Sony could go BIG at TGA, and Xbox HAS to do the same AKA I'm going crazy without news

I can’t wait for like 6 months from now. The thirst should be over by then. We all know the games are coming. They will be shown when they are ready to be shown.

Microsoft invested late, Bethesda acquisition isn’t closed, we’re in month 10 of a worldwide pandemic. All things that have affected the timeline. That is the reality of the situation. People need to be patient and wait for what is, without doubt, right around the corner.

Considering that we are talking about 3 years of development time (and one year crippled by covid) a full fledged PS5 only sequel is highly unlikely IMO, either Jimbo was extremely optimistic about the release date and we will see the game at 2022 or the game is a smaller cross-gen project and will come out next year.

I have a feeling that it’s gonna be the latter, a smaller cross gen project that will wrap up the Norse era of the series.Hopefully we’ll learn more about the game at the Game Awards if the rumors are true.

to be honest, the premise of this thread is based on pure speculation. So nothing positive can come out of it.

Wo likes video game news (sprinkled with lots of blatant advertising) should look forward to the Game Awards.

Make a thread if the xbox content of the Game Awards disappoints you after the show. Then there can be some substance to this whole discussion.

So? You still got to play the game and enjoy it. What’s the issue?

It really seems you are. Again they delivered over 60 new games, one of the highest if not the highest average score of any publisher for the year, 2 90+ rated games (and one that end up being robbed and stayed short below that line). Plus games dating even 3 years back got upgraded for SX and are getting new content.

Are you really that starved of games to play? Because on their gamepass and 1st party offerings alone I played so much this year and couldn’t keep up with all the games I wanted.

And they have the biggest library of native SX games. And they have a greater library available through their subscription. With BC they likely have the biggest library of both consoles as well.

Not a coincidence that on launch day they had around 2500 games being played on the SX and SS. There’s so much to play and the customers that spend hundreds of dollars in these machines are playing them.

But what’s your point them? Because it really reads like you’d prefer if they just hold everything to have the big titles ready for the console launch just for the sake of gloating of a launch day lineup.

But there is. And literally in an amount that’s already almost humanly possible to keep it up.

I’m not implying you have an agenda. I’m saying that you are falling for straight up fud directed at Xbox that is making you feel like you are missing something even if you are enjoying the games and the console.

Xbox will have an optics problem no matter what they do for the longest time. They literally ran over everything else on announcements this year and was somehow not enough and the press/internet completely ignored that and focused on the few talking points they could to criticize.

If you are enjoying the console, enjoy the console. Stop listening to people that say you shouldn’t enjoy it because they didn’t hold of the 60 games they released this year to launch.

Saw this on TA: https://www.trueachievements.com/n44186/the-game-awards-xbox-announcement

Hopefully it’s more than Game Pass additions though I wonder how big the games are if they announce them on air for 45 million viewers.

I think this is all a misunderstanding and I’ll play peacemaker here because I love y’all.

I agreed with your post and I do agree that optics-wise, MS has some issues and that they can do some things to clear up those issues. One of them being releasing a gameplay trailer of a game that takes full advantage of its hardware. That alone would go a long way in addressing multiple concerns of people still skeptical.

For many people, the proof is in the pudding and in the gaming industry the pudding is literally a real-time gameplay demo.

Also I think responding with “just buy a PlayStation” is pretty dismissive and irrelevant because you didn’t really get into what Sony was doing, but rather you were focused on what MS was not doing.

But to respond to those replies with the “weirdos” comments is a bit juvenile, you have to admit.

Some people are tired of the doomposting and probably saw your stuff as that. From your perspective, these people need to be a bit more critical of what they care about and grow a thicker skin. Both sides are right. It’s all about hitting that balance, and it’s not easy. This forum constantly striving for that balance already makes this a great place to discuss gaming.

Lucas brought up a great point about MS accomplishing a whole lot and raising the bar, but I feel like you both missed out on the fact that you’re both talking about different bars. MS raised the bar as a hardware manufacturer creating a great machine with great services, and acquiring high-end exclusive content. Essentially announcing the acquisition of the best lemons and the best fruit-presser to make lemonade. What you’re talking about is a bar in regards to how MS is showcasing that lemonade for those that want to taste how good it is. You’re both right because you’re talking about 2 different bars, ie. Sets of standards on two different aspects of the industry.

Like all industries, half of this industry is not about the products you make, it’s all about the marketing. It’s all about the hype-game. So we look at The GAs and see it as an opportunity. MS made fantastic use of it last time. At present, their needs are different and what consumers need to see is not the same as what they needed to see 12 months ago.

The game awards aren’t E3, either. I found the XSX reveal to be relevant to the idea of celebrating developers. Showcasing Death Stranding wasn’t very relevant and seemed like an obvious commercial. But hey, maybe that’s what TGA to be all about now.

Anyways, I think we’re all largely in agreement here. MS has done a lot of great things, still struggle in some of the marketing, that in time we’re going to see the potential of MS Game Studios realized, that TGA represents a marketing and hype opportunity that can’t be passed up, and that regardless of what the competition is doing that it would be nice to see something from MS.

If I sound delirious in this monster of a post there’s a medical reason for that lol I’m taking the day off as I don’t feel too well

The consoles are out now, it’s time to paly games which is what I’ve been doing, if you are an actual gamer you should be doing the same and let the news hit as it hits instead of waiting and waiting.

also if we have not learned anything yet it’s that no matter what Xbox does people will complain, so it’s best just to not pay attention to that crap.

I have a feeling a lot of sony fans going to be disappointed after the Game Awards. Kojima already denied any involvement with Silent Hill. David Hayter stated he is not in the rumored Metal Gear Solid Remake if there is any remake and Toyama (Silent Hill) just left Sony. So even if those games turn out to be real, they are not going to be the games people wish for.

I fear people are treating the TGAs as this years E3, primarily because the lack of any major events this year have left people wanting

I actively keep away from most other message boards and especially twitter due to all the xbox negativity that seems to spread on there, so I dont know what these rumours of TGAs going big for Sony are, besides the Moores Law is dead rumours of MGS and Silent Hill, but Ive heard this so many times before, back when Sony used to do E3 shows and there was some illusion of a competition between the two brands then, the speculations were always Sonys gonna bring it big, we’ve gonna get Bloodborne 2, Tlou 2, Twisted Metal Reboot, New Crash exclusive to PS, Ape Escape, all that bollocks, while Xbox was only gonna show Halo Gears and a new Forza, and yeah Sony had big announcements in 2015 and 2016, the 2 years that got the reputation, but when 2017 rolled around the majority of Sony fans were underwhelmed that the show mainly consisted of VR and indie titles, and some trailers for preannounced games, and 2018 was much better, yet both years youd get people arguing sony ‘won e3’. Sony usually has high expectations, doesnt mean anything’s coming from then

Well, with the news that Project Athia has a TWO YEAR exclusivity tied to it for PS5, I expect everything to start ramping up. Hopefully FFVIIR is announced soon for PC/XBox or I just bought the wrong box. I mean, damn, Sony should have just bought SE. On the bright side, I now expect all Zenimax titles to be exclusive in retaliation. TGA’s could be interesting, on both sides.

Project Athia, FFXVI, FFVIIR, and Kena better not ALL be two year deals

Phil has to go big regardless what Sony does if he wants more gamepass subscriptions, Phil once said he cant see future where he doesn’t announce a new game and so far he hasn’t lived up to it.

Yeah he has, there was the july showcase where they announced 5 new games. I don’t think there were any other show after that quote, so he still has to miss that mark.

Technically Gamescom, but those were glorified ads.

They announced Age of Empires 3 Definitive Edition at Gamescom

There’s no Game Pass games announced after December 10th (Game Awards), pretty confident we’ll get something announced there. My best bet would be a big list of 3rd party games and new games (Gears 5 story DLC), maybe some stealth drops (Tunic would be cool, Cuphead DLC, …).

I’m expecting a new Psychonauts 2 trailer with a release date or window in Spring 2021.

They revealed Series X and Hellblade 2 last year so who knows what they could show. I’d love to see a new 1st party game announced (Initiative, Compulsion,…), maybe Wolfenstein 3 with a little “Only on Xbox consoles, Windows 10 and Android”?

Hopefully it will be good!

Dont forget he also cancel an event in may or June which lead up to that July showcase plus were that XO event we were supposed to be getting which tells me that they weren’t ready to announce a new game and slotted the announcement to the VGAs.

I thought that was announced before, no? If not, I concede my point.

That was at gamescom, don’t know if there ever was an announcement prior.

If Xbox shows something cool then I’ll be happy if they don’t then I won’t be sad because I’m honestly not expecting much from Xbox until next year’s “E3” I’m interested in seeing more of the next Dragon Age though.

The only way I am going to be disappointed is if Gears DLS the only thing we see from Xbox
