[PLEASE READ STAFF POST] Microsoft says they have committed to Sony that they will keep Call of Duty and other titles on Playstation "beyond the existing agreement and into the future so that Sony fans can continue to enjoy the games they love."

Blanket, not blank

And like I said, I’m talking about gifs being posted. What am I supposed to do, discuss the quality of them? All I can do is see what the person posting them is trying to convey and notice how many there are in this thread. Seems like people are upset about this. Why is that? Doesn’t effect what they can play on Xbox in any way

Hence, feels kinda console warish. Sorry me saying that rubbed you so raw, man

Is Steve Ballmer back in charge? What a waste of 70 billion. Good God.

This was not entirely unexpected, disappointing but not unexpected.

This whole acquisition is a big meh, as I’ve said from the start, for me as an Xbox player. I don’t really care about any of the acquired franchises so Day 1 on Game Pass does very little. The only advantages I could see was the possible benefits Xbox could get by making some big games exclusive and by that grow the platform, as well as new stuff from some of the studios. This could benefit me as Xbox would finally become “too big to ignore” in regards to moneyhats and other bs, as well as leading to more investments overall when the platform grows.

The real issue is that to me, this humongous acquisition probably throws a wrench into some of the acquisitions I would like them to actually pursue with developers I find much more interesting. Now that seems even more of a waste than it allready did.

I’d be fine with this if Sony was a good guy as well but while my PS friends will play CoD the same day as me on their platform of choice I will still be waiting to play FF7R, KOTOR (and who knows what else) on my platform of choice.

One would say that maybe Sony will stop these deals…I guess we will see about that.

xbox has 23 studios and doesnt have access to acti/blizz games on gamepass: everything is ok.

xbox has 35+ studios, everything from acti-blizz on GP, and new IP could be exclusoves: everyone panic!

i swear some people still have PTSD from early xbone era, and think xbox is one decision from closing.

xbox is in the best place it has ever been, we have 22 exclusive studios (missing mojang) and its best selling xbox console

Exclusive, money hat, publishing deal… isn’t it basically the same with different colours :man_shrugging:

I am about to do an info-graph about the IPs PS fans lost access to and the IPs Xbox fans lost access to.

and I guarantee you PS exclusive IPs combined will dwarf Xbox exclusive IPs combined, 2 to 1, in terms of sales number, general appeal, and rating scores.

some of you here, want people to look at the amount of projects Xbox is doing, as if all of them will turn out to be Gears, Forza, or even Halo-like in appeal and popularity.

gentle-reminder: tomorrow drops CrossFire-X, the first Xbox exclusive this year. where’s MS marketing? oh yes, they know it’s gonna flop! I can’t bear the idea that in the near future that projects we had hope in like Project-Dragon and Kojima-hypothetical-game turn out to be failures, while PS enjoys the success on the back of proven IPs like SpiderMan, Wolverine, Final Fantasy and KOTOR!

please stop shaming people for being upset/worried about this, because it’s not the first time MS has dug their own grave. and I am not talking about the gaming sector specifically here.

Well, I’m sure you maintain the ability to read… there’s been plenty of explanations to why people are critical.

I mean you clearly just want to engage in patronization (shock horror) in bad faith… “rubbed me you raw”… yeah, there’s no point engaging.

Only logical thing coming from Xbox now is ‘Gamepass’

Everything else won’t make sense

From a consumer’s perspective it doesn’t matter whether the game is exclusive because of a money hat or an acquisition, they’re only affected by the game not being on their platform.

Until we can play games like Final Fantasy 7 Remake, Spider Man, Street Fighter V etc on Xbox. This arrangement should be unacceptable to Xbox supporters.

Kind of an aside, but Persona 5 not on Xbox (or Nintendo) is an Atlus thing, not a Sony moneyhat thing.

Again, we don’t know that MS haven’t leveraged this, it’d be foolish to think they aren’t getting Sony to do anything in return.

Yall are forgetting that people aren’t just going to soley switch because of marketing and gamepass. Microsoft had the marketing in the 360 gen and sony still managed in the end not lose any market share. Xbox marketing is still piss poor and have shown no improvement. Their name will always be bigger than Microsoft globally and if they’re friends won’t switch consoles they’ll likely stay where they play and just cough up the money. When I went to see spiderman people behind me were saying xbox needs to catch up still and thats the general mindset of the public. Sonys and Nintendo brand will carry itself alone that’s not going to work for xbox

Gifs of being angry or disappointed and you make the conclusion that those relate to console warring? That’s what I would call a reach to be honest. Maybe angry or disappointed because we have no idea what Xbox/we got in return for this? We can all speculate that Phil asked Sony to cease the money hatting, but nobody knows.

Meanwhile we likely won’t ever see FF again on Xbox, as per Geoff Keighley we know some big deals are in place and let us not forget that Sony managed to get two timed exclusives from Bethesda and were close with Starfield too. It’s possible that Phil did use CoD as leverage but we will just have to wait and see.

I guess we all see different things in these GIFs.

If Sony continues with it, and MS did not bother asking them to slow down or stop with it… I’d see that as a big misstep by MS for sure. But i guess it’s also possible that they did ask this and Sony just refused and for reasons this wasn’t enough for MS to pull off CoD off of PS. No way of knowing for us.

I was hoping for this so much when the ABK news broke, but it’s probably not a realistic expectation, I guess it doesn’t work like that.

To be honest, what Blizzard games are you expecting beyond Overwatch and Diablo to be multiplatform? WoW does not count as it is not even on console lol.

Even Klobs can understand our indignation while others here are super smart about everything, knowing everything all the time, truly experts, embarrassing really.

People need to be able to understand the other side of the coin sometimes.

Nice post from him.

People that treat console like sports teams are just fucking silly as shit. Gaming is THE HOBBY not corporate cheer leading, I’m getting these games day one on Gamepass, Acti/Blizzard devs will now not be just COD support studios and will be able to make whatever they want and the horrible culture will get cleaned up.

There is a lot to like about this deal, who gives a flying fuck what games end up on which pieces of plastic?

I REALLY like games but having to deal with “Gamers” is probably the worst part of gaming. I wish more people would just STFU and play games instead of inventing wars involving plastic boxes.
