Senua's Saga: Hellblade II | Review

Just beat the game it is just about how I felt about the first game great graphics and audio, good story and the puzzle were better to me but the combat just doesn’t do it for me. Overall solid experience for me and I would recommend a playthrough 7.5 as a score

I ve read many complaints about the combat but I personally like it. Yes, It is simple but, I see it as a dance with your enemy, a visceral one. Animations are phenomenal.

Forza does not look pretty to me after playing this game.

The game is great but ending is just meh. Maybe there is content cut?

Original had way better ending.

And where is this Gaint in the game from the trailer?

Weirdly, PushSquare are actually praising Hellblade 2 much more than their sister site PureXbox…

(Don’t bother with the comments though, usual console war shit)

I think it’s just a concept from the earlier trailer - he’s kinda ‘around’ in the storm sequence, kinda.

Loving the game, but man is it an exhausting experience a couple of minutes per session is the most I can handle before needing to unwind. So, I’m working my way through the game and stopping whenever a calmer moment begins.

I’ve just played for another 2 hours … shit my anxiety is though the roof :joy::flushed::scream:

Yeah this is the commentary I absolutely understand. Not a game to play to unwind!

Holy mother of God, I’m not controlling a videogame character, I’m controlling a real person.

How the hell do I post screenshots in here?? This game is insane.

Use the Xbox app, One Drive or a USB key directly plug into your console. Look in the down right corner for uploading in the posting window.

Use spoiler though pls.

Yep, I’m doing the same. I’ll see when I get to the end, but currently, I doubt I’d want this to stretch too much beyond its current playtime!

Spoiler for first half hour (ish) of game

One early moment that got me was the bit where you crawl under the boat to save the people crying in there and once in there the voices laugh because its empty except for bodies. Anxiety through the roof at that point. Enjoyment would be the wrong word but i feel compelled to keep playing.

I can see why people wouldn’t enjoy it. It’s extremely ‘curated’, and the gameplay is not very deep (and it’s genuinely unpleasant).

That said, it’s a technical marvel, and if you like what they’re going for, it’s very impressive.

I’m glad we get games like this and that we get games people ‘expect’ - i.e. open world RPG-lite, maybe a loot quality category, a dozen sidequests a mile, ‘rich’ combat etc etc etc. Gaming is so fucking hidebound still. Books, film… all other forms of art left these concerns behind long, long ago.

Yep it’s definitely quite full-on to play, and I can understand it not being for everyone.

My issue with some reviewers has been they’ve disliked it for that reason but then loved Last of Us Pt 2 which was misery porn at its worst - and others a definite anti-Xbox vibe has arisen or it’s been given to the wrong reviewer (someone who loves Viva Pinata and Rabbids may not love it for example :stuck_out_tongue: )

It’s definitely art - I’ve never felt so on edge yet so driven in a game, and it feels like an experience well beyond simple gaming

I’m waiting for someone to say ‘the game needed to be more traditional’, and then for someone to say ‘what, like Gears, Forza, Halo?’

Taking my time. Finished chapter 4 last night. Just absolutely amazing. Game looks absolute insane but there are times where it elevates further and I can’t believe this is all real time. The lighting in particular is incredible.

And hereby won’t post ElAnalistaDebits tweets anymore, it clearly was nonsense. My bad on that!
