Senua's Saga: Hellblade II | Preview Round Up

They haven’t been next-gen only with a single game yet. They held back PS4 versions of games at the launch of the PS5 and then just started putting them out afterward. Starfield was heavy on the simulations, Redfall was heavy with the be anywhere open world online only thing and a studio not experienced in making that work (see gotham knights), and hellblade is pushing graphics as far as they can seemingly go.

Spiderman 2 is first party and ff7 rebirth offers a 60fps mode too as does rise of ronin(which does look shit) Ill agree with starfield as its too big. Redfall was poorly designed as evident the way it was.

My point is hellblade 2 is locked at 30 because they dont want to downgrade the visuals

Its a linear action game that could easilt run at 60 but would have to have huge graphical cutbacks. Thats my point.

If this game was leas cinematic but more action driven 60fps would have been mandated.

I guess that’s where the Pro will come in handy. If we go by the rumors about it, 60fps is definitely what they are aiming for. It remains to be seen if it really will, with no or little cutbacks.

So… anyone interested in the actual game or are we doomed to eternal discussions about muh fps, muh rays and muh rez?

Yes and… yes. I am extremely excited for it, might want to do a full day long playthrough at launch if the timing works.

I am but I normally ignore previews lol. I had a hard time with the first game though, should revisit it in preparation. Or the game will just end up a fancy tech demo for me.

Haha. Yeah it’s going to be something else… The first one was allready immersive af, this will probably be an incredible experience.

Really looking forward to it. I was a bit sceptic about the game length at first but now I think it will probably be perfect for what it is.

I really liked the first game, why did you have a hard time with it?

Those games aren’t as graphically intensive as this on console, and the devs don’t want to downgrade the graphics for a 60FPS mode, as it they believe it would be too detrimental for their vision of the game. Simple.

I probably needed to give it more time, I think I probably didn’t play it for more than 30 minutes or so. Probably not even enough time to get used to the combat lol.

So im right. Their vision is about the cinematics and how the game looks

If thats the case fine. Their decision. Ultimately its dissapointing but at least i know what kind of game to expect. Basically the first but all the cinematics ans graphics turned up to an 11.

Given the first game… what did you all expect. They weren’t exactly hiding their intentions.

Hopefully they modelled in a 4/10 from Metro into that prediction.

I’m interested in the game and will play it via Game Pass day one but im more hyped for Indiana Jones, Avowed and Towerborne in that order. Of course, im not the biggest Hellblade fan. Played it day one on PS4 Pro and for me, it was an 8.0/10 overall with the visuals/audio being a 9 and gameplay/story being a 7. I personally prefer Enslaved: Odyssey to the West more than any other Ninja Theory game.

I’m really looking forward to it. Initially, the first one didn’t grab me, but it has a great way of sticking in your head, and I came back to it and loved it. It always felt like a game that would flourish under less budget restrictions.

From the previews, it looks to retain the heart and soul of the first, which will be interesting as some people seem to be expecting GOW (which it very much isn’t).

I’m looking forward to it. I liked the first one, even the puzzles. Everything from the previews sounds nice :+1:

I’ve been waiting patiently for this game and can’t wait to play it!

It looks and sounds amazing. It being 30fps shouldn’t detract anyone from enjoying this masterpiece. It’s a slower paced game so I don’t think it would make much of a difference anyway.

Playing this game at night with a headset is really going to be something.

Honestly I think that’s about as far as I got into the first as well. The fighting just didn’t click for me and was frustrating so I stopped. But I’ve been expecting to not bother with this one even though it’s pretty and I love the music and concept of it.

Things like this are getting REALLY tiring, we’ve known it is 30 for a bit now on consoles it should be no surprise.

It seems the Media and Fanboys REALLY want their to always be a gotcha with anything Xbox related and they have no issues pushing those agenda’s to make sure Xbox never gets completely positive press because that generates more clicks from Sony and Xbox fans. Sony fans LOVE reading about Xbox doom and Xbox fans get bent out of shape about it, either way it creates noise and clicks.

Shit is plain as day and gets fucking old. Xbox fans I implore you, ignore the bullshit, stay off twitter, play games and enjoy the Xbox eco system and stop thinking one day Xbox will be #1 in anything. Enjoy the games and live life away from Fanboy noise.

It’s bad enough having to ignore general gaming sites and forums but when Xbox fans themselves on an Xbox related site are so doom and gloom and insufferable it gets to the point where you have to second guess spending ANY time on the internet talking about games.

The game looks amazing it is getting high praise right now and it will be on game pass. This is a no brainer to play. Stop expecting EVERY game to change the perception of Xbox, it is not and most likely the perception will NEVER change. You can still play the games though.

I haven’t (yet) played the first one, but it’s my understanding that mental health plays an important part. Apparently Ninja Theory wanted to make sure they got it right and to that end enlisted the help of some professionals. And:

We’d like to invite you to hear more about this unique partnership and journey into the mind of Senua in a special live event on Tuesday April 9. This collaboration between Ninja Theory and Cambridge Neuroscience will explore the perspectives of both those who have experienced psychosis, and those who work to study and treat it. You will also hear from the Ninja Theory team who will expand upon how we applied these learnings to our games.

That’s from Xbox Wire. Click through for more info and how to watch it:
