I’m disappointed that Xbox isn’t going for the kill. It sounds like there may be wiggle room for new IP? Regardless, if this frees them up for future acquisitions, I expect those to be exclusive. Enough with the multiplatform bullshit.
Game Pass is only on Xbox and PC. Casuals who have a PS will never switch consoles for Game Pass. They don’t care.
Called it. They’ll find other ways to encourage the community to migrate to Xbox. Marketing solely for Xbox and PC platforms, early maps, GamePass etc.
I was firmly in the Bethesda is exclusive from day one camp. But COD seemed more Minecraft than Elder Scrolls.
IMO I think it’s great, take the money from PS players and pump it into producing high quality XGS/BGS/ABK games. Win win.
No disrespect but I think MS care far more about growing their own platform than you
Is it technically a ‘concession’ if they already decided before regulatory review? It only seems to be a concession to us as the gamers.
No one here is engaging in console wars… that narrative is nonsense and frankly a lazy attempt to stifle discussion.
It’s about the value of the Xbox ecosystem to consumers… as all media and tech companies who clearly value exclusive content realise.
No evidence to suggest Playstation will halt one of their key business strategies of moneyhatting.
That’s not a fair assumption at all.
I’m an Xbox only gamer and I imagine most here are. But what games is Xbox losing here? ABK games are still coming to GamePass day one, still going to be optimised for Series S/X etc. This changes nothing for the end user.
We don’t know what’s happening behind closed doors, but, again, MS are very much not Sony’s buddies. They literally joined the console business out of spite for Sony. They’ll be benefiting and not just financially.
That’s obviously a reach, but this could be the death of Xbox matching or surpassing PS scenario, it’s like signaling white flag before the battle.
When (it’s not even an if lol) the next big moneyhat arrives, I’ll hold MS completely accountable, because it will mean they didn’t leverage this acquisition for gamers like they say, but only for their balance sheet, which I could care less about, lol, I see too many bean counters here concerned more about MS money than Xbox standing.
you don’t have a point because xbox is better supported and in a better position than ever right now despite not having 4 or 5 moneyhated games for a year or two.
They will be on gamepass so I don’t really care what other platforms they appear on, if this shuts up whiny ass Sony fanboys then great. My main interest is playing these games as cheaply as possible and to browse forums without Sony fanboys whining all the time about everything.
I also do not care about Xbox ever being market leader or not, whatever metrics you use to determine “market leader” are changing daily and Nintendo is the current “Market Leader” in hardware sales no matter what Sony fanboys say about it.
Xbox is also more consumer focused when they are NOT market leader so they can stay second or third place for all I care.
the problem is they already money-hatted half of this gen games. while Xbox was asleep.
i don’t think this would go through.
Wow, this thread sure is embarrassing to catch up on.
The classic blame xbox for everything even when theyre not even directly involved with the thing.
Xbox fans are the only ones that consistently lose games and have to accept concessions and we are supposed to just not say anything? Like There is much more to stuff than “game pass day 1”.
Did these posts get removed or something? Because I must have missed these. I’m seeing mostly level headed responses and explanations why to them it doesn’t sound like a good move. No console warring stuff.
That last bit by Poderick…I’m sure we ALL agree on. And we can only hope, wait and see if that is going to be the case. Obviously there will be some big deals, since Geoff Keighley tweeted about that like last week or so, but hopefully after that…they slow down or just cease them.
Playstation players dont have access to all of Bethesda’s games and likely a few or more acti-blizzard games so im not sure if playing the victim is a good take here.
Some of the people posting angry, or disappointed gifs sure feels like that. And making the blanket statement “no one is doing that” feels a little overly defensive
Not sure if this is the right move. It might be required by regulators, but I don’t know. I’m not a big fan of this acqusition as is and don’t think a publisher this large should be acquired. However, it happened, and I could see potential benefits for Xbox, especially in regions where the brand wasn’t as strong. I feel this announcement will open a can of worms on a lot of Xbox’s first-party titles exclusivity which will be constantly questioned. Why Activision Blizzard games, but not Bethesda one’s? Online conversations will possibly be tedious.
Sony would push Microsoft out of the console business any minute if they could, I fully believe so. I hope these timed exclusives stop, maybe this was a bargaining chip in these conversations with Sony? I doubt it though.
