This is a net good for both companies but as a customer I’m not sure what to expect.
Nothing major in the short term I imagine but a closer relationship with Sega is never a bad thing
At the bare minimum, it will only make it easier for things like game pass deals and more collaborations like AoE4
People jumping into this thinking its leading to an acquisition are way off the mark but people treating it as nothing arent being logical either

Even outside of Atlus there are still sometimes misses. Sakura Wars didn’t come (wanted to play this, even though it’s apparently mediocre), when Valkyria Chronicles 4 was coming out, they ported VC1 to Switch, but not Xbox (it was on PC game pass though), Virtua Fighter 5 remaster skipped Xbox because of a possible Sony moneyhat (meaning Sega isn’t immune to it), and I believe Sega makes the Hatsune Miku games… Not sure if they even have a place on Xbox, but they skip it nonetheless (they seem like fun rhythm games though I am not a Miku fan at all lol). I may have missed a couple things as well.

Atlus are the big misses, even Bandai Namco and Capcom sometimes skips Xbox with small games, but nothing is so bare as Xbox-Atlus relationship, even FF (the biggest moneyhats target) is more represented. XD
I expect this deal will lead to Persona&Co. on Xbox.

Microsoft has nothing to do with Xbox everyone knows that.

I talked about this a little bit on Boom’s podcast and will speak about it on ours this week, but this feels like more than what many are trying to write it off as.
This feels like another step towards something more.
First we had/have the Game Pass deal(s), now we have this. Like, it just feels to me like something is building here.

Gamedev is a big part of Xbox with Game Stack, Havok, Simplygon and PlayFab. Making deals for this stuff and underlying Azure technologies obviously belongs to Xbox.

Sure, but that’s just a feeling, right? I’m not sure it makes sense to jump to conclusions when Microsoft wants to make these kinds of deals with everyone.

Wow. Exciting times. I know insiders have hyped stuff before that ended up being nothing but this feels different. Especially with Sarah Bond announcing that she is leading this partnership. I think they are going to hold off on anything major next week so Forza gets all the attention. But after that who knows.

Could be. I feel there isn’t nothing more on the cards other than what was announced otherwise they would have mentioned it to their shareholders. But these things can lead to other things, so it is a wait and see I guess.
How could Skullzi know secret stuff about a SEGA MS partnership, come on, some of these insiders are really unbelievable.

I would say though that it is quite possible that there’s already been action within microsoft/Sega studios that Skullzi is aware of. It’s not like the two companies have never worked together, they’re already close.
