Senua's Saga: Hellblade II | Review

And this is precisely why I love this game. It’s a breath of fresh air and nice to have different styles of gameplay.

Not everything has to be a shooty shooty bang bang type of game. We have plenty of those.

I don’t think anyone is suggesting it’s going to move or sell consoles though.

This is exactly what I mean by game journalism been totally amateurish

There’s no structure to how to review games.

It’s just a jumped up fan reeling off cliches trying to sound clever on a platform. No objectivity and unable to judge it on its merits

Instead just bases everything off their own preferences

I just saw a TV ad for it in the UK!

Comedy Central - guessing it has to be after the watershed as it’s an 18

Imo, it’s actually a better game about violence than Last of Us Part 2 is, because of this simplistic gameplay.

I could be wrong, as I’m still early in the game, but I feel like you’re forced into combat most of the time and it doesn’t feel like it’s fun or some kind of skill you need to get right to beat the game. I think it’s on purpose. I would go as far as saying that Hellblade 2 isn’t even a game because a game gives you options.

I beat it and got all achievements too.

I enjoyed it, I can see why some people don’t like it though.

Its more of a Interactive movie than a game if we are being honest.

Just wrapped it up now, what a phenomenal game! IMO it was better in every single way than the original. Even the (heavily critised) puzzles and combat were much better. I actually quite liked the variety in the puzzles this time too.

It’s absolutely unbelievable they managed to pull off such a striking game in just 4-5 years, I can’t wait to see what they do next.

If anything it just makes me wish Xbox had more first party studios that concentrated on narrative adventures like this so we don’t have to wait so long. Hopefully Elsewhere might be one of those.

It also sounds like the studio might be taking Q&A’s soon: https://x.com/NinjaTheory/status/1794141581294891377?t=f2_1LWcvgkoE8sXuxl8ONA&s=19

Yep it seems it was pushed out to everyone Friday evening, I had it when I logged on. Better late than never I guess.

One thing I think most would agree with is their was no visual downgrade, holy crap this game looks better then any other non real media I’ve ever witnessed.

This game is like Ryse to me, I loved Ryse BTW and felt it got the brunt of crap due to fanboys.

I’ve had it on mine since a week or so before release…

I’m playing it on PC and graphically… holy fuck I’m going to need a new graphics card in the near future if this is what Unreal 5 brings to the party…

RTX3070ti on Medium settings at 1440p with DLSS and I’m hitting mid 60s to low 70 framerate…

I’m genuinely excited to see where gaming goes in the next generation graphically.

Interesting, are you referring to the dashboard ads or the full screen splash ad?

GOD DAMN THIS GAME LOOKS INSANE. THIS IS SOOOO FAR ABOVE AND BEYOND ANYTHING WE’VE SEEN BEFORE!

Feels like a gen 10 game. This is and will be the best looking game of this gen!

100%

Since HB2 has been released all I have seen on X is how Horizon Forbidden West ‘still looks better’ (with RT on PC Max settings).

Personally I still don’t think I’ve seen anything look as good as HB2. I don’t want to admit how many times it tricked me where the cutscenes ended and the gameplay started .

Because there are no cut scenes. Everything is rendered. The user does not have control during story moments.

Dashboard ads - had pre-install ones since it became available to do so, then play ones since release.

Admittedly only had the splash screen in the last couple of days

Over saturated Flintstones with gadgets and robo dinos looks better? RT or no RT with this stupid/messy looking art direction FW is not even in the same ballpark as HB2 and other actually good looking games. :stuck_out_tongue:

HB2 is the current visual/presentation benchmark for the industry either people like it or not and it will probably stay that way till the end of the generation so they better deal with it. :man_shrugging:

Forbidden West is a pretty PS4 game running on PS5. Hellblade II is a next gen game. It looks so good Insomniac already confirmed Wolverine, releasing 2.5 years later, wont look as good.
