Sony buying Bungie for $3.6 billion, Destiny 2 and future projects will remain multiplatform

The content War is real, excited to see what Xbox does next

I like it for the following reasons:

  • Bungie maximizes their price
  • Sony has Bungie to help them make FPS games with good controls
  • Future Bungie games are explicitly said to stay multiplat
  • I can watch as people flip flop to supporting acquisitions and identify hypocrites more easily

I think Xbox is going after Take Two, EA, or Sega. Large scale publishers

They aren’t going to spend 3.6 billion on one game/studio which costs half as Bethesda

I don’t expect Multiplatform bungie games once Destiny 2 is finished.

Daylight Robbery right there lmao.

Yep. Once the purchase goes through Xbox will have an ungodly amount of games that just constantly churn money.

makes sense. Microsoft has less to gain from Bungie than Sony would.

I want SEGA

They obviously didnt want to lose Bungie but they clearly didnt care enough to outbid Sony

and I don’t blame them, 3.6b is a rip off

Interesting. Especially with Phil having said that MS probably didn’t need to let Bungie go.

True!

I don’t think Sony can really help on the fps games with good controls department lol.

ngl whenever I thought about Xbox + Bungie I thought it’d only ever be for a ā€œwantā€ romantically in a way, not a need or strategic effort.

Yeah, lol, wrong quote.

Go buy SE now Phil….

There’s a FAQ from Bungie that explicitly says they will be. Probably part of the reason MSFT didn’t want to overpay for them.

Nah fam F SE. Sony can have them. They can have Konami too.

Phil go get Sega + Capcom and we good.

Imagine what losing Activision and Blizzard feels like then.
