Yeah you’re probably right, I do wonder how Gears will look even if it is a faster game.
Ah yes, I had the dashboard ads for a while. I’m pretty sure the splash screen was released to everyone on Friday which seemed like odd timing IMO.
Rolled credits after 8 hours and can probably attribute an hour to messing with photo mode and just standing around looking at the scenery! Story-wise, whilst the big reveals probably aren’t as impactful as the ones in Sacrifice, I think what’s here is still pretty good. It took me a while to understand what was happening, but upon meeting the 3rd companion, it all began to click into place nicely.
Overall, I’d give this an 8.5 and will jump straight back in for another playthrough. Also, make sure you watch the Psychosis feature under the extras.
This section reminded me of the movie The Descent… absolutely loved this part …this game is something else
I absolutely intend to play this game again with the different narrator options that are unlocked when beating the game. As others have said, I also found it refreshing to have a different game experience than the typical ones even if I like many of those “expected” experiences too.
Many games these days have no pre rendered scenes, There can still be cutscene modes with higher fidelity models and lighting. Hellblade 100% does this, it doesn’t mean that the regular gameplay models are bad, but when you have a full screen of just a face, why not go even further with the model in that instance?
Currently on chapter 4; playtime of 6 hours. Not sure if I am just playing this way too slowly but I heard a lot of people say in review it took them 5 hours to beat. Makes me think people just sprant through the game to beat it rather than “experience” it
Same. I’m pretty sure NT would list it as one of their influences if asked.
Dude, spoilers.
Definitely
Rolled credits. Fantastic game! Really an amazing, and exhausting, experience. 10/10 indeed.
I clocked in at 11 hours for my first playthrough. I don’t know what these 5 hour playthroughs look like but it must be one hell of a rushed experience. Tsk tsk.
5-6 hours is pretty in line with my playthrough. Admittedly I don’t tend to care much for narrative focused third person action adventure games unless there is a heavy puzzle emphasis. So I ended up playing it mostly for the pretty graphics.
I can’t wrap my head around that short time haha. I was fully immersed though and didn’t treat it like a game-game.
That’s fair enough. My main experience was ‘Oooh that’s pretty!’
Yeah, I didn’t think I would get blown away by graphics ever again but this sure did.
Considering the quality of what’s on display I can almost understand it. I have yet to see anything that even comes close to it graphically, the level of craftsmanship on display is on a level that’s unmatched right now anywhere else and wasn’t done by a 2000 strong team like something like Last of Us 2
Ah no, I finished at 11 hours. I can’t wrap my head around some of the shorter completion times people are reporting.
The game not being longer than it is, I fully understand. It was a perfect length.
I’m at chapter 5 and just grabbed the last collectible and I must have 5h played so far. I haven’t really played around with photo mode though. I can see people just running through the whole thing and skipping everything just to see the story though but it’s so well crafted that I feel like it’s best to take your time with that game.
Just finished the game and thought everything was better than the first game. But the fire breathing enemies i hated. Had way too hard of a time dodging their attacks. But looking forward to what they cook up next. Finished missing 3 of the achievements. One I’ll get tomorrow for rewards and the last 2 being collectables which i got quite a bit of them but missing a couple of each.
