So what's up with the Series X underperforming on launch?

While this is probably true its still a bad look for the Series X right now. Hope they get this resolved soon and not have to wait 2-3 years to really see what the XsX is capable of

I agree but at the same time, my expectations are low now especially when it’s still cross-gen territory. Once 2022 hits, then I will be expecting more.

I hope everyone takes a deep breath. First let’s see what happens over the next 2 months before projecting it out 2 years. lol

Ah, yeah, that was indeed something I inferred from previous games. X settings were a mix of medium and low with some even lower than low on PC.

Yep still the gen just kicked off and already Xbox is fking up left and right, between the vague comments on Bethesda and now with this performance difference its no wonder the PS5 is already significantly outselling the Series X

It feels like the Xbox is the brand always most associated with disappointment.

I think the casual gamers not going to be bothered by a few frame drops and the odd tear. Its definitely a development issue. But were in a Pandemic. This maybe a Xbox Forum as we love the system more than the competition ( I say that as someone excited to pick up my PS5 tomorrow morning in the UK) but nobody is going notice it but the hardcore who watch DF etc. This is not a fanboy bias but a realistic one. 2020 surely doesn’t matter which console is best.

Last gen it was all about the GDDR5 in the PS4, now every man and his dog are timing loading screens. Both systems are amazing lets just enjoy them. They are next gen amazing systems.

It’s been a week

Chill. It’s going to be a long six-to-eight years. It’s gonna have it’s up and downs for everybody on every platform.

Xbox hasn’t had any ups and has only had downs

If its going to be six to eight years before Xbox starts showing its competence then the Xbox brand won’t be around in six to eight years at least as a console…no one is going to wait six to eight years for leadership to get their heads out of their ass

Its mind boggling how Phil and 343i saw that demo and said

“you know what this looks good lets show this”

No launch games could of been overlooked if the multiplats were at least better with Aaron Greenberg and co touting for a year about how much powerful the console is, oh look the only console that has full RDNA2

What a joke…

I don’t really see Microsoft fucking up left and right. The Bethesda stuff quite honestly they should all just shut the hell up until the deal is legally finalized and go from there.

Performance, depends on the game. I’m currently watching an interview between Game On Daily and David Springate from Dirt 5, he says specifically that they while DirectX RT, Mesh Shaders, Variable Rate Shading and Sampler Feedback Streaming available to use now, they don’t use Mesh Shaders or SFS currently but they could end up being patched in later on as it is possible but not guaranteed or that they will actually do so. Only that it’s possible. They are doing RT for PC. Don’t know about Xbox Series X/S. They are currently using VRS for the XSX/XSS versions.

For PS5, David couldn’t speak on anything that Sony hasn’t already talked about publicly as he’s still under NDA. For me, that says a lot.

Xbox is simply “behind” because Microsoft decided to wait for the full RDNA 2 feature set to be final so they could implement it all so while it’s disappointing now, I prefer that disappointment now as opposed to years down the line.

Too many variables for me to go nuts with when it comes to launching a new console and since Microsoft’s tools are behind Sony’s, it’s simply a case of what it is. We can’t go based on what we want it to be or would like it to be. It’s simply is what it is.

Sales wise, I know Microsoft is having consoles around Black Friday for pretty much every retailer as is Sony. I wouldn’t be surprised if PS5 outsells Xbox Series X/S and in fact, it should as PlayStation is a worldwide brand and Xbox isn’t. A lot of regions and territories simply don’t care about Xbox regardless of what they do.

Performance wise, WD Legion seems equal on both PS5 and XSX. The Ray Tracing looks great and in some aspects better in general than Miles Morales does. Valhalla is somewhat disappointing but for me personally, the game isn’t using the RDNA 2 features and while overall, PS5 is clearly better, every aspect is minimal plus PS5 has game breaking issues that XSX doesn’t have.

I easily prefer issues now when it all makes sense and is going to happen regardless as opposed to years from now. Plus, having all those RDNA 2 features where as Sony doesn’t will definitely make a massive difference down the line especially once cross-gen ends.

So basically, underwhelming? Yes. Disappointing? Yes. Concerning? NOPE.

You know, you could just buy a PS 5. There is no shame in that. If you feel it is the better system and a minute graphical difference bothers you that much. Or if your worried you’re spending too much money, and are thus a bit unsure? That’s okay too, you can just wait a while. With new generations new games are slim anyway.

Or if you just want to be a part of the winning team, which I think is a bit foolish, but you also just wait who comes out on top.

Please relax, you’re giving yourself a heart attack here. Or at the least it’s not good for you. Mentally and physically.

Exactly how I feel. Not “doomsaying” just disappointed.

He didn’t mention 1X settings either. So I dont know what you are going on about. Just looking at Valhalla on the series X is looks about on par with the PC “high” preset. So the seriesX is performing about on par with a 5700xt.

Oh dear.

Xbox - largest first party studio line up. Buying Bethesda Releasing the most powerful and the cheapest console and both being absolutely great and I know because I own them. Selling out everywhere with record sales numbers…

But all downs and no ups…you really should get out into the sunshine and stop taking your whole position from what console warriors online think.
