…ence, which controls the mindshare, it is by all means a ps5 exclusive which Sony takes credits for. It isn’t fair but it is what happens. I’m not justifying it, just saying that it happens. Most would agree that a AAA game is a full priced game with a bigger budget than other smaller games. It’s not meaningless because AAA games usually generate much more buzz and popularity, which correlates to why Sony has more mindshare. Anyway, I’m just talking about it because I saw a lot of talk about some extreme ideas that Xbox should do to “punish” The Game awards and gaming media in general with things like “Xbox should leave TGA and make it own award show” or “Phil should block IGN from reviewing its games” which contribute nothing to any discussion. Just giving my 2 cents about this whole thing.

I agree that Microsoft should not be petty and all but they themselves are aware of the “bias” going on as evidenced by court documents. When we talk about bias, it goes beyond just mindshare from the PS4 era and it’s games, but nostalgic loyalty they( the outlets/reviewers) have from their childhood when they owned a PS1 or 2, which affect how they perceive systems outside that ecosystem( Nintendo is the same).

Yep. Including COD MW 3, Microsoft has released 17 first party games while Sony has released 13 games including Demon’s Souls this generation.

Actually this reminds me exactly of the first three years of PS4 - lackluster launch that was padded for years with third-party releases until they had their first big exclusive with Uncharted 4 (believe it or not, IGN actually wrote an article in 2015 talking about their pisspoor release schedule up to that point).

But yeah, it’s cute how everyone forgets Spidey 2 (and almost all of Sony’s PS5 releases) have suffered massive delays… and this year only saw a single Sony exclusive released, nary an article or mention on all those podcasts that supposedly care about those things….

It’s messed up to think about that not even a decade ago the sco (which I don’t think was a term used all that often) wasn’t driven for games industry of Xbox is doomed.

I think Jez (if it was Jesse on the Xbox era podcast I’m sorry lol) that was going into detail about how in the last few years gaming sites pivoted really needed to lean into Xbox is doomed or here is why what Xbox is doing is bad. As those articles get way more traction to sites then anything else in gaming for the last few years.

On topic. For the sake of competition (I don’t own any PlayStation console) I hope they have a few big surprises and not just money hat some more games like ff16.

As anyone that cares about their console doing some cool and sometimes very inventive games/ ideas competition does that. If the Xbox one truly took off I doubt we would have seen the money spent on gamepass or projects like pentitment / high fi rush give published.
