used on the Terrormorphs, has the UC selfishly horde it to their own systems. Making it so that they and only they benefit and no relationship is built between them and the FS.
Question: Did anyone here skip/postpone The Empty Nest? That’s the Sam Coe mission. If yes, how did it work out?
The reason I’m asking is because I finally decided to continue with the main quest, and so far I’ve done:
One Small Step
The Old Neighbourhood
Back to Vectera
Into the Unknown
Since 3 and 4 above was assigned at the same time as The Empty Nest, I figured the game wouldn’t give me another main quest until I’d done all three. But upon completion of Into the Unknown, the mission Power from Beyond was unlocked.
So… Anyone do Power from Beyond before The Empty Nest? I don’t want to walk headfirst into a progress-breaking bug if I can avoid it. But I’d also like to postpone The Empty Nest if possible.
I’m in NG+ for the first time, and I just gotta say the Starborn ship is… not good. Yes, it’s plenty fast, but weak in both weaponry and shields. And it’s a pain in the ass to get in and out of.
I’m guessing it’s probably good enough to take on the Hunter and Emissary during the endgame, but I’m not sure. I think maybe I’m gonna have to retrofit the Frontier with some Alpha Beams and a better shield generator.
Yeah, the torpedoes tend to miss a lot and the beams aren’t very strong amd they have such a short range. Since it can’t be upgraded, the shields and everything else can only be improved by getting higher level version of it(before going into NG+ I was able to hijack all the way to 4).
I do think that the beams can wear down systems faster than a lot of other weapons in the game, but they don’t regenerate quick enough to make up for having less damage. Not to mention no perks work with any of the Starborn ships.
I think it would be if it actually keeps leveling up with every NG+, I currently don’t know if it goes higher than Starborn Guardian 6. As that’s the highest I have seen other Starborn use so far.
But that would also kind of be a really big commitment.
