A caveat to this: If you’re buffing up your stacks, your Sabbaths will draw from demons in your reserve. Worth keeping some demons around for that, maybe.
Im planning on buying this later today so I can download it. I won’t have much time to play it until tomorrow. But would we expect an extended edition of this to release sometime later? I know it’s something Atlus does with the Persona games but maybe we’ll just get DLC instead.
You mean like a FES/Golden/Royal version? I wouldn’t count on that. I don’t know that they’re going to add any more content, since there isn’t a season pass or anything.
Edit: As a sidenote, I love the Element family of demons in this one, nice to see them shake things up a bit. Apparently they’re returning demons, though I don’t remember seeing them before.
About 8 hours in, so far I’m really enjoying the game. The art-style is pretty clean, I especially love the look of the UI. Gameplay feels good too, pulling off a full sabbath feels awesome. Also really like the demon fusion and collecting new demons in general, probably my favorite part. Story seems interesting and I like the cast. I can see some of the flaws, like the random encounters being far too common and the dungeon design, but I don’t mind too much.
I’m already a lot more interested in trying out the other SMT and Persona games (super excited for Persona 5 Royal)! Hopefully we’ll get more SMT games on Xbox in the future. Definitely feel like this is a good starting point to get into the wider series, I imagine that was their intention.
Also, didn’t get the Rewards punchcard despite buying it within the timeframe. Oh well.
Some good news (possibly). Looks like over 1,000 people on TrueAchievements have unlocked an achievement in Soul Hackers 2!
This means it also has over twice as many players on TA than GOTY nominee AI: The Somnium Files ~nirvanA Initiative~…… poor AI
Visual Novels are even more niche than JRPGs so that’s ultimately expected.
There was also this poll from SMT Network (PS, Xbox, PC), only got ~800 votes, but Xbox came in second with PS in first, and PS did not -dominate- the other 2 platforms.
Oh I’m well aware of how niche VNs are, just wanted another reason to remind people AI2 exists. Lol
I did see that poll! I hope the split is closer to the truth than I expect, but I usually don’t take Twitter polls too much into account.
I’ve got AI2! The Collector’s Edition even. The Aiba figure is lovely
…Haven’t actually played it yet though
My point isnt them fixing anything. Its thinking it wasnt. A problem in the first place. This isnt a bug. If reviewers didnt complain they wouldnt have fixed anything.
Anyhow its not important now. Just sucks for the game wasnt reviewed with those changes made
I didnt get to play the game at all todat. Hopefully will put more hours into it tomorrow
I mean sh2 was a bigger release. I love ai 2. But the game had no chance to sell thst well. Will be a much bigger when it hits gamepass. The first game also had staggered release on all systems.
As for sh2 achievements…never seen a “complete all other achievement” worth over 100 points. They could have added a few other achievements maybe more in depth ones
I’ve been conditioned by the Press Turn system to be careful about using multi-target elemental attacks against unknown enemies. It’s still not a great move in this game but it’s not as punishing at least!
Edit: Mysteriously, despite the game being sort of cross play/save, it only exists on the MS store on Windows and not in the Xbox app. I really don’t have much experience with PC gaming so I don’t know if that’s unusual at all. Maybe that’s why it seems to act like a Play Anywhere game but doesn’t have the label?
Been progressing the Soul Matrix and about 15 hours in now. Game clearly has flaws in its dungeons design but I feel its pretty solid everywhere else and I’m digging the music. I haven’t been able to put it down and gonna spend a lot of time completing those SM and getting the true ending. The DLC will help with the harder challenges. Not using any of that on first playthrough. Game has a perfect challenge too on hard.
Man the comp smith music has to be legit top tier shop music of all time. The main part from 3:00 mark is so awesome. I literally sat there for 5 mins in the game listening to it.
If you’re interested in the original, Videogamesplus just restocked it for $60 CAD. The 3DS eshop is closed now so your only options are physical copy or piracy.
I did own that game but coudlnt really get into it. It was very dated and hardcore in terms of its style. Didnt like the first person combat and the random encounters was annoying too. Ok game for what it was
Not sure if this applies to everyone else, but I wasn’t getting the Summer Spotlight points for pre-ordering the Deluxe version. Reached out to support and six days later, they just credited me the 5000 points.
On-topic: I’m really digging this, it’s nice to get into one of these games without too much preamble. Characters are likable and systems are fun, that’s all I need.
Yep did the same thing and got 5000 points from customer services…then I went and bought Jojo and got another 5000. lol. Well that’s pretty much my GPU paid for next month
Whats odd now is it shows I own the standard version of SH2 when i pre ordered premium. I have all the premium add on installed so it works but what if I delete? will need to reach out again
And I’m really really enjoying this game. Yes its a bit repetitive and doesn’t have content of the other games but I’m addicted to the gameplay loop and engaged with everything going on with the game. Love the demon fusion aspects and also the simplicity of this game is a welcome change from being bombarded with games throwing a shit ton at you. Like I said before its a throwback to PS2 era JRPGs that had very simple gameplay and game design but also had enough charm to keep you engaged and offer a decent length of content that isn’t too bloated or too short.
