The leaked metal tube Xbox now looks like a masterpiece in style and minimalist design.
I dipped my toe back in to PC gameing with my disappointment in the PS4 and Xone specs. I was hesitant remembering how I spent more time trying to optimize settings and drivers than playing.
But, having a series X and potentially wanting to play PS games without their controller and now seeing the PS5 designs⌠yeah I think Iâll save up a bit and get a gaming PC I can put in my main play area. Hook my elite controller to it and play much of whst I want there. The series will be my bedroom and travel machine.
Non sequitur, but I was kind of hoping to drag my feet more and see if AMD does more to compete with nVidia in ML and AI assists.
Iâm assuming this isnât official, and instead a civilian mock-up based on the controller size relative to the consoles, but:
If thatâs accurate, itâs a bit better. Itâs still not great but at least you can put it under your TV to hide it.
Edit : although, they are cheating by making that controller slightly taller in the slim imageâŚ
Few things of interest to me.
SSD expanded to 1Tb. So I guess they ditched the custom controller and just stuck in a stock drive to save some cost.
Essentially a direct replacement for the standard and digital model designed to maximise profit for Sony but with zero benefit passed on to their customers.
Puts the brakes on all of the fan chatter about the PS5 Pro being this massively specced super cheap console. With the slim approach they have taken they have directly signposted that any pro they release will follow the same strategy as PS4 Pro of releasing a pro console with the minimum spec. bump they can get away with in order to maximise profit.
I donât think itâs silly to talk about how Sony managed to bump the price of their new console and make it look smaller than it is. It is crazy that they are still not called out for their dubious schemes.
And I donât detect any in whatâs been posted to this thread so far. All seems pretty much justified opinion and reasonable discussion.
Most people here are equally critical of all platforms when it is justified.
Makes for more interesting discussion to pick up on some points you disagree with and give an alternative opinion rather than just dismissing out of hand.
I mean they are bashing it faar worse it on playstation centric forums. People are just confused i think, its a definitely a choiceâŚ
I think Sony will probably back track on the no stand included part. If only to put the breaks on the whole discorse(big maybe), but as much as I would like the believe people wonât buy this model in the same numbers as the PS5.
Sony knows their fan base and understand that whole mentality that a lot if people have that owning and item comes with some sort of prestige.
The system has got more expensive and it still looks terrible, should people not say that to not look like Xbox fanboys?
I mean its very civil here compared to everywhere else, are we supposed to pretend its not strange. What would you like here?
I suppose we should praise bad consumer practices? To be impartial?
Just to be clear, i do not care, but playstation fans care this is shit, not me.
I wonder how much PS5 Pro is going to cost because for some reason I think it will be $649USD. Thatâs def a no for me because I donât think I game enough where I can drop $1000CDN on a gaming console
$599. At least.
Yeah, I donât think itâs going to be cheap, and I donât think thereâs that big of a need of an upgrade compared to last gen. The main selling point of mid gen upgrade was to get 4k resolution since 4k tv became a common thing.
De facto price increase in Japan (again)
weak yen and LDP politics have caused
PS5 will continue to sell well.

edit: Japanese Amazon listing suggests that the Xbox Series X may be price hike in Japan at same time. A price increase for not new model would definitely give a sell worse sadly
Whatâs sad is still seeing PS âfansâ defend this.
They have already increased the price of the games, consoles, peripherals and their subscription and now they are doing it again with consoles.
Sony announced recently that PlayStation consoles make a profit (not a loss like most consoles), which will now only increase with essentially one SKU, less materials and a newly refined manufacturing process and they still have the cheek to charge more!!
I understand Xbox also increased their games to $70 and upped the price of GP but if this was Xbox the uproar would be 100x worse.
Well yeah, but us fanboys do call out Xbox and the express our disappointment whenever they do something that should be criticize.
Criticizing Sonyâs practices as well shouldnât be seen as blind loyalty to a brand. Because this crap right here could lead to Ms doing the same in the future and I sure as fuck am not going to like it.
You donât have to aknowledge every drive by post you know.
Youâre kidding right? If anything people have been quite tame here with their criticisms. If Microsoft bring out a more expensive slim this forum will rake them over the coals for it.
