The feel here is “we cant let xbox take another piece of the FPS market from us” one. Plus this helps Bungie in their transmedia projects as @Ruthwik_Rao says.

You are not wrong there. A month ago this would have probably caused a meltdown on this forum but now it is more like “cool.”
Destiny is in a dire state… the only way is up lol
All true. I’m an Xbox and PlayStation gamer and don’t care about all those other companies. I’m not into Nintendo either but I still respect them because if not for them, I wouldn’t be playing what im playing today so I don’t want to see anything bad happen to Nintendo. Maybe all three should join forces. lol
Definitely interesting.
2022 is going to be fucking awesome and insane at the same time!!!
pretty much lmao
It is funny because when Xbox bought Actvision, I was talking with a friend that Bungie is the only big FPS studio outside EA and Xbox, and should be a great move if Sony acquires them.
Now there is no big studio doing FPS outside EA/Xbox/PS Studios, am I right?
PS: Expecting a Oni Remake and Oni 2 to PS5
In PS fans’ mind, Destiny’s gameplay is above everything Xbox have, I’m pretty sure.
I actually think Destiny will be unwound after Matter comes out and it is a hit.
It is coming up to 10 years of Destiny, which is a long time, and I know Bungie is big but I think even they will struggle to keep 2 GaaS games going.
Not going to lie this feels a little bit like a gut punch, however I also think this was a genius acquisition on Sony’s part and a great match for what PlayStation needs.
I don’t play on Playstation but am kind of happy. Never liked Bungie and gives more wiggle room for Microsoft to buy more
Not only that but all Activision Blizzard IPs are massive cash cows. Even if they remain the same with improved working conditions. They money pouring in is guaranteed like Minecraft. MS is playing smartly.
Im sure many agree and that’s fine
But how many casuals are picking Destiny over CoD…
Bungie at Xbox would had been a headache especially with Halo. Im sure xbox feels good with what they have in the market right now regarding FPS.
So au revoir shoshana.
Half of what Zenimax cost for……1 IP.
LOL ok….
A few things.
1-Colin and the Sony fanboys will spin this one way or another ‘‘Sony wAs OnlY dOiNg OrgAnIc AcqUisItiOns uNtIL Ms PusHeD thEm tO thIs’’. Bet you’ll be seeing a lot of this spin.
2-This is super funny, they paid 4B nearly for what ? 1 amazing studio sure but games will still come to Xbox ? hahaha. Talk about paying a lot for getting little in return. They pretty much screwed themselves over here and gave MS more leeway into further acquisitions.
3-Bungie is Phils baby. I bet he’s PISSED at this. A nice Phil gave us Bethesda, Activision Blizzard. A pissed Phil should scare them lol. Phil is probably Destiny’s biggest fanboy. I’m sure he’s not gonna be pleased when their future titles gonna arrive at Xbox a year or more later.
4-Not fussed about this acquisition, but I always felt Bungie was MS’ baby. They truly became Bungie under them. To see them go with the competitive platform, I know it’s business, but still hurts a little bit. Phil won’t forget this day lol.
On the bright side for Sony. Now they have a GOAT studio in terms of gunplay/MP shooter. That’s a lot of valuable knowledge that their other studios will learn from. Destiny was mediocre but gunplay was second to none. It’s a tough genre to make a quality game in and they made many bad decisions, but it still was a MASSIVE success early on. I feel like people might feel differently about Bungie 10 years from now.
Good. The more acquisitions Sony does the harder it will be for regulators to argue against the AB purchase.
lol tell that to xbox who was also in bidding war these mean nothing to MS/Xbox
Matter got to be some mega hit ip, or destiny 3 better be like insanely good. 2.2 billion tops is what they were probably worth.
